Chapter 115: What Awaits at The Top
This strange feeling while climbing the steps is definitely something to take note of. Rika is definitely not wrong for thinking something is off about the dungeon.
We don’t really know what awaits us at the top so this could be quite the fight that we experience.
"Are Dungeons always this interesting?" Akina asks with a bit of curiosity in her voice.
"I don’t really think it is anything interesting just yet but no." I respond while keeping my guard up.
"Dungeons never feel this off." Velia chimes in while glancing around.
I’ve only been in one dungeon so it is kind of hard for me to give a confirmation on if this is normal or not. In most cases I’d definitely say that it isn’t.
The previous dungeon didn’t give off vibes like this whatsoever.
I’m sure whatever is waiting ahead will be quite the fight or maybe it’ll be willing to have a conversation with us. I don’t really know what to expect because of the damn tower experience I had.
The enemies that wanted to talk really caught me off guard back then.
Dungeons and Towers are completely different from one another you know.
I know they are different but I’m just saying that it caught me off guard. I was just expecting to be attacked without any sort of conversations happening in the first place.
Seems like a fair response. You definitely learned quite a bit from the tower so at least it wasn’t all bad or confusing.
That is definitely something I’m quite grateful for when it comes to the tower since it did help me learn about my power more. We also got some strong companions out of it, well I can’t say that about Mari yet.
Mari hasn’t really shown her skills in combat much for me to know what she’s capable of.
She should be pretty strong since she is a tower guide but there was never anything to prove her strength. Maybe we’ll see it soon though since we aren’t in a tower anymore.
"This feeling is starting to become a lot more familiar!" Akina says with excitement in her voice.
"What exactly is it then?" I question while continuing to walk up the steps.
"It’s reminds me of angels." She answers without wasting a breath.
Angels. I haven’t really thought much about angels being a possibility since we’ve only experienced monsters in this world. Then again, we dealt with that strange floor with the strange choir singing back in the tower.
Would angels really be a possible enemy you find in a damn dungeon of all places?
I suddenly found my thoughts going quiet for a moment as we reached the top of the steps. A giant white door stood ahead of us with gold lining all throughout the door.
Actually everything about the top of these steps seem to be decorated the same. It definitely gives off some sort of heavenly vibe up here.
"Told you it was reminding me of Angels." Akina speaks with the same excitement in her voice still.
Angels. Angels. Aren’t angels typically supposed to be something good? This shit doesn’t feel like it is good at all, so why would they be in a dungeon...
Not everything is what you expect it to be Rokuro. These angels may be far different from what you know about or anything you’ve read about.
I’m just saying it is quite surprising, that’s all. Angels were never really something you’d think about in a dungeon.
Usually they are supposed to be what you see on your way to heaven or in heaven itself. At least that’s the basic gist of it when it comes to angels in my mind.
You didn’t do a whole lot of reading did you?
Not at all. I’ve just heard enough about them to know that this is definitely far from something normal.
"Should we push through the door?" Ghost asks as she steps past me.
"We’ve already climbed the steps so it would be a waste not to." I respond while staring at the door.
"Better to get it over with." Velia chimes in with a monotone voice, almost starting to sound bored this time.
We all walked over to the door and begin to push it open. As it starts to creek a bright white light begins to burst through the door.
It was quite the blinding light as we continued to push the door the rest of the way open, trying to ignore the light. After a few more moments we managed to get it all the way open.
The inside of the room resembled the tower floor that me and Velia had gone through. A light choir could be heard singing as we stepped into the room.
Ahead and angel hovered in the sky, looking down at us. A man with long flowing blonde hair, white robes, two beautiful white wings, and what seem to be glowing yellow eyes?
"How lovely, I finally have guests." He speaks with joy in his voice.
"So you’ve been expecting people?" I responded before anyone else gets the chance.
"Of course. There is a lot for me to show you." He says while slowing coming down to the ground.
I’d definitely be careful with a guy like this since they are usually the worst ones to deal with. Typically they hold the most secrets.
I was already on guard from the moment we entered the room. I’ve never trusted random beings in these type of places. Lilly was an exception because she proved that she wasn’t a threat to us.
Even now she continues to prove me wrong about the time we found her. It makes it impossible for me to think that she is bad for us to have in our group.
But this guy... Yeah I don’t think there is any way for him to prove that he is a good guy. He gives me the vibe of someone with a fake face on.
I crack my knuckles and continue to watch him closely.
