Chapter 809 Their Relationship

Zhan Mohan, standing nearby, watched Catherine quietly. He wanted to see what other lies this woman could come up with.

"Mr. Feng, you've been guarding here all night. Go back and rest first," Zhan Mohan said faintly, looking at their tired faces.

Wei Yumeng suddenly realized she had been unconscious all night and hadn't expected the Feng couple to have stayed by her side the entire time.

She quickly said, "Mrs. Feng, Mr. Feng, please go back and rest. I'm alright now."

Song Lijun wanted to stay and care for her, but Feng Zhenhua stopped her. Catherine had barely slept all night, and if she stayed here any longer, her resentment towards them would only grow.

"Let's go. We'll visit Yumeng again another day. You're tired too, your health is the most important thing," Feng Zhenhua said.

"Mr. Feng is right. Please go back and rest," Wei Yumeng smiled.

Finally, Song Lijun was persuaded to leave by Feng Zhenhua and Wei Yumeng.

In the ward, only she and Zhan Mohan were left. They looked at each other, unspoken emotions flowing between their eyes. Zhan Mohan bent down and held Wei Yumeng tightly, burying his head deep into her neck.

To this day, Zhan Mohan would never forget the feeling of his legs going weak when he stood in front of the emergency room. No one but Wei Yumeng could make him that scared.

"Don't do anything so foolish again," Zhan Mohan lifted his head and looked at Wei Yumeng with a stern expression.

Wei Yumeng smiled and said, "I'm fine now, aren't I?"

In truth, at that moment, she had put everything else aside. Her mind was solely focused on saving him; she had no time to consider the consequences.

"Wei Yumeng, are you an idiot?" This was the first time in a long while that Zhan Mohan had called her by her full name so sternly.

Seeing that he was truly angry, Wei Yumeng quickly comforted him, "I promise you, it won't happen again."

Zhan Mohan didn't speak, but he held her even tighter. He would absolutely not let her suffer any more harm.

The knife Wei Yumeng was stabbed with had narrowly missed the vital parts of her abdomen. After a few days in the hospital, she began pestering Zhan Mohan to take her home.

Unable to resist her coaxing, Zhan Mohan took her home, along with a seasoned doctor from the hospital.

"I'm fine. I'll just read here. You go and attend to your own matters," Wei Yumeng said, pushing Zhan Mohan away in the room.

For the past few days, Zhan Mohan had been by Wei Yumeng's side almost twenty-four hours a day.

Wei Yumeng knew how busy Zhan Mohan was, and since she was already fine, she didn't want to delay his work. Therefore, she had to usher him out.

Seeing her persistence, Zhan Mohan reluctantly agreed, "Call me if you need anything later."

"Don't worry, nothing will happen," Wei Yumeng waved him away.

As he walked out of the room, Zhan Mohan received a call from Fang Xun.

"What is it?" he asked, walking onto the balcony.

Fang Xun said something on the other end. Zhan Mohan's expression changed, and he then said, "Catch him and get information from him."

Meanwhile, Fang Xun was sitting in a coffee shop. He had been there for nearly two hours, and had refilled his coffee cup multiple times.

After hanging up the phone, his gaze was fixed on two people sitting side by side at the bus stop across the street.

The woman in the black dress was Catherine, and the man next to her was wearing a baseball cap, obscuring his face.

Fang Xun had been following Catherine for several days. She had met this man several times recently, and each meeting was always secretive.

This made it difficult not to suspect something was amiss.

A minute later, Fang Xun saw Catherine get up and board a bus. Immediately after, the man in the baseball cap also got up, preparing to leave.

He downed his coffee and stood up, chasing after him.

The man didn't take the bus but chose to walk. Fang Xun followed him leisurely, not too far behind.

At the corner ahead, the man suddenly turned into a small alley. Fang Xun quickly followed.

"What are you doing!" Before Fang Xun could react, the man roared and kicked out. Fortunately, Fang Xun reacted quickly and pinned the man to the ground with a counter-move.

"Who are you? What are you doing... mmmph!" Before the man could finish speaking, a black sack was pulled over his head.

When he saw daylight again, he was already in a spacious factory building.

Standing in front of him was the man who had been following him, Fang Xun.

"Who are you? Why did you grab me? Let me go!" The man shouted, his face contorted.

Fang Xun pulled up a chair and sat down in front of him. "Don't worry, I won't hurt you. I just want to ask you something."

He then lifted the lid of the suitcase in front of the man, revealing stacks of red banknotes.

"If you cooperate, all this money is yours," Fang Xun said.

The man looked confused. He glanced at the money on the ground, then at Fang Xun, and stammered, "What, what do you want to know?"

"Do you know Catherine? What's your relationship with her?" Fang Xun asked directly, without beating around the bush.

Upon mentioning Catherine, the man's flabby face trembled, and his eyes turned fierce.

"I don't know her," he replied as if by reflex.

"Don't know?" Fang Xun raised an eyebrow and took out a photo from his pocket. It showed him and Catherine sitting together in a coffee shop.

Fang Xun pointed at the photo and smiled, "This is you, isn't it?"

"It's not me. I don't know any Catherine. You've got the wrong person." The man still refused to admit it and turned his head away, no longer looking at the photo.

Fang Xun kicked the suitcase in front of him and placed a stack of money before the man. "What? You don't want this money anymore? As long as you tell me your relationship with Catherine, this money is all yours."

The man looked at Fang Xun, his eyes resolute, "You can beat me to death today, and I still won't know Catherine."

Fang Xun gritted his teeth, stood up with some helplessness, and said to the man, "Are you sure you won't talk?"

The man had clearly decided to go all out. No matter how Fang Xun threatened or enticed him, he wouldn't utter a sound.

Having no other choice, he had to call Zhan Mohan for instructions.

"Here... he's not saying anything," Fang Xun said helplessly, looking at the stubborn man.

Zhan Mohan hadn't expected such resistance either. He furrowed his brow and said, "Keep an eye on him for now, don't let him escape. Go and investigate his identity."

Since he refused to speak, they would investigate themselves. Heaven's net has wide meshes, but nothing escapes. Zhan Mohan didn't believe Catherine could be completely flawless.
