Chapter 145 Asylum Nine

Everyone felt a chill down their spines. If Ning Wei were an opponent rather than an ally, with her meticulous mind, perhaps only Li Ye present would have been capable of matching her. They could only be grateful that Ning Wei stood with them. After administering the medication, there was little else to discuss. They would have free time today; they couldn't expect Ning Wei to be the one constantly running around every night. Before parting ways, Zhu Yilian pulled Tang Tang aside and asked, "Are you alright today?" Everyone else also wanted to ask this, as her sudden illness had frightened them all. Only Li Ye glanced at Ning Wei with a hint of amusement. "You all talk amongst yourselves. I'm going to walk around," Ning Wei said, and Li Ye followed her. Ning Wei's words implied that since the task was done, Tang Tang could now inform everyone. After Ning Wei and Li Ye left, Tang Tang began to explain what had happened during the day. The previous night, one of her personalities had acted out and injured someone, and Ning Wei had subdued her. When she returned to her room, her childlike personality suddenly appeared. Ning Wei recalled encountering a ghost on the sixth floor but had failed to catch it, so she planned to arrange for someone to stake out the sixth floor. However, she didn't demand that Tang Tang do it. She merely asked the "childlike" Tang Tang to relay her plan, and if Tang Tang was willing, she should pretend to be foolish or eccentric. The goal was simply to get herself confined to the sixth floor. Ning Wei hadn't held out much hope, as a child's ability to relay information might not be very good. Ning Wei hadn't expected the opportunity to arise so quickly. While basking in the sun downstairs, Tang Tang winked at her, and Ning Wei realized everything was proceeding according to plan. The rest, everyone knew. Tang Tang had deliberately feigned foolishness; otherwise, how could she have safely dodged her attacks when all the passengers around her were unharmed? Tang Tang stated that she was unaware of the subsequent poisoning, as Ning Wei's plan was simply to arrange for someone to go to the sixth floor. Everyone listened and fell into contemplation. It seemed her act of administering the drug was merely opportunistic, or perhaps as simple as doing it when she thought of it. Yet, such simple actions could have immense consequences. The consequences of a normal person taking psychiatric medication were obvious. Although everyone had accompanied Ning Wei in her actions, it didn't mean they condoned her administering the medication. It was solely because Ning Wei was powerful enough that she was the unquestioned leader of the group, and no one voiced any objections. "Alright, let's split up and act independently. Don't always wait for Ning Wei to find clues. After all, we're on the same bus now; we're a collective," Mei Nan said, interrupting their reverie as he guessed their thoughts from their expressions. The most important thing now was not internal conflict but finding a way to leave this place. This location was more challenging than any previous station because they had to take psychiatric medication every day. Who could guarantee they could always induce vomiting? Before they were assimilated by this mental institution, they had to find a way out! Mei Nan, being the oldest and a teacher by profession, was listened to by everyone. Ning Wei had mentioned that there were ghosts here, so they split into pairs to search for clues everywhere. Strength in numbers; they believed they would soon be able to leave this forsaken place. Meanwhile, Ning Wei and Li Ye arrived at the rooftop. Watching the nurse ghost repeatedly jumping off the building, Ning Wei suddenly said, "Help her leave this place." Forcing someone to relive the pain of their death daily was the greatest punishment for a jumper. "Since when did you become so kind?" Li Ye asked mockingly. The Ning Wei he saw was ruthless, even cruel. Regardless, of the five girls on this bus, she was the most exceptional, exceptionally intelligent and exceptionally ruthless. To escape, she could use everyone, just like Zhou Wei at the previous station. Furthermore, even though she knew the treasures were poisoned, she induced the villagers to share them. When leaving, she clearly saw Zhou Wei turn back, but she still didn't warn him. Although Li Ye was not a good person himself, he had never encountered someone as desperately driven as Ning Wei. If such a person were the master of a station, it was unlikely anyone could pass the trial. Ning Wei rolled her eyes at him, then formed a lotus gesture with her hands and chanted. Suddenly, her eyes glowed, and a beam of light pulled the nurse ghost, who was falling, towards it. Within the light's embrace, the nurse ghost slowly transformed back into a normal human appearance. She was beautiful, appearing to be in her early twenties, in the prime of her youth. Ning Wei uttered the final word and smiled at the nurse ghost, "I will send you away." As Ning Wei gestured, a translucent light enveloped the nurse ghost, and her expression shifted from a daze to clarity. As she was about to depart, she looked at Ning Wei with a sense of urgency and said, "The elevator… underground…" Ning Wei couldn't hear any further words. After the nurse ghost finished speaking, she completely vanished. "This was your objective, wasn't it? Before sending her away, she could regain all the memories of her life, and you could obtain the information you desired," Li Ye stated. "I sent her away, resolving her suffering, and in exchange, she provided me with useful information. I don't see any conflict between the two," Ning Wei said, her objective achieved. She shrugged and left the rooftop. Li Ye watched Ning Wei's retreating figure, letting the cool breeze play with his hair. From initial disdain to present admiration, Li Ye had to admit that while Ning Wei's actions were somewhat extreme, they suited his taste perfectly. As for her taking responsibility for her actions, she was far better than others who hid in the shadows and pointed fingers. After leaving the rooftop, Ning Wei quickly returned to her room and lay down. Sending away a bound ghost was not easy; it required a great deal of her energy. Lying on the bed, the moon seemed to have shifted its position, and a sliver of moonlight shone on the bed. Ning Wei reached out her hand, childishly wanting to catch the moonlight. Everyone was searching upstairs and downstairs but found no clues. Other psychiatric rooms might contain information, but they lacked the courage to face fellow patients who could go mad at any moment. Ning Wei didn't place much hope in this group, but she disliked people who enjoyed the fruits of her labor while hiding behind the scenes, so causing them some trouble at night was rather amusing. Because of the locked doors, Ning Wei had to get up specifically to lock them one by one, lest the nurses discover something amiss the next day. Finally, after finishing her tasks, Ning Wei, lying in bed, couldn't help but wonder who she was actually troubling by doing all this.
