Chapter 114: The Next Step
I didn’t really expect her to say that but she is the one who usually notices I’m in my head about things. I’m actually surprised that the others haven’t noticed it or maybe they just don’t say anything about it.
Regardless we need to figure out the next step so we can actually get things moving again.
"Why don’t we head for a dungeon?" Velia asks as she looks towards us.
A dungeon would be the perfect opportunity to discover what else hides in them. I’m sure there’s a lot more to them, just haven’t gotten the chance to explore them much.
I don’t think I’ve been in one since I found Lilly and awakened my power. It would probably be the perfect opportunity to explore one now so we can see what’s going on.
Maybe some sort of answers are waiting for us below.
"Going down in the dungeons wouldn’t be a bad idea." I respond while standing up from the table.
"It would do us some good. We’ve got a pretty powerful group." Ghost chimes in, agreeing with me.
"It would be fun to see a dungeon. I’ve never really done much exploring!" Akina says with even more excitement in her voice.
Everyone seems to be looking out direction so it was about time we made our departure. Like that, we left the city of Caelmaris behind once again.
Making our way to a dungeon for the first time in a long time... It was kind of refreshing. There’s been so many different experiences over the last few weeks, stuff that I didn’t expect to experience.
But the dungeons were the first place that I actually made a difference, that I actually managed to awaken something.
"Hey Rokuro, I think I see the dungeon in the distance." Akina says while pointing directly ahead of us.
We were walking along a road that went a bit more north, heading away from the city of Caelmaris. It would definitely be interesting to see if this dungeon was any different from the previous ones.
Surely they had to have some different designs to them or maybe even the feeling itself would be different entirely.
"That definitely looks like the outside of one." I respond while squinting a bit.
It definitely resembles the outside entrance of a dungeon but it was a bit hard to see from where we stand currently.
"At least I can finally kill some more monsters." Velia speaks up while unsheathing her sword.
"Yes, plenty of monsters to kill in a dungeon." I replied as we finally start to reach the dungeon.
I don’t think we dealt with too many monsters the last time we entered a dungeon but I think we just got lucky with the path we took. At the time I don’t think I would’ve been capable of beating a bunch of them in one go.
Ghost was also a bit more scared to deal with monsters back then.
She has come a long way since the first time we entered a dungeon so I’m proud of her in more ways than one. I’m also quite curious to see how her new awakened powers work or talents or whatever she was given.
I only saw a glimpse of it back in Elyndra so there’s a lot of mystery behind it for now.
You could say that there’s still a lot of mystery behind your power as well.
Don’t you know more about the power I have than I do?
There are some things that I don’t know. You have some different possibilities compared to when I first started using my power.
I forget sometimes that you are an actual person who was born with powers of a dragon or would it be better to say that it runs in your blood?
I’m a dragon who possesses a human form so yes it runs in my blood. I just never really had to use my dragon form, not fully at least.
So there’s a lot I don’t know about you too you know. You haven’t really shared everything with me yet or anything else about you.
Seems we all have quite a bit of mystery behind us right now.
"Inside the dungeon we go. Inside the dungeon we go." Akina begins to sing with a bit of happiness in her voice.
We started to journey into the dungeon as Akina died down with her singing. It was definitely quite familiar to the first dungeon I entered but the walls felt similar to something you’d see in one of the futuristic cities.
Electrical lines seem to be running throughout the walls with all sorts of runes around them. It was definitely quite a different sight to be seeing here.
The feeling of death didn’t seem to linger here as much as it did in the other dungeon.
There was also a long staircase going up directly ahead of us, a sign to the right of the stairs also seemed to say something. It wasn’t really possible to read since it was in another language.
A language that I definitely didn’t know but no one else seemed to be willing to speak up about. Either they didn’t know or they didn’t care to share what it meant.
"Seems like we’ll be going up." Velia says with her usual monotone voice.
"Seems so." I agree while beginning to head up the stairs.
No reason to waste any time here, I’d rather go up before something decides to surprise us. You never really know what lurks in the dungeons, especially with the new threat of evolution at hand.
I don’t look forward to whatever new monsters await us, nor do I want to see the changes that happened with the old ones.
They were already quite disgusting to look at in the first place so I can only imagine that they got even uglier. But it doesn’t change that they can still die so I’ll make sure to kill whatever comes our way.
Something definitely feels off about this whole place.
