Chapter 149: Chaos And Order

Chapter 149: Chaos And Order

"In other words, luck is the opposite of Fate."

My brows furrowed at his words, but when I thought deeply about it, it seemed to have some sense.

Fate was fixed, logical, and understandable turns of events. If you are weak and fight a stronger monster, you die. It was common sense.

As for luck, it was about unpredictability. Imagine a swordmaster with years of experience suddenly, while fighting a kid with a wooden sword, falls, hits a rock and dies.

With common sense, such a thing would never happen, how could an experienced swordmaster make such a mistake? But here was the thing about luck.

It doesn’t defy logic, only common sense. It uses the saying: Odds may be slim, but never zero.

But there was something I didn’t understand.

"You said that luck might increase or decrease. However, I remember that the Origin of Entertainment chose the VIP viewers by their luck, so I thought that the luck is also fixed. What exactly determines it?"

Responding to my question, Isaac raised 2 fingers. "There are 2 types of luck which make your overall luck. One of them is likely what was used to choose challenges and VIP viewers, which is Innate luck. It’s the luck you are born with. A lucky child could be born with high talent when his fate was being talentless, and become rich when his fate was staying poor."

Oh, so that’s how the siblings were born with Fate affinity. It was understandable now. So luck was the only thing that Fate couldn’t control in her own world. It was like a force that stopped her from having absolute control.

Isaac lowered a finger as he continued: "The second type is the acquired luck, it depends entirely on the situation. Look at the man and the child to understand it. Imagine they both have the exact same innate luck, and they both are starving and may do anything for a piece of meat. However, after encountering the boar, which one’s luck would increase?"

I answered as the understanding hit me: "The man."

They had the same luck and encountered the same boar, but the man was the only one who could handle the boar and take the benefits, thus he was luckier.

Of course, luck was unpredictable. He could still die even though his luck increased.

But wait, if 2 people had Fate affinity, then what about luck? If someone had luck affinity, would they get the ability to create only good luck? If I fought one, would they just make me get distracted while trying to shoot an arrow?

"Do you know what happens when you have both good luck and good fate?" Isaac suddenly spoke, cutting my inner thoughts off, "This is what we call Child of Fate.

In the past, you would have just got a good life, maybe become a legendary figure before dying with a smile. Your luck would have made all possibilities lean in your favour, and Fate would have made sure that you only encounter the best situations."

Hearing his explanation, I gained a small understanding.

Wasn’t that what happens to the majority of the protagonists in novels?

Finding treasures, having the best talents, somehow always winning and whatever happens to them only gives them benefits.

Remembering that Eldoria was actually a novel I read, I had no other choice but to see the main characters as Children of Fate.

Although I didn’t read the entire novel, I knew that Arthur survived until the end before dying to the demon king. In a sense, he could be considered lucky to go this far.

All of a sudden, Isaac pointed at me. "You, Raylin Crimson Bloodborne, are a child of Fate. As I said, the example I have given to you is about the past, but now, everything is different."

His expression turned too serious as he explained: "Now that there are 2 fates fighting each other, each one of them has her own children of Fate. As a child of Fate, she will keep watching you while doing her best to make you grow stronger for a greater fight. I’m sure you have got many strange opportunities throughout your life, right?"

"...."

"Right." I lied instantly.

Yeah, I definitely wasn’t a Child of Fate.

The only opportunity I encountered and made me become stronger was the land of challenges, and that one was from another world.

Obviously, I was glad that I wasn’t a Child of Fate. Wasn’t that technically getting used as a weapon? Why would anyone want to become a tool?

Of course, I didn’t let these thoughts out as I asked: "Why are you sure that I’m a Child of Fate?"

Isaac laughed calmly. "Haha, did you forget about Mike? He can get a lot of valuable information. Of course, he made a mistake, thinking that you were one of the chosen ones, but being a child of fate was obviously the other option."

Oh, no amount of words would describe how glad I was that I didn’t read that stupid novel!

I didn’t know how I would get benefits by acting like a Child of Fate, but I was definitely going to find one.

As I was stopping myself from smiling, Isaac’s expression turned serious again. "As a Child of Fate, you aren’t just a person that may change the war, but also a candidate."

Confused, I repeated: "Candidate?"

Isaac nodded. "There is a reason why no one has done anything against the Origin of Entertainment, and that reason is that only an origin can fight an origin as far as I know. Unfortunately, Eldoria doesn’t have such a being. Thus, all the Children of Fate, no matter their race, are candidates to become Eldoria’s origin."

’Oh, so only one can become an origin? Wait, does Fate choose who becomes the origin?’

But if that was true, then why didn’t she choose an origin before she split?

Wait, wasn’t the demon king called the Origin of Chaos in the novel?

Before I could complete my thoughts, Isaac nodded. "Yes, one of the conditions to reach Tier-10 and become an origin needs Fate. I don’t know the full details myself, but the seer told me that only a child of fate can become an origin."

Isaac paused for a moment, taking another sip of wine then continued:

"The bluish-white Fate wants to turn a child into an entity with the title Origin of Chaos, while the yellowish-white Fate wants to turn a child into an entity with the title Origin of Order, and that’s how they got their names. Obviously, whoever succeeds will win this war as no 2 origins can rise in the same world."

Wait wait wait wait! What the fuck?!

I was barely keeping myself calm after hearing that.

So the demon king wasn’t an origin yet? Wait, didn’t that mean Arthur was supposed to become the Origin of Order?

With that logic, I could guess that Arthur was killed in the novel because his side failed as the Fate of Chaos won.

But then another question lingered through my mind.

Was Arthur even the hero?

If he and the demon king were just 2 individuals trying to become Eldoria’s Origin to save their side, then didn’t that mean none of them was entirely good or evil?

Argh, I’m starting to regret not reading the novel again.

"Wait, what about the chosen ones?" I asked curiously as I was barely keeping myself calm.

There were many questions in my mind. Who even wrote that novel? And why in the novel was the Chaos side the winner?

Isaac smiled bitterly. "That was the third way to defy Fate, it was to be an otherworldly soul and reincarnate in Eldoria. Haha, I don’t know too much about them myself. I only know that each Fate chose 2 people from other worlds to help a candidate to become an origin. The best way to fight another Fate is to bring someone who isn’t bound by Fate."

My mind almost went into chaos. I didn’t need any more confirmation. I was a chosen one.

So I was right — I was brought into this world by another being. And now, I knew that there were 3 other people.

However, that still didn’t answer all my questions.

"Are they all from the same world? What are those worlds? How can each Fate be sure that her chosen one would help her candidate? And who are those 4 chosen ones?"

Isaac shook his head. "I don’t know anything about their worlds. I have met only 3, and they all were sensitive about that, but they didn’t seem to be from the same world."

"As for your second question, I heard that each one of them saw a future where a candidate tried to become an origin and failed, and they were chosen because they didn’t like that future. Of course, they can still switch sides. One of them has already done that."

He paused for a moment, shaking his head as he continued: "And for the third question, I can’t answer you directly as Fate won’t allow a Child of Fate to know about them, but I can give hints."

Fuck that! I’m not a child of fate!

Unfortunately, I couldn’t say that now, so I swallowed my curiosity as I saw him raising 2 fingers. "Two."

"Two?" I repeated with confusion.

Isaac continued: "2 of them are in the Exalted Academy, and you have met one of them. Not only that, you have even fought her and spent a lot of time with her. That’s all I can say."

’What?!’

My mind began to instantly think about the potential reincarnators.

There were only 4 girls I could think about. They were Aria, Selene, Celestia, and Liora.

Damn! Was I always that close to another reincarnator? But who was she?

*Clap!*

Isaac suddenly clapped, taking my attention. "I think I have given you all the needed information to be qualified as a member of the Dark Order. Thus, I’ll make it clear."

Next, he said something that almost made my face twitch in disgust.

"Raylin Crimson Bloodborne, for your status as a Child of Fate, I want you to join us in the Dark Order."
