Chapter 79: The Floating City
My thoughts were interrupted when I started to see the inside of this legendary city that everyone talks about so much. The city streets were made out of blue crystals that seem to glow faintly as the people walk.
Occasionally it would shift in a way that the clouds would be seen below their feet which was insane to see. Some archways went throughout the city, gleaming white alloys laced with gold filigree and silver runes.
But what really caught my eye was the giant spire in the center of the city. It was a towering crystalline core with a radiant glow to it as it went further up.
That was definitely the main source of power that keeps the city afloat, even though I doubt that it is the only source.
Most of the homes seem to be a lot like mini villas and towers with open balconies that face the endless horizon. Banners also seem to drape down some of the homes and even the normal buildings.
Family crests up in a place like this, how shocking is that? Not at all.
"Its beauty is definitely captivating to see for the first time." Malrik speaks up as he starts landing the ship.
People were wearing white robes laced with gold while some had hints of silver, I’d assume it is a personal ranking of sorts.
"I won’t deny the beauty part but this place is definitely a lot more than I expected." I respond while looking around.
Looking at this place now, I definitely couldn’t see myself living in such a place. People here probably feel entitled to everything which is not the way for me to live.
I’m more confident that I’ll find my answers now but there is a good chance that people won’t be too kind. I definitely am dressed nicer than when I first left the Junkyard... Just this isn’t anywhere near the style of their city.
Who cares about how some stuck up assholes dress.
I mean that is a valid point. I’m here to deliver this envelope and maybe find some answers to the questions I have. Guild halls are always going to be the answer for where to look.
I’m just not entirely sure because they also seem to have value on family crests here which throws me off quite a bit. I also expected them to be more heavy on the technology here.
It seems to be the complete opposite of what I expected after reaching the city for the first time.
The ship finally docks and Malrik gestures for us to depart from the ship. "Just come back whenever you finish here. I’ll be waiting for the time being." Malrik says before heading back onto the ship.
"I feel off here." Lilly says softly with a bit of worry in her voice.
"I do too but we have each other so let’s push through this." I reply while giving a warm smile.
Ghost steps ahead of us for a moment. "Let’s go find some answers, no reason to worry about a thing when we are all together." Lilly says with happiness in her voice.
Honestly I’m feeling kind of exhausted... When was the last time that I slept? We’ve been on the move constantly lately and there hasn’t been much stopping.
Sleep, food, and a minute to breathe would probably be a good idea. I’m sure it is going to be a lot more expensive to stay somewhere here.
"I need some sleep first in all honesty. Let’s find a place to stay." I suggest while starting to walk.
"Roku does need some sleep, I do too actually." Lilly speaks up before letting out a yawn.
With that in mind we decided to look for a place to stay while avoiding any interactions with the locals. People were already glaring at us the way it is since we don’t fit in here at all.
The city truly was a beautiful sight to see in person but at least we finally found somewhere to stay. ’The Golden Apple.’ What a name for a place to stay.
After walking inside we were greeted with a beautiful silver floor that wasn’t too blinding on the eyes, nice decor around the lobby, and a beautiful woman behind the counter waiting.
"Hello Miss, I’d like a room for the three of us please." I speak with a polite tone.
I didn’t really take notice of her appearance much since she probably wouldn’t matter to us later anyway. Other than the blonde hair that she has, the uniform she had on was nice as well.
"200 silvite for the night." She replied while extending her hand out.
200?!?! I knew it would be expensive but is that really expensive? I can’t even remember how much it was at the last place we stayed.
I dig through my pouch for a moment before finding the silvite needed to secure our room for the night. "Thank you. First floor on the right over on the other side of the stairs." She says with a big smile across her face.
"Sleep. Sleep. Sleep. It’s calling." Lilly sings softly as she walks past us.
We all head for the room and head inside. It only had one bed for the three of us so it seems we’ll be sharing the bed this time around.
I can sense the perverted thoughts, they are coming already.
Definitely wasn’t even going to think in a perverted way you jerk. I’m honestly exhausted so that’s a bit too much thinking for me right now.
The room has some pictures of some of the what I assume to be ’founders’ of the city and some strong hunters on the wall. But the bed looks nice and comfy.
I didn’t hesitate to lay on the bed after sitting my stuff down. Not long after that, Lilly and Ghost laid next to me in the bed.
Ghost was on the right side of me while Lilly was on the left.
"Goodnight girls." I say without thinking.
