Some people showed regret.
Only two days were left, and although they were getting closer to the truth, everyone was anxious.
Fu Chengwei muttered on the side, "No wonder the shrew next door cursed you as a vixen every time she saw you."
Ning Wei couldn't be bothered to respond.
Now, the only way to enter the dreamscape was by wearing the clothes. Due to the time crunch, the female passengers decided to try wearing the clothes during the day as well.
Ning Wei was even bolder. She put on the clothes and slept directly on the bed in the master bedroom, with a diamond ring by her pillow.
Fu Chengwei, being timid, cowered in a corner and gave a thumbs-up. "Sister, you're amazing. Song Zhi and I will be right outside. If anything happens, just yell, and we'll rush in to save you."
Ning Wei got out of bed, walked up to Fu Chengwei, and smiled faintly. Her smile was radiant, and Fu Chengwei was mesmerized.
Then, with a "snap," the master bedroom door closed, nearly pinching Fu Chengwei's fingers. He complained as he walked to the living room.
"I told you not to provoke her," Song Zhi said while drinking tea.
Fu Chengwei felt a little wronged. "Wasn't I just showing concern for a teammate? Who knew she wouldn't appreciate it."
Song Zhi placed a teacup in front of Fu Chengwei. "Do you think she needs your protection?"
Fu Chengwei recalled the scene he had witnessed in the bedroom earlier. That sister was truly formidable. The way she punched the reinforced glass, he estimated he wouldn't have that kind of strength even if he lived another hundred years.
"You're right!" Having figured it out, Fu Chengwei wholeheartedly agreed with Song Zhi.
Ning Wei closed the window and drew the curtains, creating a secluded and quiet environment. Then, wearing the ghost's clothes, she lay down on her bed.
Initially, she was not sleepy and tossed and turned.
Later, perhaps the desire to enter the dreamscape was too strong, and she slowly drifted into slumber.
Upon entering the dreamscape, before she could get a clear view, she heard a woman's voice soothing a child.
Ning Wei glanced over. The door to 1002 was already closed. The woman was squatting on the ground, her clothes disheveled, holding her child helplessly.
The child had cried for so long that he had fallen asleep from exhaustion.
The woman kissed the child on the forehead and then, with a stiff body, carried him back to 1001.
She placed the child on the bed and gently patted his back. The child still whimpered a couple of times in his sleep, but the woman was patient and finally coaxed him into a deep sleep.
After confirming the child would not wake up, she went to the bathroom, showered, and applied light makeup. In the mirror, she still looked beautiful and captivating.
She used her phone to remind her husband to come home quickly after work to watch the child. With great reluctance, she glanced at her child, tucked him in, and prepared the milk formula on the bedside table.
She locked the door, ensuring the child couldn't get out, then took a stool, leaped directly over the balcony railing, and, after confirming no one was passing below, she cast a fierce glance at 1002 before jumping without hesitation!
Ning Wei stood nearby, watching her jump, and heard the sound of her landing.
"So, this is what jumping to one's death sounds like," Ning Wei said softly.
Seeing this, the truth of the female ghost's death was revealed. She had indeed committed suicide, and in the most extreme way – by jumping.
After her death, the family in 1001 moved away, and then the apartment complex began to have hauntings. A security guard, who usually had a terrible attitude, was found dead in the guard room during his night shift.
Strangely, the occupants of 1002 remained unharmed.
They neither moved out nor were punished by the female ghost.
It turned out that even the security guards who had merely been unkind to her met a gruesome end. Why did this wicked family escape her revenge?
While Ning Wei was still pondering, an irresistible force enveloped her. When she opened her eyes again, the entire room was pitch black. The female ghost was sitting by the bay window, motionless.
"So, this is how I died," the female ghost's voice was very soft, with no hint of anger.
It seemed that through Ning Wei's perspective, she had recalled everything she had experienced.
Ning Wei remained silent, sitting quietly on the bed, about a meter and a half away from the female ghost.
The female ghost suddenly clutched her head, turned towards Ning Wei, and blackish-red blood began to flow from her seven orifices. The temperature in the room plummeted rapidly.
Before Ning Wei could react, the ghost flew out.
Ning Wei quickly followed. In the living room, Fu Chengwei sat on the sofa wrapped in a blanket, looking at Ning Wei with a bewildered expression.
Ning Wei opened the door and saw the female ghost repeatedly slamming against the door of 1002.
The all-powerful ghost was now being blocked by a door.
"What happened?" Fu Chengwei, who couldn't see anything, asked as he approached Ning Wei.
Ning Wei closed the door. "Nothing much. She just remembered how she died and went to the next apartment for revenge."
Fu Chengwei jumped in fright and quickly sat next to Ning Wei. "Then Song Zhi won't die, right? Should we go and save him?"
"She can't get in anyway, so you don't need to worry about it."
After saying this, Ning Wei returned to the master bedroom.
Fu Chengwei looked at her slender back and shook his head, trying to clear his mind.
This woman was not as fragile as she appeared. She was more ruthless than anyone else, and the longer he spent with her, the more he felt that she was somehow unsettling, with no trace of vitality about her.
Ning Wei sat by the bay window and waited. She knew the female ghost would return.
As expected, after discovering she couldn't enter 1002, the female ghost immediately returned to 1001 to find Ning Wei.
She knew that only Ning Wei could help her get revenge.
"If you find a way to let me in, I'll give you the bus tickets," the female ghost said directly.
This was a very worthwhile exchange. As long as she was allowed into 1002, she would handle the revenge herself. Ning Wei wouldn't have to spill a drop of blood and could safely lead everyone else away from here.
"Of course," Ning Wei replied with a smile.
A talisman had been posted on the security room because someone had died there. Therefore, the people in 1002 must also have something in their home that was blocking the female ghost's revenge.
As for what it was, she would have to wait until morning when Song Zhi arrived.
Thinking about revenge, Ning Wei was too excited to sleep.
The female ghost had already left, but she sat by the bay window all night.
When morning came, she was full of energy and was already waiting in the living room.
The passengers entered one by one. The female passengers all reported having found nothing.
"She committed suicide. The only way to get the bus ticket is to let her enter 1002. She wants to take revenge herself," Ning Wei announced to everyone.
She had done all she could. Now it was up to these people.
Song Zhi was the only one who could freely enter and exit 1002. Recalling his memory, he confirmed that there was indeed a peach wood Buddha statue hanging by the door of 1002, which was likely the reason the female ghost couldn't enter.
