Chapter 85 The Zoo Three

Ning Wei also leaned against the fence, curiously observing, then put on her work pass and found a staff member.

There were people specifically responsible for preparing food for the giant pandas, others for taking care of the two red pandas, two more assigned to guard the pregnant giant panda, and finally, one person to help the other four complete their tasks smoothly.

Ning Wei's arrival was precisely to assist the other four in their work.

Like a brick, she was moved wherever she was needed.

First, she helped prepare the giant pandas' meals, then cleaned the cages where the giant pandas slept at night, and also went to the back door to move the fruits the giant pandas needed to eat that day.

During the noon break, Ning Wei plopped down in the cafeteria, resting her feet on the adjacent seat.

"Are you very tired?" someone suddenly asked.

Ning Wei looked up and saw it was the zoo director.

"Does the director also come to the main cafeteria to eat and drink with the staff?"

The director was surprised by Ning Wei's question. "Isn't the food all the same? As long as the animals eat well."

Ning Wei stopped engaging with him. She had worked all morning and was now tired and hungry.

Mei Nan brought over two food trays by herself, handed one to Ning Wei, and then noticed the director standing awkwardly to the side.

"Director, you're eating here too?"

With both of them asking the same question, the director turned and left without any of his previous amiable demeanor.

"Why did he leave?" Mei Nan asked while eating heartily.

"Who knows about him," Ning Wei replied dismissively.

After lunch, they had to rush back to the park to work, relieving the others who were at the main cafeteria.

Ning Wei slowly made her way to the panda area. Many tourists had gone elsewhere to rest and eat, so there were no tourists at the moment.

The other staff members had also left, so this was Ning Wei's happy time.

She dared not provoke the giant pandas, so she turned her attention to the two red pandas beside them.

The red pandas were incredibly cute and very friendly towards humans. Ning Wei attracted the two little darlings with a piece of fruit and then doted on them to her heart's content.

By the time the other staff and tourists started returning, Ning Wei was already blankly staring at the fence.

Most of the morning's tasks could be completed, and the afternoon was mainly for maintaining order.

A female staff member named Xiao Qi walked over and patted Ning Wei's shoulder. "There's a lounge in the park. We take turns resting there. We'll notify others by earpiece if there's an emergency."

Ning Wei took the earpiece and put it on. "Then you all go rest first."

Xiao Qi nodded and turned towards the lounge.

There were quite a few tourists in the afternoon, mainly because the pregnant giant panda was a piece of good news everyone at the zoo had been anticipating for five years.

Many tourists visited daily to see the pregnant giant panda. To protect the panda, the number of visitors was restricted each day.

As a staff member, Ning Wei could check on it frequently.

The pregnant giant panda had a very good temper. No matter how many people watched or tapped on the glass, it did not get angry.

Instead, Ning Wei couldn't stand it and reprimanded the tourists, "If you keep tapping on this glass and cause the giant panda to give birth prematurely, you won't be able to bear the consequences!"

Hearing this, the tourists, though displeased, did not dare to retort and left the panda area dejectedly.

Ning Wei looked at the giant panda, which was leaning against the wall, and felt a sense of sadness.

Creatures like them were originally meant to roam freely in the mountains and streams, yet for their safety, they were confined to this small enclosure.

Whether it was a blessing or a curse, Ning Wei, as a human, could not make the decision for them.

By six in the evening, tourists began to leave one after another. No one ever called Ning Wei to the lounge through the earpiece.

Was this workplace bullying? Ning Wei had a suspicion.

A patrol car drove over, and Fu Chengwei leaned out. "Let's go, quitting time. What are you thinking about?"

"Aren't we going to eat?" Ning Wei asked in return.

"Of course, we're going. We'll take you with us," Fu Chengwei, a dedicated foodie, would never miss any meal.

Ning Wei didn't say goodbye to the other staff at the panda enclosure. She took off her earpiece, hung it on a tree branch, and then got into the car.

After dinner, Fu Chengwei was called away by the director, who said there were matters to arrange in the zone he was responsible for.

After Fu Chengwei left with the director, Song Zhi looked worried. "Will he be alright?"

"If you're worried, you can go with them," Ning Wei said to him with a smile.

Song Zhi didn't know what he had done to offend this young lady again, and he pouted, falling silent.

After everyone finished eating, they got into the patrol car. The deputy director suddenly came out and said to everyone, "It's normal to be in a hurry on your first day of work. However, please don't take the car to the park tomorrow. It's too ostentatious."

The deputy director's words were quite tactful, implying that they shouldn't be lazy and should walk.

Mei Nan quickly agreed and even took the opportunity to charge the patrol car's battery. "Absolutely not tomorrow."

Director Fu left with satisfaction.

Everyone entered the dormitory building. There was only an auntie there. After she gave them their keys and room numbers, they went to their respective dormitories, men on the left and women on the right.

There were two people to a room. Zhu Yulian and Yuanyuan had developed a deep bond in the hospital, so they had pleaded with the dorm supervisor to put them in the same room.

Ning Wei was in a room with another girl named Tang Tang.

Tang Tang was beautiful and her name was sweet, but her personality was very introverted. Especially living with the formidable Ning Wei, she sat on the edge of her bed, afraid to look up, appearing pitiable.

"Are you afraid of me?" Ning Wei sat on a stool, crossing her legs as she looked at Tang Tang.

Compared to Tang Tang's upright posture, Ning Wei looked like a hooligan.

Tang Tang dared not speak, only shaking her head silently.

Ning Wei found her uninteresting and took clean clothes from the closet to wash in the bathroom.

After she got into bed, Tang Tang tiptoed into the bathroom with her clothes.

The dormitory had everything, especially the alarm clock!

Ning Wei set the alarm clock, and at seven in the morning, it rang punctually. Before she could open her eyes, Tang Tang had already gotten out of bed.

After changing into her work clothes, Tang Tang saw Ning Wei still in bed and gently reminded her, "Ning Wei, the director said we need to be ready before the park opens. Don't be late."

Ning Wei sat up immediately, smiling, and reached out to touch Tang Tang. "Thank you, I know."

Tang Tang dared not resist and looked at her with a hint of grievance. "Then I'll go first."

"Mm." Ning Wei jumped out of bed and strode to the bathroom to wash up.

Tang Tang heard the sounds from the bathroom and resignedly climbed back onto the bed to fold Ning Wei's quilt for her, then slowly left the dormitory.
