Chapter 72: Back to Caelmaris (2)
Snap. A bright purplish light begins to swirl in front of us after Akina snapped her fingers. "Step through there and you’ll be there. I hate tedious travel but walking here was a different story." Akina speaks up while crossing her arms.
At least that’ll make going back to Caelmaris a lot easier than expected since we don’t have to walk all the way there now. I wish we would’ve had this option back then... Life could have been so much easier for us.
Then again I guess I got to talk with everyone a bit more on the walk there so it wasn’t too bad.
"Let’s go, let’s go!" Lilly shouts impatiently.
"Thank you Akina, we’ll be heading off now." I say with an appreciative tone.
After we walk through the strange purplish portal I can see the familiar streets of Caelmaris once again. It didn’t seem like people questioned much about us coming through a portal.
I look back at Lilly. "I never really thought to ask before but do you know much about why Caelmaris is more..." I struggle to find the words to ask her.
"More like something you’d see in my old world. Yeah they probably met someone from there at some point during the collapse as you call it. It suits this city quite nicely." Lilly responds while looking up at the carriages passing by.
I kind of thought it resembled something out of a fantasy novel so it makes a lot of sense now. There’s probably some other cities out there with a different way of operating as well compared to here.
I’d like to visit the other ones at some point since I haven’t really traveled the world all that much. I’ve only ever known Ashvalis, Elyndra, and now Caelmaris.
Anything beyond them are complete mysteries to me so I’ll never know what lies within those cities unless I go myself.
"I remember some of the stories you told me." Ghost chimes in.
"Oh? Seems I’ll need to be told these stories at some point." I tease while looking at Lilly.
"Tch. Stupid Robot. Yeah, Yeah... I’ll tell you eventually." Lilly responds with a bit of embarrassment in her tone.
I begin walking as I take a few quick glances around. "We should head for the guild hall." I suggest while leading the way.
It didn’t take long for us to navigate our way back to the guild hall of Aetherion since the streets weren’t that crowded. People didn’t seem to be out and about as much today except for the carriages.
In fact, there aren’t even any hunters around the entrance of the guild either which is kind of odd.
"We must be missing out on some sort of party." Lilly says while observing the surroundings.
"We’ll just check inside and see for ourselves." I reply while heading towards the entrance.
I push open the door to see that there are a lot of hunters in the hall, just not lurking outside at all. Usually some would be outside as guards in a sense but it seems that something is going on.
It only took a few seconds to look around the room for where Lukas could be since he seems to be pretty knowledgeable... Even if he is a cocky bastard.
He was behind the counter like the first time that we met so I guess they needed his help yet again. With that we walked over to the counter and I leaned on the counter. "So what’s going on?" I ask with a bit of curiosity.
The annoyed expression on his face said a lot. "There’s talks of a war. The damn assholes in Nyxhaven are causing problems." Lukas answers with a bit of an annoyed tone.
A city I’ve not heard of yet or even been to so maybe that will be the next place I see.
"What’s the guild planning to do about it?" I ask.
He shrugs before looking at everyone crowded around the board. "They’d rather not have a war, especially not with the increase in monsters. Too many hunters would die and we can’t afford that." Lukas responds with more of a serious tone.
I’ve never heard much about wars in the past since we didn’t really have them after the collapse. People only usually fought if they were against hunters or didn’t want to be one with their talents.
Nyxhaven... That’s definitely quite a name for a city but I wonder what kind of hunters reside in that city. Caelmaris has decent hunters but they have kind of a stuck up attitude.
Ashvalis hunters seem to be all about helping people for the most part, even if they are assholes. So I’m definitely curious what awaits in Nyxhaven.
"It doesn’t matter though. The Guild master will probably make an announcement soon enough since he’s been in talks with the other guild masters." Lukas says with more of a laid back tone.
I guess that though calmed him down a bit which is good since it’ll make it easier to get some answers about some things.
"So he’s spoken with the guild master of Elyndra?" I question.
He scoffs at me and his expression seems to be serious again. "Elyndra doesn’t give a damn about what happens below them." Lukas answers without hesitation.
It was probably too hopeful for me to think that he’d possibly have any answers on Elyndra in the first place. Most people don’t know a damn thing about it so I don’t know why I ask here.
The only thing that’s known is that it takes a shit ton of silvite or a high ass ranking to get up there. S and SS are probably the only ones they’ll take up there since they are the highest known ranks.
I’ll reach SSS and become the first to do so. Then I’ll find some answers up in Elyndra about some of the things I’m curious about.
"Maybe it’s best we head out." Ghost suggests quietly.
