Chapter 147: Just Having Fun [4]
"Are you sure it’s a good outfit?" I asked the girls, who were wearing new outfits, while trying to hide my embarrassment.
Liora and Elara nodded and gave me thumbs up as they said in unison: "It’s perfect."
"I like these outfits, especially the umbrella!" Selene smiled brightly as she brought her silver paraso, which was like an umbrella, closer to me.
Hearing their response, I didn’t argue anymore as I followed Selene after leaving the Cultivation Academy.
Although they said that my outfit was good, I still didn’t feel like it was the best, but maybe I just had a different taste.
As for the other outfits, they were worse and more revealing. Especially Selene’s outfit, I was almost sure that the elf girl did that crap on purpose!
As we kept moving, I gave another glance to our outfits.
Elara wore an elegant pale gold shirt, short bronze skirt with black shorts under it, and white stockings.
Liora wore a long blue hoodie that was similar to the one she always wore. She seemed to like hoodies too much, but her hair was now tied in a ponytail.
Selene wore a beautiful outfit in Japanese style, dressed in a silver kimono with subtle floral embroidery, silver obi belt, silver zori footwear with white socks and silver parasol.
Yes, other than her socks, everything about her was silver. And as the one who was matching her outfit, I wore the same thing but in black and purple.
The difference between me and her was that I didn’t buy a parasol and refused to wear Japanese footwear, I was still wearing my normal boots.
Obviously, I didn’t like this damn outfit!
I liked Selene’s outfit, it was really beautiful on her, but I didn’t feel too comfortable in mine. It was too big and flashy in my opinion.
Additionally, Glutton didn’t stop laughing in my fucking head since I wore this crap!
’Why the fuck are you laughing!’
Glutton stopped laughing as he answered: [Can’t you see yourself? You look like an eggplant!]
"...."
Yeah, I most likely wasn’t going to wear that again, not in public at least.
After a few minutes of walking, I finally noticed a place that seemed to be Selene’s destination.
’Since when has that been here?’
It was a large festival, filled with many sweets, drinks and food stores.
"Hurry up, we have only 15 minutes left." Liora said calmly as Selene and Elara began to walk faster.
15 minutes for what? After 15 minutes, it’d be only 9pm. Would that festival end this early?
Once the place appeared in our sight, Elara began to explain: "You are probably wondering what that is. That’s a big festival to welcome the new students of the first year. While we had a banquet, the students of the normal academies were attending this festival. It has been ongoing since our first class, and it will end after 2 days."
I nodded in understanding. For the students that didn’t need to invest all their time to get stronger, it was understandable that they had a long festival. They weren’t as busy as us.
"So why are you in a hurry if we still have 2 days left?"
At my question, Selene avoided my gaze. "It’s a surprise for you... I can’t tell you yet, sorry."
"It’s okay, it’s only 15 minutes." I replied casually as we finally entered the festival, looking at all the normal students celebrating.
Some students were exploring the festival excitedly, other students wore expensive clothes as they chatted and laughed, and most of the students wore tattered clothes and seemed to be here for the free food that some people were sharing.
I had almost forgotten about the homeless students here. After all, there were no homeless Exalted students. Well, if we ignored that I was the one who slept on the streets there.
"Wait, what is this?" Selene suddenly stopped, looking curiously at a specific store.
Upon seeing it, Liora’s eyes widened slightly and started glowing.
’Cotton candy?’
The store’s owner had many sticks with colorful cotton candy on them. There was a machine in front of him making more cotton candy as he shouted:
"RAINBOW SILK! FOR ONLY 20 EC YOU CAN TASTE THE SWEETIES RAINBOW SILK!"
’Oh, it has another name here.’ I thought as I looked at the girls beside me.
Seeing the girls’ expressions, I walked to the store, pulling Selene with me, as I decided to buy 2 of them for each one of us.
[I want 5 of them!] Glutton said before finally deciding to show up as he appeared on my shoulder.
"Isn’t that your spirit? C-Can’t I take him for a moment?" Elara asked, looking at Glutton with excited eyes.
[No, my heart belongs to the one who has taken my first kiss, Lunara!]
"...."
I ignored Glutton and refused Elara’s demand politely, and then bought 2 Rainbow silks for each one of us, including Glutton.
Before I could take the first bite, Selene took my hand and started pulling me again. "We have less than 10 minutes now, there is no time to waste!"
I rolled my eyes. "Yes, yes."
Couldn’t she just tell me where we were going? I could just teleport us there if she did.
I kept following her, ignoring everything around us, until we finally reached a big, long building. It was a bar.
Elara raised her head, looking at the top of the building, and asked: "Raylin, Can you make a gate to the top of the building?"
"I can." I nodded as a gate materialized in front of us, taking the attention of the people around us.
"Is that magic?"
"What are the Exalted doing here?"
’Sometimes I forget how rare magic is.’ I chuckled as I stepped into the gate, while remembering the possible reason for why magic is rare.
That bastard Isaac! Couldn’t he show me everything on the first day and end it all?
I had no choice but to be worried about tonight’s meeting, but I shook my head and focused on having fun for now.
As we stepped into the gate, we found ourselves on the top of the building, with a few people already sitting there.
Judging by how they didn’t react after seeing me, I could say they were likely cultivators or exalted.
Selene kept moving her head, as if searching for something, before looking at Liora. "Are you sure that’s the best place to see it?"
Liora nodded. "Yes, at least that’s what Thalia said."
"So... what are we waiting for?"
At my question, Selene smiled mysteriously before pulling me into a corner and making me sit on the ground. Then she put her parasol into her spatial storage and took her rainbow silk out of it.
"Just keep looking forward and eat your sweets, you won’t regret."
I nodded indifferently, taking my own rainbow silk out of my storage and feeling Selene’s head resting on my shoulder.
We kept talking about different topics for a few moments, then suddenly, a timer appeared in the sky, showing the number ’0:59’.
"It’s finally starting!"
"Prepare your bracelet."
"Why hasn’t she appeared yet? She will miss it that way."
The people around us talked excitedly, probably knowing what was going to happen.
....Maybe I was the only one that didn’t know.
"5 seconds!" Selene’s grip tightened, almost crushing my fucking hand! But I quickly enhanced it and acted as if nothing was wrong.
The time seemed to slow down as the number decreased slowly. Then finally, the number hit 0.
I waited for a moment, but nothing happened at all. Was I scammed?
*BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!*
All of a sudden, my eyes widened as the sky was illuminated by a lot of beautiful colors. I could see some people on the ground launching strange balls into the sky before these balls exploded into those colors.
"Kraa!"
[Fireworks!] Glutton screamed in my head, recognising the same mechanism of the fireworks.
I was also amazed by them, it was my first time seeing fireworks in this life, and as far as I knew, fireworks didn’t even exist here.
But the people here seemed to mimic them using some fire spells instead of science, which was amazing in its own way.
But... There was a problem.
I stopped my brows from furrowing. ’I don’t even like fireworks.’
In my past life, when I was young, I was hit by fireworks, which burned my skin and caused significant pain to me.
I didn’t hate fireworks, but I didn’t like them either. I saw them as just an unnecessary show that could cause harm.
Using my spatial awareness, I looked at the 3 girls around me. They seemed to be really having fun as they were too focused on the fireworks.
Well, even though I didn’t like fireworks, I was still happy just seeing their smiles, so I wasn’t disappointed on this day. After this night, I’d return to all the crap of trying to become stronger.
"...Beautiful." Selene muttered as she finished her rainbow silk rapidly without looking at it, leaving some parts of the silk around her mouth.
’That’s annoying.’ I thought while focusing on the silk around her mouth.
I really wanted to use a piece of clothing to wipe it out, but that was really embarrassing.
I always hated when the protagonists in novels did that and even called them ’cringe’. Obviously, I wasn’t going to become like them.
....
’I hate myself.’ I sighed as I took a facial tissue out of my storage and looked at Selene.
In a rapid speed, I wiped the rainbow silk around her mouth and threw the tissue away.
Selene finally stopped looking at the fireworks and stared at me with widened eyes and a red face, but I ignored her to reduce my embarrassment.
I patted her head, acting as if nothing happened and thought: ’I really hate myself.’
