Boom!
The talisman exploded in the alien's mouth.
The huge fireball shattered, and then, visibly, half of the alien's head was gone. Pools of shredded flesh and viscous, foul-smelling green fluid dripped incessantly onto the ground, where white smoke billowed and hissed.
This attack was a severe blow to the alien, but...
It wasn't dead yet!
The title of "most perfect combat organism" wasn't earned for nothing. The alien's terror lay not only in its combat ability but also in its vitality. Half its head was gone, revealing its skeletal structure, yet the alien bared its half-mouth and charged towards Bai Ye.
Bai Ye quickly threw himself backward, landing flat on his back.
The corridor wasn't wide. With the alien at full speed, this was the only evasion method Bai Ye could think of.
Bang!
The alien leaped over Bai Ye's head, smashing into a metal door behind him. With a tremendous crash, the door was knocked down, and the alien tumbled after it.
It led into an octagonal hall, noticeably larger.
Bai Ye quickly got to his feet. The moment he pursued into the octagonal hall, he conjured another talisman in his hand.
"Thunder Flash!"
Bai Ye let out a low cry. As the talisman between his fingers burned away, a bolt of electricity suddenly appeared, striking the alien's back with force.
The Thunder Spell, evolved into Thunder Flash, had indeed significantly increased in power. The current struck down, forcing the alien's massive body to sag, its dorsal carapace shattering, and white smoke billowing from its body.
More importantly...
The paralyzing effect!
Despite its ferocity, the alien tried to force itself back up after being hit by Thunder Flash. However, at that moment, a torrent of electricity enveloped its body, causing it to convulse.
Clearly, the paralysis effect had taken hold, preventing the alien from moving easily.
Given this opportunity, why wait?
Bai Ye strode forward, picked up a grenade, pulled the pin, and tossed it into the alien's shattered head. He then turned and fled, rolling out of the room and back into the corridor.
Boom!
Just then, a deafening explosion ripped through the air, spewing flames out of the room.
Bai Ye could feel the scorching heat wave engulfing him. The fur collar of his coat began to sizzle and crackle, followed by a burnt smell.
Three to five minutes later, after the flames subsided, Bai Ye slowly got up. The surrounding walls were blackened with smoke, and metal plates lay scattered on the ground.
Returning to the room, he found the alien's corpse lying on the floor, utterly unrecognizable. Its head was completely blown apart, and its body was severed in the middle, split into two halves. A blown-off right leg lay in a corner, still smoldering.
Bai Ye pulled out a cigarette, put it in his mouth, and relaxed slightly.
This thing was truly hard to kill!
Bai Ye felt that the combat ability of a regular alien was manageable. It was slightly stronger than his T-virus enhanced body, perhaps eight or nine times the strength of a normal human. It looked terrifying, but after half a year in the World Battlefield, most chosen ones could reach this level.
Its offensive methods were troublesome, with its entire body capable of being used as a weapon, but it wasn't insurmountable. Therefore, its true strength lay in its resilience.
Bai Ye had to detonate it twice to incapacitate it, and both times were internal explosions. If it were an external explosion, due to its carapace protection, Bai Ye believed it might take more than ten direct blasts to blow the thing to pieces.
After finishing his cigarette, Bai Ye casually flicked the butt away and continued his journey forward.
But at that moment...
"Hello, hello, can everyone hear me?" a voice suddenly came over the broadcast: "First, let me introduce myself, my name is Lin Jiadong. I'm not here to command anyone, but to tell you all that we can cooperate in this restricted zone. Because both Restricted Zone Mission One and Restricted Zone Mission Two are escape missions, there's no conflict between us. We can absolutely cooperate to leave the research base... static... static... static..."
Midway through the voice's speech, the broadcast was suddenly filled with a cacophony of noise, along with the sound of something falling.
However, it only lasted for about half a minute.
"Apologies, there was a slight issue with the broadcast equipment. Can you all hear me clearly now? For those who are set on killing the Predator Alien, I won't force you to cooperate. But if you simply wish to escape here and complete Restricted Zone Mission One and Restricted Zone Mission Two, I hope we can unite. We can become companions and work together to overcome this ordeal. Therefore, if you are interested in my proposal, please gather at the mess hall in Zone East A2. I will be waiting for you there."
After the man named Lin Jiadong finished speaking, the broadcast returned to static for a short while before gradually fading out.
Bai Ye stroked his chin. It seemed there were still plenty of "talents" around.
Bai Ye found Lin Jiadong quite interesting because he accurately analyzed the current situation.
The core of the restricted zone's conflict was the competition for rewards from the restricted zone missions, especially the fragments of the God Stone. However, in this restricted zone, only Restricted Zone Mission Three, killing the Predator Alien, was unique and required competition. The other two were escape missions, with no inherent conflict, thus no need for bloodshed.
Therefore, Lin Jiadong's attempt to persuade everyone to cooperate was feasible. After all, there was only one Predator Alien, and only one person could complete the mission. Not everyone would necessarily give up their claim, but many would likely choose to do so. Cooperating purely for survival and escape was understandable. Moreover, there were still two other restricted zone missions, which could at least help improve one's strength.
However, Bai Ye couldn't shake the feeling that Lin Jiadong's abrupt half-minute interruption of the broadcast was odd. Did the broadcast equipment truly malfunction? Or was it operator error? Why was there the sound of things falling mixed in?
Bai Ye pondered for a moment, then dismissed the thought.
Meanwhile...
At the research base's broadcast room...
A scent of blood slowly wafted from behind the door, and blood trickled across the floor.
Inside the broadcast room, a corpse lay slumped, its chest pierced with a large hole.
And in front of the broadcast room's speaker...
A Predator Warrior sat there, holding a microphone. Soon after, it turned off the broadcast equipment, donned its mask, picked up the spear lying nearby, stepped over the corpse in the room, and walked out of the broadcast room. 138Reading.com
