Chapter 205: Chapter 204: Treating Guests (Part 2)
Lin Wan even specially called Sun Yu’s family over.
"Sister-in-law Lin, I’m really embarrassed. I didn’t get to help at all with this illness of mine." Sun Yu said with a bright smile as she ate a piece of caramelized sweet potato, showing no sign of being sick.
"There wasn’t much to do anyway, with Sister-in-law Zhang around, the two of us managed fine." Although Lin Wan didn’t like Sun Yu’s pretentiousness, she still kept up appearances.
Before they had a few bites, Han Yi came back with a few close comrades.
Except for Yang Wei, whom she was meeting for the first time, she knew all the others, Huang Lianzhang and Gao Ran.
Han Yi mentioned there was another one, but that person had gone home to visit family this year.
They had seen Yang Wei a few times since they were neighbors. Everyone was acquainted. The group was very casual.
The dining table was actually their study desk, and the stools were borrowed from neighbors. Of course, Lin Wan avoided borrowing from Wang Guihua and her mother.
"Wow, things are different with a wife; the house is so nicely done." Gao Ran exclaimed enviously as he looked around the house upon entering.
"If you like it, hurry up and find yourself a partner to marry. With a wife, every house looks good." Yang Wei laughed teasingly at him.
Gao Ran glared at him angrily and leaned over to Lin Wan, asking, "Sister-in-law Lin, do you have any younger sisters, oh, or older sisters? Could you introduce one to me?" Gao Ran shivered at the thought; if it were a sister, Han Yi would have to call him brother-in-law.
Lin Wan quickly waved her hand with a smile, "I have an older brother at home."
"Forget about the brother." Gao Ran said, looking around at everyone paired up, contemplating finding himself a wife.
"Saozi truly deserves to run a restaurant, the food is just delicious." Yang Wei praised while helping Sun Yu with a piece of braised duck.
Hearing this, Sun Yu, who was sulking, lit up, finding this a new thrill, "Saozi’s family is in business, huh? Why didn’t Brother Han find you a formal job? That would be more secure."
"I’m quite laid-back, I might not last long even if I did go." Reliable my foot, she wasn’t interested.
"I think doing business yourself is better, working for yourself. You can work whenever you want. The policy has changed. There are a lot of vendors in the small market now. If I started a small business, I wonder if I’d be laughed at. Honestly, I make the best cold noodles. Not sure if anyone would eat them." She didn’t have a job. If she could start a small business, it would, at the very least, help support the household, allowing Pidan to have a bit more meat.
"Why wouldn’t anyone eat them, I love the cold noodles made by Sister-in-law Zhang." Gao Ran laughed.
"Yes, I love it too. I was actually thinking, when summer vacation comes, Xiao Yu could come over and learn from you."
"Feel free to come. I guarantee she’ll learn it. Xiao Yu graduates this summer, right? Has her job been arranged?"
"Pretty much, unless there’s any surprise, she’ll be teaching middle school in the city," Sun Yu looked at Lin Wan, very pleased, as if boasting.
"Being a people’s teacher is great, the daycare center in our courtyard will be finished by summer, then Pidan can go to the Red Class. In the future, I’ll have to ask your sister-in-law for guidance with Pidan." Huang Jian Country laughed heartily.
"Originally she was supposed to be assigned to our hometown, but we worked hard to get her a quota here." Yang Wei didn’t shy away from sharing, which left the previously smug Sun Yu a bit embarrassed. She pinched Yang Wei discreetly when no one was looking.
Yang Wei, with his thick skin, didn’t mind the pain and just chuckled at his wife.
"Everyone, please eat, the dishes will get cold and won’t taste good. Xiao Yu, who is still recovering, should have some hot soup." Lin Wan quickly changed the subject, helping them with the hot soup.
Around the table, other than Sun Yu feeling a bit uneasy, everyone else enjoyed the meal. When they were leaving, Gao Ran specifically asked Lin Wan to pack some beef jerky for her, "I just love this flavor of sister-in-law’s beef."
"If you like it, I’ll bring more next time."
"That would be great."
Lin Wan not only packed some for Gao Ran but also gave some to the other two families.
