Chapter 117: Monarch of Chaos
The room seems to disappear as Rokuro and his group of friends prepare to fight against the Angel. Everything is quite intense there so why don’t we go back to that in a little while?
(Currently within a dimly lit room. ???? POV)
A room with a giant table, chairs all around it, and someone sitting in a throne at the edge of it all. That person would be the Monarch of Chaos of course, you’d have to be stupid not to know who that is.
"It seems that something interesting is happening in that world after all." The Sinister tone from within the Monarch’s voice shakes the room.
"What world are you referring to Sir...?" I asked with a bit of concern in my voice.
"Earth? I guess there are a few different versions of Earth. The one with our little dragon, the kid who despises me. He’s on a list just like the others who despise me." He answered while looking down at the table.
"Rokuro. I didn’t think he was that interesting in my opinion... Sir." I try to say respectfully while watching for his reaction.
He never really shows his face so it is kind of hard to understand what he’s thinking or what he’s going to do. I’ve never understood how the Monarch’s way of thinking works.
They always seem to be working differently from one another while keeping each place under control.
"Rokuro is only interesting to me because of his ability to win over others. The dragon shit is old news to me at this point. He might be a rare breed in the world but to me it’s nothing unusual." The Monarch said before opening up a book.
People with the power of a dragon were never really considered unique before since we’ve seen so many of them. Honestly it got kind of boring killing them after awhile.
The problem usually comes from how much power they actually possess. Everything is all surface level until we see what they break through to get stronger.
It’s odd but we have had someone almost beat the Monarch of Chaos. She was quite difficult to deal with but at the end of the day, she died anyway.
The humans, elves, dwarves, and so many other races fail to understand how much weaker they are compared to us.
"Don’t you think the new evolution of monsters will make a difference?" A woman speaks up from the shadows.
"Personally I think they will help distract the other humans. The ones who have been getting stronger than expected, but that’s about it." The Monarch responds while leaning back in his chair.
I don’t think the evolution of the monsters will make much of a difference when it comes to someone like Rokuro. His group has also been getting quite strong with the ones he keeps recruiting.
Maybe there is something at play that I’m not aware of but I find it odd that one of our tower goddesses are on his side.
Regardless they seem to be dealing with an enemy far out of their league anyway so I’m sure that’ll be quite entertaining. Angels are quite the enemy to be up against in the first place.
The talk went on for quite awhile before something finally caught me interest once again. The talk of the 7 demon realms. Something that was mentioned awhile ago when we first invaded one.
We didn’t realize that there was so many of them but it makes a lot of sense now. The realms all have various strengths to them while the others lack it in the slightest.
"Are we planning to attack each of those realms?" I ask with a bit of curiosity in my voice.
The thought of being able to bring chaos to even more realms would be quite enjoyable. Seeing the despair that forms on each of their miserable faces is always the best.
That’s exactly why I enjoy this job so damn much.
"They don’t really matter right now. We are currently dealing with enough the way it is." The Monarch answers without even looking up.
"You don’t think they’ll pose a threat in the future?" A woman asked across from me.
"The biggest threats don’t exist yet. We have been watching everything for a reason, so don’t go throwing more onto our plate." He responds with a bit of irritation in his voice.
Maybe it was dumb to ask about us attacking the other realms since we haven’t even finished our work yet. We still need to see if any of these people manage to survive the continuous changes we throw at them.
They’ve been surviving in the world pretty well with the awakening that occurred within a good majority of the population, yet I can’t help but notice how chaotic it got.
People aren’t all trying to fight to protect the weak, most are actually fighting for themselves.
Humans are truly some of the more fascinating beings that we’ve encountered.
"I think after this evolutionary phase we will make another big change." He said with a bit of a sinister tone to his voice.
The Monarch definitely gives me quite a scare... But I’m glad I’m on his side during all of this.
Multiple people wearing all black cloaks walk into the room, their faces completely concealed by darkness. It doesn’t take long for them all to take a seat.
All of them sat close to the Monarch of Chaos.
—————
The Monarch of Chaos
The Monarch of Greed
The Monarch of Lust
—————
There were more Monarch’s than this but the humans would probably refer to them as ’The Seven Deadly Sins’. The Monarch of Chaos is the only one who doesn’t follow such a thing.
Those were just the three that happen to be here while the others do whatever it is that they do. I’m not really on the same level as them so it doesn’t really make a difference if I know or not.
"The towers still seem to be up." Lust speaks with a bit of joy in her voice.
"Who cares if they are up? There should be even more up or we should be killing even more of those pitiful bugs." Greed chimes in with more of an annoyed tone.
"Settle down Greed. Everything comes with time." Chaos said before he finally looked up.
The glowing blue eyes of his were something I could never forget.
Everything disappears within a matter of seconds.
(Rokuro is staring at the Angel. Rokuro’s view.)
The battle wasn’t far from starting for us so it was time to take advantage of everything I’ve learned. There’s no guarantee that we are going to win this fight against an angel.
It didn’t matter though since we still needed to put everything we have into this fight. I quickly went into a stance that utilizes the Variseth Eclipse Arts.
The perfect hybrid technique to use against an angel since I need to be prepared for any kind of attacks.
I’m surprised you remember exactly how to do the stance, you really do learn quite well Rokuro. Even though you can be quite the pervert sometimes, I’m proud.
I appreciate that Rika but of course I’d remember how to use it. There was a reason I went to him for training so I’m not just going to forget about it.
There’s no guarantee that it’ll make a difference in this fight against him but if I can be helpful to my friends... That’s all that matters.
"Interesting. Why don’t we talk for a little while longer before this silly fight starts." He suggests with a sly smile on his face.
This asshole really wants to talk before fighting? Hasn’t there already been enough said and enough reasons for us to fight against him?
Take this chance to prepare yourself for the fight. We can start pushing more of the power into the right spots instead of doing it mid battle.
Actually that’s a pretty good idea Rika, but I can’t speak for the others. I don’t know if they’ll want to have more of a conversation with him.
"Rokuro what do you want to do?" Akina asks while still aiming her pistol at the Angel.
"Might as well since we’ll be fighting him either way." I respond while still staring right at him.
People like him will always piss me off in all the worst ways but it doesn’t matter since this will be a fight anyway. I’ll get a chance to take my anger out on him.
We just have to try to gauge what kind of strength he has while he talks with us for a little while.
He’s obviously curious about something with us, I just don’t know exactly what it is just yet.
"Why don’t we learn about each other a little bit before wasting all the time fighting?" He asks with more of a serious tone.
I guess we’ll be wasting time with this piece of shit after all. I don’t look forward to this in the slightest.
