Chapter 204 - 203: Treat

Chapter 204: Chapter 203: Treat

Both lunch and dinner were cooked by Han Yi, and Lin Wan really didn’t leave the bed all day. In the evening, the bed was warm and the water in the big pot was boiling continuously.

Lin Wan didn’t need a kettle; she could just scoop a bowl of water directly from the pot.

Han Yi took advantage of the hot water to wash his hair. Seeing Lin Wan lazily reading on the bed with her hair all messy, he instructed her to lie down by the bedside and helped her wash her hair too.

It might have been the first time he helped a woman wash her hair, clueless about how much shampoo to use, he rubbed for a long time without lather. In the end, Lin Wan couldn’t stand it any longer and directed him from bed. After half an hour, her hair was finally clean.

Despite the clumsiness, Lin Wan was very happy. She had never experienced this in her past life.

In her previous life, their time together was actually too little, and there’s no memory of being this intimate.

On the second day, Lin Wan found out that Sun Yu was sick. Wang Guihua said Sun Yu had severe menstrual pain. Drinking brown sugar water didn’t help, and Yang Wei eventually took her to the clinic for an IV.

Lin Wan knew that Sun Yu’s illness this time was due to her own carelessness. If you catch a cold during menstruation, it’s no wonder it hurts, and there’s no blaming anyone.

Han Yi planned to invite a few of his good comrades to dinner at their home tonight.

As they were newlyweds and she was visiting for the first time, having gotten a place, Lin Wan also felt it necessary to invite them. So on the third day of Lunar New Year at noon, Lin Wan started busying herself at home.

To be honest, there wasn’t much food at home. Other than potatoes, there were only cabbage and turnips. Fortunately, Lin Wan had bought chicken and duck that hadn’t been eaten yet.

Pork in soy sauce with potatoes, braised vermicelli with pork, stir-fried cabbage with vinegar. Steamed pumpkin with shiitake mushrooms and chicken, spicy duck stir-fry. And a radish ball soup.

The portions were substantial, enough for seven or eight people.

After lunch, Lin Wan went to invite Sister-in-law Zhang over to help. Alongside, she brought over their bowls, plates, chopsticks, and some stools.

They only had three or four sets of tableware at home, which wasn’t nearly enough.

Upon arriving home, Lin Wan gave Pidan a plate of candy and snacks, letting her play on the bed inside the room.

With Sister-in-law Zhang helping to borrow a few stools, she also assisted in cooking in the kitchen.

"Xiao Wan, this... the preparations are too lavish. Chicken and duck? Honestly, my Brother Huang earns thirty-eight yuan a month, and he still needs to send ten yuan back home monthly. I have no job. Our family of three barely gets by on twenty yuan a month. Other than festive seasons where we can eat some meat, we don’t dare to have any meat on ordinary days. When there’s meat in the canteen, I give extra to the child and me. During New Year’s, most of the meat buns are filled with turnip and cabbage. Only the dumplings had a bit more meat." They only had over seventy yuan saved, and they were planning to have another child.

"Sister-in-law, here... I thought it wouldn’t be enough. We don’t have much vegetables at home, so it relies on the meat. Han Yi and I haven’t entertained guests yet, afraid of neglecting them." These years, Lin Wan had opened a restaurant, never lacking food; she had forgotten many families were still living tightly.

If she and her mom hadn’t ventured into business, they might not even have it as good as them now.

"What neglect? They’re good brothers, having food is enough. When they come over to our house, they’re satisfied with grain porridge and pickles."

Sister-in-law Zhang had cheerful words, but she was still very satisfied with Lin Wan’s preparation. Seeing Lin Wan’s cooking skills, she was even more envious, speechless.

"I heard Han Yi say your family runs a restaurant; your skill is impeccable. Someday, I should learn from you, if there’s time."

"My skills are average, my mom’s cooking is the best."

Around six o’clock, the dishes were almost ready. Lin Wan, afraid the kids might be hungry, specially made a sweet fried sweet potato for Pidan, serving as a little extra dish for them. Just in time for the men to return.
