Chapter 10 The Tranquil Gods

The two goddesses chatted for a while, and Tyche recounted the dramatic tales of her sister Electra and Thaumas. The meteor goddess fell into a thoughtful silence, and after a long pause, she spoke, "My sister holds a tranquil divine office, bestowed upon her for bringing night to the world as daylight recedes. This tranquil office is shared by many gods of darkness and night. The primordial Nyx did not wish to fulfill the tranquil office and descend to the earth, so she relinquished the origin and divine office of tranquility."

She paused, then continued thoughtfully, "Your sister can assume the tranquil divine office of the sea. The gods of night will not bear her ill will for this, as her joining will expand the influence of the tranquil divine office."

Tyche was overjoyed and clutched the gauze skirt in her hand, "The gods of the sea will welcome the arrival of tranquil power. The three powerful deities will surely support my sister Electra, and all of this is thanks to you!"

The meteor goddess smiled gently, "The power of the tranquil divine office integrating into the sea realm will benefit all deities who share this office. This will be a collaboration welcomed by both the sea realm and the celestial realm."

Tyche immediately summoned dolphins to inform Tethys. Tethys responded swiftly to her daughter's call, her form manifesting from condensed seawater. The loving Tethys personally arrived on the small island. The two goddesses bowed to the sea goddess. Tethys gently took their arms and affectionately said to Astrea, "I have already greeted your mother, and she is very willing to come for this."

The prophetic Phoebe descended from the sky with three deities. Besides the moon god and the moonlit night goddess who had returned, the third deity was a winged male god. His face was etched with fatigue, and his dark eyes were filled with a misty haze. Astrea whispered to Tyche, "This is Hypnos, the god of sleep. The origin of tranquility comes from his mother."

Tyche nodded, indicating she understood. The two mothers had already begun to embrace affectionately. This was a rare meeting after the divine feast, as deities whose divine offices were unrelated rarely had the chance to meet. Phoebe, the prophetic goddess, had bright eyes, and the power of her divine office always kept her composed. Tyche had no doubt that this far-sighted goddess had already foreseen this event.

After pleasantries, Phoebe reached an agreement with the deities who shared the tranquil divine office, consenting to share it with Electra. In return, the three powerful sea gods could not resist the tranquil power manifesting in the sea realm.

Phoebe rose calmly and declared with finality, "From this moment on, Electra is the tranquil goddess of the sea!" The deities of tranquility bore witness. The origin responded to this declaration, and a small blue divine spark fell into Phoebe's hand. After entrusting the divine spark to Tethys and bidding farewell, Phoebe returned to the celestial realm, and the tranquil deities welcomed Electra's arrival together. Tyche lightly sensed the divine spark. The divine office of the tranquil bay within the spark was sufficient for Electra to become a minor deity. Whether she could ascend further would depend on Electra herself.

Everything proceeded smoothly. Electra's divine fire was successfully ignited. Her divinity, inherited from the two sea Titans, perfectly accepted the divine office of the tranquil bay, and Electra became a complete goddess. A lavish banquet was held on the island, filled with the laughter and joy of the deities. The abundant produce of the ocean flowed in, and the island also offered various fruits. Electra's beautiful singing echoed across the island.

Hemera, the goddess of day, withdrew her radiant veil, and the two night goddesses departed. The weary god of sleep had already vanished. Tethys and Electra returned to the seabed, leaving only the idle meteor goddess behind. Tyche asked curiously, "My dear friend, why do you not fulfill the duties assigned to you by your divine office and display your brilliance in the night sky?"

Astrea appeared very calm, "My dear Tyche, the brilliance of meteors is not eternal. The duties bestowed upon me by my divine office do not bind me. It is enough for meteors to have appeared." Tyche looked at her indifferent friend and couldn't help but worry, "That will stifle your potential, and you will remain at a lesser divine power, unable to break through. Why not ask the great god Koios to grant you a new divine office?"

The meteor goddess laughed joyfully, "Don't worry about me, my friend. I have inherited my mother's prophetic divinity. The divine office of celestial phenomena is being nurtured within my mother's embrace, and I will be the holder of this divine office." As she spoke, she waved her hands, and starlight emanated from them. "When the divine office of celestial phenomena is fully nurtured, I will become the goddess of the starry night and share my sister's work."

Tyche finally breathed a sigh of relief and sighed helplessly, "Your prophetic divinity gives you foresight. You believe you have seen through the arrangements of fate, but you forget that the future is like the sea before us. Beneath the calm surface lie turbulent undercurrents."

Having said this, and seeing that the meteor goddess did not seem to comprehend her advice, Tyche changed the subject and began to gossip, "Did you know that the King and Queen of the gods are fighting again? The conflict of time is still raging on earth, and time remains chaotic in many places."

Upon hearing the gossip, Astrea's spirits lifted, and she excitedly chimed in, "We could see it very clearly from the celestial realm. The King of the gods swallowed his second daughter, and the Queen's wails were so terrifying that we dared not appear in the sky!"
