Ice Beam!
Bai Ye ran quickly down the corridor, and behind him was a large white bird resembling a seagull.
The white bird opened its large mouth, and a silvery-white beam of light appeared, spraying towards Bai Ye.
The next moment…
Crack, crack, crack!
The sound of freezing echoed continuously. Where the beam passed, frost rapidly formed, freezing everything.
At that moment…
Bai Ye abruptly stopped and lunged back at the white bird.
"You group of beast tamers…" Bai Ye drew his Zanpakuto and swung it forward forcefully, "Why are you all getting involved!"
*Poof!*
A flash of blade light!
Bai Ye seized the opportunity when the opponent's attack ended to launch a sudden assault. With a swift movement, a splash of blood flew, and the white bird fell to the ground.
Bai Ye exhaled a long breath and sheathed his Zanpakuto.
Xenomorphs and Predators were troublesome enough; these beast tamers running around to join the fray was quite a headache.
Thinking this, Bai Ye continued forward. Soon, he reached the door at the end of the corridor. Bai Ye shattered the electronic lock with a punch, and the automatic sliding door before him moved aside.
The next moment, the scene inside the room unfolded before Bai Ye, making him pause, and then…
Bai Ye silently grasped the hilt of his Zanpakuto and stepped into the room.
As Bai Ye walked forward, his soles dragged along threads of blood, for the room was filled with blood and corpses!
The corpses had similar causes of death. Most were pierced through the chest by sharp objects, while some bodies were incomplete, showing clear signs of being gnawed upon.
It was easy to infer that this was likely the work of the Xenomorphs.
However, after surveying the surroundings, Bai Ye found no signs of Xenomorph activity. It seemed they had left after the killings.
Thinking this, Bai Ye moved to the other end of the room.
The door was blocked by a corpse, which was slumped against it, propping it shut.
Without much thought, Bai Ye lifted his foot to kick the corpse aside. At that moment, a bulge suddenly appeared on the corpse's chest, swelling visibly like a balloon.
This sudden turn of events made Bai Ye pause, his foot suspended in mid-air.
Then…
With a *pop*!
The corpse's chest suddenly split open, and a large amount of blood mixed with foul-smelling, sickly green fluid sprayed out.
A Xenomorph, about the size of an arm, suddenly burst from the corpse's chest and lunged towards Bai Ye.
Bai Ye reacted swiftly, leaping to the side. The little Xenomorph narrowly missed Bai Ye's chest, its head smashing against the wall.
Upon landing, the little Xenomorph shook its head, seemingly dazed by the impact, and then…
*Poof!*
A playing card suddenly flew, shattering the little Xenomorph's carapace and embedding itself in its back.
"Aargh, aargh, aargh…"
The little Xenomorph let out a pained cry, writhing its body, and then…
*Poof, poof, poof!*
The sound of air being pierced echoed continuously. One playing card after another flew from behind, embedding themselves in the little Xenomorph’s back, forming a dense cluster.
When the little Xenomorph could no longer stand and could only struggle on the ground, Bai Ye stepped forward, raised his Zanpakuto, and brought it down with force.
With a *slash*, the little Xenomorph was decapitated. Bai Ye's blade severed its head.
The headless little Xenomorph twitched on the ground for a while longer before gradually ceasing to move, finally dead.
Xenomorphs, though incredibly resilient, were clearly newly hatched in this case. Even with their tenacity, their vitality was limited.
However, the appearance of the little Xenomorph made Bai Ye feel that things were becoming increasingly troublesome.
Because the Xenomorphs had begun laying eggs!
This meant their numbers would surge!
Indeed, as Bai Ye thought this, he pushed the door open and entered the corridor. He saw seven or eight corpses lying haphazardly on the ground. Their heads were all covered by an eight-legged insect, with a long tail at the end that pierced directly into the corpse's mouth.
Bai Ye squatted down and pulled one of the insects off. The insect was already dead.
"Facehugger!" Bai Ye murmured, "The Xenomorphs have indeed begun mass egg-laying."
Facehuggers were the larval stage of Xenomorphs used for reproduction.
In fact, Xenomorph eggs did not contain Xenomorphs themselves, but rather facehuggers. Xenomorphs did not hatch directly from eggs; instead, facehuggers would hatch and search for other life forms to infest. After a certain period, the facehugger would die, and the larval Xenomorph would appear within the host, draining its life force. Once it gained enough nourishment, it would burst forth from the chest.
The Predalien in Mission Three of the Forbidden Zone was a Predator that had been infested by a facehugger, thus birthing the Predalien.
Therefore, Bai Ye had anticipated that the Xenomorphs would nest and lay eggs in the research base. However, despite anticipating it, the reality still gave him a headache.
One Xenomorph and a horde of Xenomorphs were not the same concept.
Moreover, this was the reason why the Forbidden Zone mission was to escape the research base. If it were only a few Predators or a few Xenomorphs, it wouldn't have caused so many people to flee.
Thus, the current problem was that the Xenomorphs would use the people entering here to lay eggs and hatch new Xenomorphs. As the Xenomorphs increased in number, the humans would dwindle, and not fleeing would be a death sentence.
Bai Ye pondered as he walked down the corridor. The sliding door ahead opened again, but at that moment…
A dark silhouette suddenly appeared before Bai Ye.
What was going on?
Before Bai Ye could react, he was violently slammed by the dark silhouette, sending him crashing back into the corridor.
This unexpected misfortune left Bai Ye bewildered. Lying on the ground, clutching his nose, Bai Ye's blood ran cold the moment he recognized the dark silhouette.
Because a massive, blood-soaked maw appeared before him, about to bite down.
The person who had collided with him was, in fact, a Xenomorph!
"Your grandma's!"
Bai Ye quickly thrust his Zanpakuto into the Xenomorph's mouth, bracing against its upper jaw to prevent it from biting him. The Xenomorph struggled relentlessly, shaking its head and pressing down on Bai Ye, trying to bite him.
After several seconds of stalemate, a shadow suddenly rushed out of the room and leaped high into the air.
Bai Ye looked up and saw a Predator. He immediately understood that the Predator and the Xenomorph must have been fighting in the room, and he had stumbled into the middle of it.
However, what was the meaning of this leaping stab with a dagger?
He was still pinned down by the Xenomorph…
Wait a minute!
