Chapter 630 I'll See You Off

Back in the hospital room, Ye Wan still felt a searing pain in her heart. She was too weak to speak. When Jin Lan offered her medication, she refused. She was pregnant now, and while Gu Yunting might not want the baby, she did. She couldn't take medication that would harm her child.

"No, I'm fine," Ye Wan said faintly.

"..."

Jin Lan didn't know how to persuade her. It was normal for her to be distressed and sad after such an ordeal. Little did she know, Gu Yunting was suffering even more than she was.

His right hand had been severely burned. Even with careful attention, he didn't take care of it. The wound repeatedly became infected. Moreover, for some unknown reason, his right hand remained tightly clenched, refusing to open no matter what. Now, his right hand was practically crippled, and it might never open fully again. Surgery might be an option, but it was uncertain how much it could recover.

Thinking about it made Jin Lan feel upset.

"Ye Wan, are you thirsty? Have some water," Ning Xin approached with a glass of water, handing it to Ye Wan with concern. "You just ate, and you haven't had any water. You must be thirsty."

Ye Wan was indeed a little thirsty. She didn't think much of it, took the water, and thanked her.

"Don't mention it. We're classmates. You're sick, so it's only right that I take care of you," Ning Xin said, looking at her with feigned concern.

Jiang Yan, recalling Ning Xin's expression outside the emergency room, knew she wasn't sincere and felt disgusted. However, she realized she hadn't been thoughtful enough to even consider Ye Wan might need water.

"Ning Xin, thank you for bringing me to the hospital. You should head back to school now; don't let this delay you," Ye Wan said. Her mood was terrible, and she had no energy to deal with anyone.

"There's nothing important at school today. I see Jiang Yan doesn't seem to be feeling well, so let her go back. I'll stay and keep you company." Ning Xin didn't want to leave. She saw this as a good opportunity to mend her relationship with Ye Wan. People were most vulnerable when they were sick.

"You don't need to. I'll stay with Ye Wan. You should go back," Jiang Yan's tone was dripping with annoyance.

"Jiang Yan, don't pretend to be strong. Look at your pale face. You should go back and rest." Ning Xin had become thick-skinned in front of them. She simply wouldn't leave. What could they do about it?

"You both can leave. I don't need anyone to keep me company. I just want some peace and quiet right now. Jin Lan, please help me escort them out." Ye Wan issued a clear dismissal.

Jiang Yan looked at Ye Wan's pale face and regretted losing her temper at this moment. She said, "I'll stay and keep you company then."

"Silly girl, go back," Ye Wan could see that Jiang Yan was unhappy because of Ning Xin. The affectionate term already showed their closeness; there was no need for further explanation.

Ning Xin, thinking Jin Lan would escort her back, readily agreed. "Ye Wan, you get some rest. Call me if you need anything. My phone is on twenty-four hours."

"Thank you," Ye Wan replied, her tone polite yet distant.

Outside, Jin Lan immediately told the two girls to go back to work. It was his working hours, and he didn't have time to escort them.

Ning Xin's plan had failed. Her eyes darted around as she caught up to Jin Lan. "Dr. Jin, I have something I'd like to consult you about, if that's alright?"

Jiang Yan looked at Ning Xin with extreme displeasure. She walked over and said, "Dr. Jin, I'm feeling unwell right now. Could you give me a ride home?"

Jin Lan's gaze swept over the two girls before he nodded. "Alright, I'll take you."
