Chapter 23 My Father Is Still Alive

"Senior Brother, you were looking for me?"

Chu Lingwei was cultivating in her room when she heard her Senior Brother's telepathic message.

"Take a look at this."

Leng Xingzhi handed a notice to Chu Lingwei.

Chu Lingwei, not understanding, took it and examined it closely, her face turning astonished.

"This was written by my father?" Her father, Chu Ze, had left when Chu Lingwei was four years old, at which point she was illiterate.

As she grew older, Chu Lingwei would visit her father's cave dwelling, where Chu Ze's notes were kept. Having seen them so often, Chu Lingwei could recognize Chu Ze's handwriting at a glance.

"Yes." Leng Xingzhi nodded. This notice had already spread throughout the Xuan Tian Continent; Chu Chang could not have faked it.

"How is that possible?" Chu Lingwei couldn't believe it. She looked again at the notice in her hand. This was actually a copy of a personal letter written by the former Sect Master of Xuan Xin Sect to Chu Chang before he left the sect.

The letter stated that he had a premonition of a life-or-death tribulation. If he received no news after five years away from the sect, he would not return.

The position of Sect Master of Xuan Xin Sect was to be handed over to Chu Chang.

This letter bore Chu Ze's own special imprint, which even a powerful being at the Three-Day Realm could not imitate. Therefore, this private letter was indeed personally written by Chu Ze of Xuan Xin Sect.

"Senior Brother, I don't believe it."

Chu Lingwei knew Su Xianrou and Chu Chang too well. They had long coveted the entire Xuan Xin Sect. If they truly possessed her father's letter, they would never have waited an extra five years.

Leng Xingzhi offered no opinion but quietly looked at Chu Lingwei. "Little Junior Sister, what are your thoughts?"

"This letter must have been written by my father recently. My father must still be alive."

Chu Lingwei answered with absolute certainty. They had just confirmed Chu Chang's position as Sect Master, and he immediately produced her father's personal letter as proof. There was only one possibility: her father was alive.

Moreover, Chu Chang must know where he was.

Thinking of this, Chu Lingwei took a deep breath. Chu Chang's brazenness indicated that her father must be in grave danger at this moment.

She had to go and save her father.

"Little Junior Sister, in three days, the Heng Tian Secret Realm will open. Let's discuss everything after we emerge from the realm."

Leng Xingzhi's eyes flickered. He shared the same thought as Chu Lingwei; perhaps the former Sect Master of Xuan Xin Sect was trapped within the sect itself.

Chu Lingwei tightly clenched the notice in her hand, forcing herself to calm down. She nodded, "I will do as Senior Brother arranges."

To save her father, she needed strength.

Leng Xingzhi was pleased with Chu Lingwei's decision. She hadn't acted rashly; that was good.

"If your father is still alive, he will not be in mortal peril for the time being. Chu family disciples must not kill each other, or they will face retribution. Little Junior Sister can rest assured and head to the Heng Tian Secret Realm. Once the realm closes, I will accompany Little Junior Sister to Xuan Xin Sect."

A mere small sect was beneath Leng Xingzhi's consideration.

Accompanying his own Junior Sister, however, was a different matter.

"Thank you, Senior Brother."

Chu Lingwei was not in a position to be arrogant now. Her father's life was at stake. If Senior Brother was willing to help, she would repay him in other ways in the future.

Emerging from Senior Brother's room, Chu Lingwei did not return to her own room to continue cultivating but instead walked onto the streets.

"Young Master, Fairy Ling has gone out," the innkeeper quickly reported to Leng Xingzhi.

"Have someone follow her, and make sure no one bullies her." Leng Xingzhi's gaze was cold as he waved the innkeeper away.

"Yes."

"This Little Junior Sister is indeed delicate," Leng Xingzhi murmured, a cryptic smile appearing on his lips. He rose and vanished from his spot, the surrounding barrier shimmering, leaving no trace.

In three days, the Heng Tian Secret Realm would open. The cultivators on the street had more than doubled compared to usual.

The attire of disciples from various sects was interspersed amongst them, creating a magnificent sight.

"Oh, isn't this Little Junior Sister?" As Chu Lingwei entered the Spirit Tea House, a charming voice called out from upstairs.

"Greetings, Senior Sister." Chu Lingwei went upstairs and sat directly at Mei Ji's table. They could be considered old acquaintances.

"Little Junior Sister, what brings you out for Spirit Tea today?" Mei Ji had never met a female cultivator who dared to associate with them. Her voice was full of allure, and she leaned close to Chu Lingwei.

Captivating men was meaningless; making women happy was the true test of her charm.

"We're about to enter the secret realm, so I came to hear about any fresh news." Chu Lingwei poured herself a cup of Spirit Tea, her gaze sweeping across the entire Spirit Tea House.

The Spirit Tea House was now filled with disciples from various sects, all discussing the imminent opening of the Heng Tian Secret Realm.

"What fresh news could there be? It's just a pity about Senior Brother Leng." Mei Jiao's voice held a hint of regret. Senior Brother Leng had just questioned the Sect Master position of Xuan Xin Sect, and Xuan Xin Sect had immediately produced evidence.

"I tend to believe Senior Brother Leng's words." Chu Lingwei finished Mei Jiao's sentence. Chu Chang was a scoundrel; he wasn't that selfless.

Hearing Chu Lingwei's words, Mei Ji's eyes flashed with surprise, and a smile bloomed on her face. "It seems Little Junior Sister is quite fond of Senior Brother Leng?"

"Senior Brother Leng is a celestial prodigy. Naturally, I admire him." Chu Lingwei did not conceal her feelings, ignoring the subtle gazes cast her way from within the tea house.

Chu Lingwei sat with Mei Ji and the others for an hour. They discussed the outstanding elite disciples of various sects, giving her a more in-depth understanding of the elite male disciples from each sect.

Upon leaving the Spirit Tea House, Chu Lingwei felt something unusual about herself.

"Weiwei, you have a tracking spiritual butterfly on you." Feng Ming, who had just awakened, immediately sensed something on Chu Lingwei and transmitted a message.

"I know." Chu Lingwei felt the abnormality on her body. She was simply devising a way to deal with it.

A tracking spiritual butterfly?

"It's gone."

Before Chu Lingwei could return to the inn, Feng Ming's voice came again. "Weiwei, I've already left a mark on it. When it appears within a hundred miles, I'll detect it."

Feng Ming was furious. How dare it track her master! She would never let it get away with it.

Chu Lingwei smiled. "It seems you've gained quite a bit."

Upon returning to the inn, Feng Ming leaped out of the spirit beast bag. Her body showed no outward change, but her spiritual energy was abundant, no longer appearing listless.

"Weiwei, I'm already Fourth Order now. I can protect Weiwei." Feng Ming circled in mid-air, her eyes shining with surprise and joy.

She never expected Weiwei's master to be so generous. She decided she would no longer hold a grudge over his previous attempt to eat her.

"Are your injuries healed?" Chu Lingwei held Feng Ming in her arms. Her voice was soft and sweet, like that of a four or five-year-old girl, quite adorable.

Feng Ming's voice held a hint of disappointment. "Not yet. My injuries have only healed by a tenth."

Chu Lingwei inwardly marveled. To reach Fourth Order with only a tenth of her injuries healed, if she were fully recovered, she would be incredibly formidable.
