Chapter 148: Another Dream
"Same as yesterday?" Selene asked while casually adjusting me in her cold embrace as if I was a child.
I really hated how much strength she held in her small body.. I was pretty sure that she could throw me like a tennis ball if she ever tried.
I wasn’t sure if Fate was really the one who brought me into this world, and also wasn’t sure of which one of them did that, but if that was the case, then couldn’t she make me reincarnate into a dragon body?
Well, at least it wasn’t in a woman’s body. There were novels about men reincarnating as women, so I was quite lucky in that aspect.
Smiling, I hid my real thoughts as I said: "Yes, if you see anything unusual happening to me, wake me up even if you have to slap me like the last time."
Selene gulped as she smiled nervously. "You, you felt it?"
Was she for real?
Maybe I didn’t feel the slaps, since I only saw her shaking me, but the marks on my face were unmistakable. I could say that she slapped me five fucking times!
But I knew it was necessary, especially if I was really in danger, so I just looked at her and said: "It’s okay. I’m allowing you to do it again if necessary, I mean, so long as you don’t kill me."
Selene chuckled in embarrassment. "Sure, just sleep well for now so I can also sleep tomorrow."
I nodded as I ordered Glutton to also protect me as I met Issac.
Afterwards, I finally closed my eyes and kept waiting for a few seconds until I felt myself losing my consciousness to the darkness.
A moment later, I opened my eyes to see myself in the familiar bar, surrounded by a pink mist, and sitting in front of Isaac who was calmly drinking wine.
"Welcome back." Isaac smiled as he greeted me.
I squinted my eyes, finally thinking about something strange about all our encounters.
Did that man have a life?
I didn’t sleep at the exact same time every time I went to bed. The time now was 10pm instead of 12pm, so...
’How does he always know when I sleep? Does he just keep waiting for me to sleep? Doesn’t he have a job with the Dark Order?’
My eyes almost widened as I realized that I thought loudly in my last questions.
Damn, I had to focus.
Isaac laughed as he answered: "Haha, no, I don’t just stay waiting. I have something like a mark on you to know whenever you sleep, so it’s easy to meet just after a few moments."
Oh, that explained many things.
I sighed, remembering what he showed me in my last dream as I asked my first question: "So, what happened after that? I remember that someone took Mike while the humans were being chased while taking Alice, right? And how do you even speak with Fate?"
Isaac nodded. "Unfortunately, I didn’t see any dreams about many things that happened after that war, so I can’t show you directly, but I just know that Alice is now highly protected in the government."
He paused for a moment as he smiled proudly. "As for Mike, he is a member of the Dark Order, also known as the Seer now. The man who saved him from those savages is Kael, the founder of the Dark Order."
Oh, so that’s how they knew too much about Fate. They took one of them!
Just then, my brows furrowed as I asked: "What are they used for after what happened to Fate? And why did she forgive all the people who turned her into 2 unequal halves?"
Isaac smiled bitterly as he replied: "Although Fate gained consciousness, gave herself a gender and even tried to kill the siblings with fate affinity — there was a part of her that never changed even in the 2 new halves."
Isaac paused for a moment as his smile vanished. "For all those who have fates, those who are still connected to her, she will always stay neutral to them no matter what."
"I don’t know what she was thinking about, but I was told that she only hated the people from the other side. The yellowish-white Fate forgave her people and only hated the knulls, the bluish-white Fate forgave the knulls and only hated the others."
So she was like a fool mother that forgives her children.
But wait, why was he always saying "she" instead of "they"? Weren’t they 2 fates now? Or was that because they were the same person but split into 2?
As I was lost in thoughts, Isaac continued: "For the other questions, I think you should first know about what exactly happened to the siblings in the explosion."
I nodded. "Yes, please."
Isaac sighed. "The siblings were trying to control Fate by making a bond with her, like a bond with a spirit but more dominating. As you have seen, the result wasn’t what they desired, but they succeeded partially."
My eyes widened as a theory formed in my mind, but I didn’t have to think for long as Isaac confirmed it immediately.
"Each one of them made a failed bond with one of the 2 halves. They were almost equal bonds instead of dominating. Alice made a bond with the yellowish-white
Fate, which we call now Fate of Order, meanwhile Mike made a bond with the bluish-white Fate, which we call now Fate of Chaos."
’Order and Chaos?’
Isaac ignored my confusion as he continued: "That’s why they are still useful. With Mike’s help, the Dark Order and the knulls have communicated with Fate of Chaos for years, helping each other against the other side. If not for him, we would have lost since the start as they have a stronger Fate in their side."
I raised an eyebrow. "Wait, another question. How are you still fighting when the other side also has a person with fate affinity. Isn’t that fact alone making Mike useless?"
"No," Isaac shook his head, "Mike is more talented than Alice, his bond with his Fate is stronger than Alice’s bond with the other Fate. Additionally, you have to know that he works with us willingly, unlike Alice, who is forced by the government and the kingdoms, and he is working hard to always improve. Thus, you can say that he overcame the difference by only his talent and hardwork. If not for him and all his sacrifices..."
Isaac’s experience turned grim for a second before returning to neutral. "Anyways, you are confused about the Order and Chaos on the Fate’s halves, aren’t you? To answer this, let me tell you about the children of Fate and the chosen ones first, as you are one yourself."
Yeah finally!! Stop wasting time and say it!
I looked at Isaac in anticipation as he asked: "Who is the strongest person you have seen through your entire life?"
’Huh?’
What did that have to do with the children of Fate and the chosen ones?
I thought about his question as I opened my mouth, trying to say Lunara, but just then I remembered another figure.
There was someone that could really be stronger than everyone in Eldoria combined.
"The Origin of Entertainment?" I muttered as I remembered how he casually treated Eldoria as a game.
Isaac clapped. "Correct! And do you know how to become one? And why are there no people with the title ’origin’ in Eldoria?"
I shook my head, waiting for him to continue.
"Remember when I told you that I know 3 ways to defy Fate?"
"Yes?"
Isaac raised three fingers. "The first way is to be born as an anomaly with Fate affinity, like Mike and Alice. It’s too simple and direct, but the other ways are when it becomes tricky."
Lowering one of his fingers, he continued: "The second way is to simply be born with high luck."
Hearing his words, I remembered how the Origin of Entertainment chose the VIP members. They were people with high luck and great fates.
Was luck also a conscious entity?
As if hearing my inner thoughts, Isaac explained: "Unlike Fate, which you are born with and can’t change, luck can increase or decrease depending on you."
Behind us, a boar suddenly appeared out of the pink mist, and in front of it, a man with a spear and a child stood still in their places.
"Let’s say that both the child and the man encountered a boar. Fate was who decided that they would encounter it. Also, she wanted the child to die and the man to kill the boar to eat its meat and satisfy his hunger, do you know what would happen?"
I answered almost in an instant. "Obviously, that would happen because they aren’t anomalies, right?"
Isaac smiled. "Yes, that’s common sense. As you can see, Fate made the man encounter a boar while holding a spear, while the child is weak and armless, but..."
All of a sudden, the boar split into 2, with one of them attacking the child and the other attacked the man.
As I waited for the result, something unexpected happened.
The man suddenly tripped and fell on the ground, causing him to die by the boar, meanwhile the boar that attacked the child suddenly fell into a hole that was covered by leaves, causing it to die instead of the child.
What Isaac said didn’t happen. Their fates changed because of small stupid mistakes.
Isaac explained: "As you can see, they unintentionally defied Fate. The child was fated to die, but his high luck twisted the details just enough to change the outcome. The same thing happened to the man, but he ended up dying because his luck was low."
"In other words, luck... is the opposite of Fate."
