Madam Jade

Chapter 344 The Ancient Castle's Terror Part Forty-Four

Since they arrived, despite the large numbers, it was only their people who had died in these past few days.

In contrast, Ning Wei's group started with seven people, and they remained seven.

Clinging to a powerful ally was the only way to survive, this was the current mindset of these people.

Before Ning Wei could speak, Wu Qing grew impatient. She slammed the table and chided, "Enough, enough! It's time to eat. We waste so much time every single day, it's so annoying!"

When Wu Qing got angry, the crowd immediately fell silent.

Maids emerged from the rooms, each carrying delicate dinner plates.

"Today is the fifth daytime. We hope all guests have a pleasant stay." Wu Qing's voice faded as she disappeared.

The maids retreated a few steps, quietly observing the guests as they ate.

A man approached Ning Wei with a lecherous grin and whispered, "Is the housekeeper really gone? We want to take..."

His gaze was fixed on the steak knives, his intentions clear.

Ning Wei pondered for a moment. The steak knives were intended for dealing with the werewolves at night anyway, so she nodded slightly, "Take them stealthily."

The man trusted Ning Wei implicitly and, with a smile, returned to his seat.

He whispered to his teammates, and before they could even attempt to steal, they were already looking around guiltily.

To get their hands on the steak knives sooner, they ate incredibly fast.

Just as one of the men was about to secretly grab a knife, to set an example for his companions, a woman's voice suddenly rang out.

"Housekeeper! Housekeeper! Someone's stealing!" Qing Qing shouted.

The man, startled, quickly put the steak knife back in its place. He then placed his hands on his lap, feigning innocence.

But Wu Qing didn't appear, and the man's heart leaped into his throat.

"Qing Qing, are you exposing your identity this soon?" Ning Wei looked at her, her gaze colder than the silver steak knife.

Among the ghosts present, apart from Ning Wei's group, the remaining four men and Bai Yang were unaware.

Ning Wei hadn't intended to tell them, thinking it would be better for them to remain in ignorance.

However, due to the attempted theft of the steak knives, Qing Qing had revealed herself on the spot.

Meeting Ning Wei's icy stare, Qing Qing did not back down. "Every man for himself, heaven and earth will destroy them."

"Very well." Ning Wei smiled and then fell silent.

"Then we..." The man was still unwilling to give up. Since Wu Qing hadn't appeared, his mischievous intent resurfaced.

Ning Wei gave him a slight nod.

The man's spirits immediately lifted as if he had received divine assurance. By this time, the maids had begun clearing the table, and the four men, along with Bai Yang, had all stealthily taken steak knives.

Among these five people, there was still one ghost hidden.

Ning Wei rested her chin on her hand, her eyes darting between them, wondering who this ghost could be.

"There are fourteen people seated here now. In reality, three of them are ghosts. Qing Qing and Qi Qi's identities are already quite obvious."

"As for the third one, do any of you have any thoughts?" Ning Wei couldn't figure it out, so she posed the question to everyone for collective thought.

The four men were terrified. They hadn't expected that the women in their group would turn out to be female ghosts.

Therefore, they instinctively looked at Bai Yang, whose face was also pale. She was seated between Qing Qing and Qi Qi, two female ghosts.

Bai Yang, frightened, pulled her chair back. After glancing at Ning Wei, she mustered her courage and dragged her chair to Ning Wei's side.

"For my sister's sake, can you protect me again?" She was the only living woman left in their group, and the four men were eyeing her menacingly. Helpless, Bai Yang could only beg Ning Wei for help.

Ning Wei tilted her head and looked at her, a smile playing on her lips. "Of course. For your sister's sake, I will take good care of you."

"Ning Wei!" Tang Tang disagreed and softly called Ning Wei's name.

Ning Wei looked over and gave her a reassuring look.

Zhu Yilian tugged at Tang Tang's clothes under the table and shook her head at her.

"Bai Yang, who do you think among those four could be the ghost?" Ning Wei turned to face Bai Yang directly, asking her thoughts with a serious expression.

Bai Yang was taken aback for a moment, then looked at the four men. "I really don't know. I only just got on the bus, and I don't know any of them."

"It's alright, I was just asking casually. Don't be nervous," Ning Wei patiently soothed Bai Yang.

"Since the ghost is among you, then observe each other more closely. If you get any information, you can tell me anytime," Ning Wei said slowly, looking at the four men.

The four men didn't know who the ghost was, but one thing was certain: those protected by Ning Wei were definitely not the ghost.

Therefore, what Ning Wei said must be true; there was indeed a ghost among them.

Thinking this, the four men created distance between themselves.

Ning Wei and her group were already lying on the sofas, preparing to rest.

They had dealt with the werewolves on the past three nights, so sofas were arranged around the lounge, one for each person, which was enough.

Qing Qing and Qi Qi, as ghosts whose identities were exposed, were directly sent to the back garden by Zhu Yilian and the others.

"I feel like my brain capacity isn't enough. Why do all four of those men seem innocent to me?" Tang Tang whispered to Zhu Yilian.

"Then do you think the ghost could be among us?" Zhu Yilian countered.

Tang Tang thought for a long time. They had always acted together; it was impossible for a ghost to appear among them.

However, meeting Zhu Yilian's serious expression, Tang Tang racked her brain and went through everyone.

"I don't think it's one of our teammates," she said very seriously to Zhu Yilian.

Zhu Yilian rolled her eyes and gently pushed Tang Tang's head with her finger. "You're so silly!"

With that push, Tang Tang's gaze landed on Ning Wei, who was currently chatting with Bai Yang like a friendly older sister about Xue and Li Zi'ang.

In that instant, Tang Tang had a sudden realization.

She raised her finger, about to point at Bai Yang, but Zhu Yilian immediately clasped her finger. Then, Zhu Yilian's eyes signaled her to say nothing.

Tang Tang understood and walked towards the sofas with Zhu Yilian.

Yuan Yuan and Wang Jing were already waiting on the sofas. Every day, the four of them slept in two groups on the two sofas.

Tang Tang tried to process the facts Zhu Yilian had analyzed for her. Closing her eyes, she lay on the sofa, the low voices of Ning Wei and Bai Yang discussing matters in her ears.

She couldn't fathom why Ning Wei suspected Bai Yang.

After all, they had met Bai Yang since getting off the bus, and Bai Yang had walked with them in front of Sheng Kaiwei's group.

Later, Bai Yang was tricked by Ning Wei into going undercover as a spy, so they basically knew everything Bai Yang was doing.

So when had Bai Yang become a ghost?

Tang Tang couldn't figure it out and eventually fell asleep.

Ning Wei listened to everyone's calm breathing and looked at Bai Yang's innocent face, saying, "Since your sister is gone, then consider me your sister."
