Because the sound was very low, Zhu Yulian could only hear what Dr. Zhao said, but could still guess one or two things.
"Can we be sure the spot is for Yang Shuo?"
"That's good, I'll go out with him then."
"No, our relationship is fine. I just don't want to be apart for too long."
"No, don't listen to those people's nonsense. You know he's good-looking, and it's normal for patients and nurses to be attracted to him. But he has always stayed true to himself and never done anything to betray me."
"Dad, don't you trust me? Our offices face each other. I know how many times a day he goes to the restroom."
"Alright, alright, then I'll bring him home for dinner tonight. Are you satisfied now?"
Next came the sound of pants being pulled up. Yuanyuan quickly pulled Zhu Yulian out.
As it turned out, Dr. Zhao was too fast and had already opened the door.
Zhu Yulian had a sudden inspiration and immediately clutched her stomach, pretending to be in great pain. Yuanyuan supported her from the side, and they both pretended to be heading in the wrong direction.
As expected, Dr. Zhao only glanced at them and didn't suspect she was being followed at all.
To make the act convincing, Zhu Yulian went to the restroom. Yuanyuan waited outside, seemingly waiting for Lan Lingling, but actually watching to see if Dr. Zhao had left.
Dr. Zhao placed her bag on the sink, washed her hands, and then left with her bag.
Yuanyuan feigned a cough, and a flushing sound immediately came from the toilet, followed by Zhu Yulian emerging.
The two quickly followed, only to see Dr. Zhao returning the way she came and heading back to Yang Shuo's office.
Because Ning Wei had mentioned it beforehand, Yang Shuo's office had a view of the outside from within, so Zhu Yulian and Yuanyuan dared not approach.
Dr. Zhao was inside and out in less than five minutes. What they said was unknown, but seeing Dr. Zhao's somewhat triumphant expression, it seemed Yang Shuo had agreed to go home for dinner with her.
Dr. Zhao truly left the hospital later, so Zhu Yulian and Yuanyuan's mission had to be put on hold.
Back in the ward, Ning Wei was still sleeping.
Zhu Yulian forcibly pulled her up and quickly reported the situation: "Yang Shuo and Dr. Zhao are indeed a couple. At Dr. Zhao's father's request, they are going home for dinner together tonight." httpδ:/m.kuAisugg.nět
Upon hearing this, Ning Wei smiled. She thought she had finally found her opportunity.
Yang Shuo would be coming to check on the patients again soon. Ning Wei pondered for a moment, then went to the nurses' station to borrow paper and a pen, and then waited for Yang Shuo to take the bait.
Before leaving work, Yang Shuo made his rounds on time. Ning Wei, mimicking his method, placed a folded note into the pocket of his white coat.
When Yang Shuo noticed it, a smile immediately spread across his face, and he looked very pleased.
Zhu Yulian and Yuanyuan watched the entire process. After Yang Shuo left, they quickly gathered around: "What did you put in his pocket? Why is he so happy?"
"I poisoned him," Ning Wei told them.
She was obviously making it up. Knowing that she didn't want to say more, Zhu Yulian and Yuanyuan didn't press further.
"What do we do next?" Zhu Yulian asked.
Ning Wei patted Zhu Yulian's shoulder. "You've worked hard today. Leave the rest to me. You two just rest well in the ward."
Zhu Yulian nodded, and she and Yuanyuan squeezed onto one bed to watch television, which was their only form of entertainment in the hospital.
They became so engrossed in watching that they didn't even realize when Ning Wei left.
Ning Wei arrived at the rooftop and quickly found a cigarette butt on the ground and a bloodstain on the wall. She raised an eyebrow, her expression unreadable.
The rooftop offered a clear view of the parking lot below. This was the staff parking area. Yang Shuo drove to work every morning and left by car in the evening.
Whether Ning Wei's plan would succeed depended on whether Yang Shuo's car was in the parking lot.
Standing on tiptoe to look out, she saw a black SUV parked under a magnolia tree. It was Yang Shuo's car.
It seemed Yang Shuo hadn't left. A triumphant smile played on Ning Wei's lips.
Just then, a pair of hands suddenly reached from behind and forcefully pushed Ning Wei forward.
The railing was only up to her chest, so it was quite difficult to push someone over.
However, these hands were no ordinary hands. Ning Wei quickly turned her head and pointed a delicate finger at the person's brow before swiftly moving to a safe position.
"Qin Chang, you've finally appeared!" This was all within Ning Wei's control, orchestrated to draw Qin Chang out.
"You deliberately lured me out!" Qin Chang glared with bloodshot eyes, her hair flying in the air like a monstrous creature thrashing about.
"Who told you you were so stupid?" Ning Wei said as she wrapped a red thread around Qin Chang's body.
The red thread had been "borrowed" from another ward. Although it was just ordinary red thread, in Ning Wei's hands, it was something else entirely.
As the red thread touched Qin Chang, it seemed to come alive, coiling around her. The more Qin Chang struggled, the tighter the red thread became.
"What exactly do you want?" Qin Chang was forced to reveal her true form, her tear-filled eyes brimming with hatred.
"Give us the train tickets, and I'll let you go immediately," Ning Wei stated her intention.
"Heh," Qin Chang sneered, "You wish!"
"Then please enjoy the breeze here."
Ning Wei flung Qin Chang away. She flew like a kite, falling outside the railing. Her white dress fluttered in the wind, reminding Ning Wei of a "kiteshi-ningyo" (晴天娃娃 - a doll hung for good weather).
The other end of the red thread was tied to Ning Wei's wrist. As Qin Chang struggled, the red thread pressed tightly against Ning Wei's skin.
Ning Wei looked at Qin Chang and then glanced at the parking lot. Yang Shuo had not yet left.
"I'll show you a good show in a bit, don't blink," Ning Wei said playfully, then sat directly on a large stone supporting the railing.
Fortunately, it was already getting dusky, otherwise, someone might have discovered her dangerous perch and called the police and firefighters.
Ning Wei turned, her feet dangling outside. She was at the same height as Qin Chang, relishing this freedom.
She let the cold wind ruffle her hair, her body swaying gently, as if a kite soaring higher and higher with the wind.
Footsteps sounded from behind, breaking the quiet.
"Ning Wei?" the person asked uncertainly.
Ning Wei turned back with a smile, just in time to see Yang Shuo, who had changed back into civilian clothes.
"I thought Dr. Yang looked good in his white coat, but I didn't expect you to be even more captivating in a white shirt."
Yang Shuo was not in the mood for pleasantries with Ning Wei. Seeing her sitting outside the railing brought back memories he never wished to recall, and his face turned pale.
He soothed Ning Wei, "I came as soon as I saw the note you wrote for me, but I ran into a patient on the way and chatted for a bit. Please don't blame me for being late."
