Chapter 78: A View From the Sky
After taking a seat there wasn’t much else for us to do. There was only waiting until we reach the city of Elyndra.
I never really thought I’d get a chance to visit a city like it since I’ve never had the means to do so. It’s outrageously priced with no other way to go there unless you climb the ranks.
So spend the money or become a powerful enough hunter for them to want you up there in the first place.
We just happen to be lucky enough to get a delivery from Lucien for Elyndra. I’m not sure if it’s right for us to be delivering the envelope since we are not part of the guild but it doesn’t matter.
The opportunity to go to such a place without meeting either requirements is quite rare to begin with. I shouldn’t let that bother me much.
"I’m surprised Lucien would send random hunters to do this but obviously he sees something special with your group here." Malrik speaks up with a bit of shock in his words.
The ship had also taken off finally so we were beginning to fly through the skies, something I didn’t expect to experience. I couldn’t deny the nice feeling of the breeze brushing past me up here.
It made for a peaceful ride through the skies at the very least.
"I couldn’t understand his reason for trusting us either but it is a good opportunity regardless." I respond while keeping a relaxed tone.
"Then you should enjoy the ride." Malrik suggests before going quiet.
A View from the sky is probably a lot nicer than most views I’ve had over the last few years. I’ll definitely make sure to enjoy it as much as possible.
"Rokuro you should look." Ghost says before dragging me over to the side of the ship.
Looking over the edge was pretty nice, we were a lot higher than I thought already. The City of Nyxhaven was slowly starting to look like a spec compared to how big it actually is.
You could actually see a lot up here. The distant cities of Ashvalis, Caelmaris, and even the wastelands were pretty easy to see in the distance.
From this high up it was going to be like this either way.
"It is a pretty sight, I can’t deny that." I reply while taking in the view.
You could compare this to something like a hot air balloon back then but nobody would’ve expected something like this. Planes and helicopters maybe, but a flying ship?
Times have definitely changed and we were getting pretty high up there with our knowledge on technology too. Maybe flying cars would’ve been something we saw a lot more of if the collapse never happened.
The mindset of a human is truly fascinating you know. Magic is a lot more unique compared to the advancements of your technology.
Technology still was making its way in the world though. It was advancing fast and honestly before we had magic, power, or talents, we had technology.
It helped out a lot of people in the past and some still rely on it for a lot of different jobs. A junker could probably make some decent contraptions with some of the tech we have now.
But it is pointless if it can’t even win against the low tier monsters of this world. Take Ghost as an example of something that didn’t succeed.
She is different, I am confident that she can be a lot stronger than the other cyborgs from her past. We just need to find a way for her to remember her past a bit better and maybe find some better gear.
She’ll be completely set after that so there won’t be a need to worry about her so much after that.
"Rokuro I did notice you go in your head a bit more lately." Ghost points out while leaning on the side of the ship with me.
The view below truly was magnificent to stare at. "There’s a lot to process lately but I did notice you were acting a bit odd back there." I respond while keeping my eyes fixed on everything below.
She tucks a strand of her hair behind her ear. "Lately I’ve felt some stuff acting up but it wasn’t a big deal at first." Ghost says with a bit of embarrassment in her voice.
I can understand not wanting to admit that something is wrong since there’s always the worry of what the other person will say. I also don’t like to share when things are wrong with me.
"I’ll take a look at you after we get done with Elyndra. I promise." I assure her with a smile.
It definitely hasn’t been easy to stay positive in a world like this lately but I’ll do my damn hardest to do so, no matter what. I’d like to think that I haven’t changed much since everything happened.
I’ve still kept the same attitude since my power has awakened... You know with saving the world from these monsters and everything.
It does scare me sometimes though, the thought that one day I can just change how I think out of nowhere.
I feel the softness touching against my hand as I look down to see Ghost holding it. It was a nice and warm feeling, one that I haven’t really experienced much before.
"No wonder everyone can follow you. You always know what to say Rokuro." Ghost says happily while holding onto my hand.
"I try my best." I reply with a bit of nervousness taking over.
I’ve never had much experience with physical touch when it came to women, especially not like this. I thought my perverted thoughts were the worst part lately but it is not.
Even the genuine moments are causing me to melt... Is that even the right word for me to use?
"Elyndra isn’t that much further away, hope you are ready." Malrik speaks up, interrupting the moment.
Lilly hasn’t said too much either which worries me but I guess we are finally about to reach our stop.
