Chapter 77: Hunters Surge
This would explain the sudden surge in hunters recently, the rising in ranks definitely was influenced by the higher ranking hunters. S and SS is a pretty big deal since there aren’t that many high ranking hunters the way it is.
For the longest time A rank hunters were the top of the line while occasionally an S rank hunter would slip past. So Elyndra is looking to capitalize on the new high ranking hunters that ascended there.
"That explains the hunters surge recently. Why would they take action against those below?" I question with a bit of curiosity.
"The King as he likes to call himself, he doesn’t like anyone who can challenge him. Most guilds have grown tired of dealing with Elyndra since they look down on everyone." Lucien answers with a bit of irritation in his voice.
Elyndra could potentially answer a lot of my questions which is why I need to find a way up there now. Preventing this war from happening would be the best possible outcome.
As much as I hate stuck up assholes like that, we need them around for the time being until everything is figured out.
Stuck up yes. They won’t go back on their plans though.
How can you say that with certainty? We haven’t even gone up to talk to them yet to know for ourselves. We might be able to convince them not to bring about a war in the other hunters.
Sometimes a good voice of reason is enough to persuade people to avoid attacking. At least that’s the way I’m looking at it right now.
You won’t always be able to face things with such positivity, there will be a time where you have to accept reality.
"People like that shouldn’t exist within the world." Ghost speaks up with a bit of anger in her voice.
Lucien laughs for a few moments before speaking. "I really do love this cyborg girl, maybe she can stay with me instead." Lucien says while grinning with a bit of a teasing tone.
Slam! My hand breaks through the part of the table I’m sitting at as I realize what just happened. "Sorry. Ghost isn’t going with anyone else. But Elyndra needs to be dealt with." I respond after calming myself down quickly.
I could never let Ghost go like that or let someone like this take her away from me. That would be cruel for fate to do such a thing to me... I’ll never allow it to happen either.
"I’m mostly joking around kid. I like your spirit though. You could use one of the sky ships to hitch a ride there." Lucien suggests while keeping his smile.
"Won’t they have an issue with that?" I ask with a bit of caution.
"Elyndra isn’t completely sealed off, we’ll send you there with a message from us anyway. It’ll be the easiest way to keep problems from starting." Lucien answers while pulling out a white envelope.
He hands it over to me and I take it without thinking. A name was written on the envelope in a language I didn’t recognize myself.
"Take that and show it to the shipmaster, you’ll find no problems leaving for Elyndra." Lucien says confidently.
"Why would you trust me to go there? We’ve only just met today." I ask with a bit of curiosity.
"I’m taking a lucky gamble on you being a good choice, hopefully you’ll be someone who can count on in the future." Lucien responds while standing up.
That was the last thing he said before we left the guild hall, it was time to make our way to the docks. A sky ship would take us up to Elyndra so we need to hurry if we want to prevent a war.
I can’t guarantee that I’ll be able to prevent anything since I’ve never been the best with talking to begin with. At least I don’t think I’m the best one to have these conversations with.
Minami usually handled so much when I was younger so I never really dealt with problems. Every problem I ever dealt with came after the collapse happened.
Now my way of handling issues has been with bloodshed from this power that awakened within me. I really hope I won’t have to use it against all these people as well.
After a little bit of walking we eventually manage to find our way to the docks where a ship awaits. Of course it was following the theme of the whole damn city with it’s black obsidian like alloys. Some strange wings that were forged from strange metals and even levitation crystals.
I recognized the engines on the ship since I’ve read about them occasionally from the books that came to be in Ashvalis. Void engines, one of the strongest engines to be made during this age.
A man stood by the ship with his face completely covered by a strange mask with purple eyes glaring at us. He was wearing a tailored black suit, undershirt, pants, everything. His hair was concealed by a hood that matched his mask perfectly.
"I don’t get many visitors so what do you need?" The man asks while crossing his arms.
I show him the envelope. "I need to head to Elyndra." I answer with a serious tone.
He takes a closer look at the envelope before gesturing for us to climb aboard. "I’m Malrik by the way. I’ll be the one leading this ship, just me alone so you have nothing to worry about." He assures us.
As we board the ship it was quite noticeable that it wasn’t anything fancy and was actually pretty small inside. No other crew were aboard and there were just a couple of seats for people to sit.
"I’ll try my best to trust you Malrik." I say with a bit of hesitation in my voice.
Not like there was much choice since I couldn’t just fly there right now, not without the others.
