Madam Jade

Chapter 343 The Ancient Castle's Fright 43

He gritted his teeth, watching Lian Yun's smugness, but felt helpless.

With this small act, Lian Yun had caused another man's death.

Now, only four men and Bai Yang remained in the team.

"Ning Wei, save me!" Bai Yang pleaded with Ning Wei in fear.

After killing the limping werewolf, Ning Wei dealt with another werewolf amidst Bai Yang's cries for help.

She looked over with a cold face. Lian Yun had extended a third hand, right behind Bai Yang.

Although Ning Wei disliked Bai Yang, she now detested the foolish Lian Yun even more.

She rushed over with superhuman speed, grabbed Bai Yang's wrist, and then swung the silver dinner knife at Lian Yun.

Knowing she couldn't hurt Lian Yun, this blow was merely a lesson.

As expected, the knife passed through Lian Yun's body. Besides a look of surprise, her body turned ethereal, making it impossible to grasp her.

Lian Yun grinned, her smugness making Ning Wei want to tear her face off!

"I'll deal with you later!" Ning Wei threatened Lian Yun and then went to help her teammates with the dinner knife.

An hour later, the werewolf attack ended with four deaths.

Ning Wei stood in the hall, watching the werewolves retreat from the castle again. She then checked everyone and found that two people had died, and everyone else, except herself, had sustained injuries of varying degrees.

Lian Yun's identity was fully exposed, and her actions tonight had infuriated everyone.

She had completely given up, dragging a stool to sit down with an indifferent expression.

Seeing her like this, Ning Wei's suspicions resurfaced.

Why had she been so afraid of her identity being exposed before, but acted so boldly tonight, without any concern that everyone would report her tomorrow?

There had to be another hidden reason; it was surely the ghost causing trouble again.

Low moans occasionally echoed in the hall, soft cries of pain from those who could no longer bear it.

Considering how hard everyone had tried today, Ning Wei tacitly allowed Tang Tang to distribute the special medicine.

After receiving the medicine, they offered quiet thanks and nothing more.

After taking the medicine, they helped each other upstairs.

Lian Yun was now fearless. Even with Tang Tang and the others glaring at her, she remained completely unfazed.

"Don't you feel scared when you hurt people?" Yuan Yuan asked her, both curious and exasperated.

Lian Yun no longer intended to speak, as they couldn't do anything to her anyway.

Ning Wei asked everyone to go upstairs, wanting to speak with Lian Yun alone.

"I have nothing to say to you," Lian Yun refused to communicate directly. The memory of her conversation with Ning Wei last night was vivid, and she couldn't handle it.

She was afraid of being in the same space as Ning Wei, as if all her thoughts would be seen through.

Lian Yun wanted to leave, but Ning Wei gave her no chance, blocking her path. If she moved left, Ning Wei followed left; if she moved right, Ning Wei followed right.

Tang Tang and the others had already gone upstairs, occupying three rooms on the second floor, leaving the remaining seven for Tang Tang and her group to choose from.

Cornered by Ning Wei, Lian Yun stomped her foot in frustration. "What do you want!"

"Aren't you afraid we'll report you to Wu Qing tomorrow? Did that ghost tell you something again?"

"No!" Lian Yun was determined; no matter what Ning Wei asked, she would answer "no" without hesitation.

"Did that ghost tell you that if you turn everyone into ghosts, by the end, even the vanished ghosts can be resurrected?"

Lian Yun's eyes flickered slightly. Ning Wei noticed this subtle movement, and though Lian Yun still denied it, Ning Wei had found her answer.

"What a fool!" Knowing the answer, Ning Wei no longer wanted to speak with Lian Yun.

She didn't know what kind of potion the ghost had given her to make her believe anything it said.

To die and come back to life, to live and then die again, was impossible with common sense!

Yet, Lian Yun, the fool, believed it wholeheartedly!

Seeing Ning Wei's disappointed gaze, Lian Yun's heart sank, and she felt a bit dejected.

The dense forest outside the window was filled with pairs of red eyes. Lian Yun could only comfort herself, "I'm doing all this just to survive."

The next morning, everyone lived on the same floor, so as the clock struck, they began to emerge from their rooms.

They went downstairs one after another. Lian Yun had not gone upstairs and had spent the entire night in the hall.

Only after everyone was seated did she arrive late and take a seat in the farthest corner.

Seeing her expression, she had decided to face her fate calmly.

Wu Qing appeared, and those men became restless.

They had witnessed Lian Yun killing two of their companions last night, so today, they wanted to bring her to justice themselves!

"Steward, I want to report!" one man couldn't control his voice.

"Speak," Wu Qing said nonchalantly.

The man immediately pointed at Lian Yun. "I want to report Lian Yun, she is a ghost!"

"There is only one opportunity per day. Are you all certain? Are there any objections?" Wu Qing surveyed the room. This procedure was merely a formality.

Although she wasn't present last night, she was fully aware of everything that had happened in the castle.

Everyone shook their heads in unison, indicating no objections.

Wu Qing looked at Lian Yun and then snapped her fingers. Lian Yun vanished before everyone's eyes expressionlessly.

This was the third ghost to disappear. It seemed that except for Qin An, the other two had shown little reaction to their disappearance, as if it were someone else's death.

"Why didn't Lian Yun resist at all?" Bai Yang asked, perplexed.

Wu Qing said haughtily, "Under my management, is resistance useful?"

Ning Wei, however, replied, "Because the ghost who never showed herself told Lian Yun that as long as she turned everyone into ghosts, she would still have a chance to be resurrected in the end."

This time, Ning Wei shared the latest information.

As she spoke, she observed everyone's expressions, trying to discern their thoughts through micro-expressions.

Everyone expressed great surprise. The rule was utterly absurd, and they couldn't understand it.

"Is Lian Yun crazy? She actually believed that?" Yuan Yuan muttered to herself.

Bai Yang, on the other hand, looked at Wu Qing. "Steward, please tell me, is this rule real?"

The steward glanced at her and then said, "I am merely the steward. How would I know the ghosts' rules?"

"Ning Wei, is there any other information you can share? Given our performance last night, we should be considered allies, right?" One of the men looked at Ning Wei, hoping to build rapport and gain more clues.

The four of them had previously followed Sheng Kaiwei. Now that Sheng Kaiwei was dead, they were like scattered sand.

But last night, Lian Yun had killed two of their brothers, which instilled a sense of crisis in them.

Even if it was for their own sake, they had to shamelessly cling to Ning Wei's ship.
