Madam Jade

Chapter 158 The Mental Hospital Twenty-two

Seeing her open clothes, Ning Wei's mind went blank.

She slowly gained control of her body and then got out of bed to walk out.

Since no one was guarding her, she moved with ease.

Following the sound of voices, she arrived at the office door and squatted in the corner to listen to the conversation inside.

"This is the price for each organ. If two people want the same organ, the highest bidder gets it. I believe everyone here understands our rules before coming. If you don't accept them, you can leave immediately," the head nurse said to several organ buyers.

"Can't you find more people?" a buyer tried to bargain.

The head nurse was clearly used to this process. She said with a cold face, "The quantity is limited. I believe you understand the principle of first come, first served."

The buyers were somewhat unhappy. After all, they were consumers, but the seller showed them no respect, threatening to ask them to leave at any moment.

"You can go back and discuss it. The prices have been given to you. As long as you coordinate with the hospital, we can proceed tomorrow. However, payment must be made before delivery," the doctor added.

A long silence filled the room. Ning Wei guessed that the so-called price list must be astronomically high.

The head nurse did not forget to remind them, "Be sure to schedule the surgery time with the hospital. We can fully cooperate. If the surgery is delayed due to your own reasons, we have the right to sell the organ to the second choice."

"Aren't you being too unreasonable?"

The head nurse sneered, "Since you are here to buy organs, why bother with these pleasantries? It's just a transaction. It's all about mutual consent. I have already reminded you. The rest depends on whether you cooperate."

It seemed there was no useful information here. Ning Wei quietly returned to the operating room.

Soon, the buyers one by one came out and left the basement, led by the doctor and the head nurse.

Only Ning Wei remained here, along with a middle-aged man responsible for opening the elevator door at the entrance.

For Ning Wei, the good news was that she had finally reached the basement. The bad news was that her body's organs were all priced. If she didn't resist now, she wouldn't be able to leave this hospital intact.

After sending off the buyers, the doctor and the head nurse returned to the operating room.

Ning Wei pretended to be unconscious, so they didn't hide their conversation from her.

The two of them discussed by the operating room door, oblivious to anyone else, about how likely they were to succeed and how much money they could make this time.

"If possible, it's best to use all of one person's organs. If there are remaining wounds, it might cause trouble if others notice," the doctor said.

"I have already made arrangements. We've hosted two batches, and even cartilage from the bones and some skin have been reserved," the head nurse said coldly, as if selling meat, talking about Ning Wei's various organs.

"Thank you for your hard work," the doctor said, very satisfied with the head nurse's work ethic.

"Then I'll go upstairs to get busy. Will you be home for dinner tonight?" the head nurse suddenly asked.

The doctor shook his head, "I have a dinner engagement tonight. You don't need to wait for me."

The head nurse was clearly disappointed but said nothing, quickly getting into the elevator to go upstairs.

The doctor changed out of his white coat in the office and left the basement in a brand new suit.

As he left, he glanced at the operating room and, after a moment's thought, locked the door.

Although the head nurse had said that enough sleeping pills to last one day and one night had been added to the food, he was still uneasy. He simply locked the door, so he wouldn't have to worry about the patient escaping even if she woke up.

Ning Wei slowly jumped off the operating table and looked out from the operating room door.

The middle-aged man who had been guarding the elevator was dozing off, completely unaware of Ning Wei's small movements.

Ning Wei did not act rashly, merely standing at the operating room door and looking out.

She couldn't see anything without going out, so she dejectedly returned to the bed and lay down again.

There was nothing she could do now. She could only wait for the patrolling personnel to take the elevator upstairs so she would have a chance to escape with them.

Bored alone in the operating room, she started looking around.

The man guarding the elevator had not left the control room except to go to the restroom.

Ning Wei vaguely realized that he seemed to be unable to hear.

Once, she was playing with a scalpel and happened to pass by the operating room when this man was going to the restroom. She hadn't put it away properly, and the scalpel slipped, hitting other tools with a crisp sound.

The sound was not loud, but it was unusually clear in the extremely quiet basement.

Ning Wei's heart leaped into her throat at the time, but the middle-aged man didn't even glance over.

Ning Wei initially thought he was playing dumb and hid by the operating room door with the scalpel, ready to deal with him at any moment.

However, after the man entered the control room, he showed no intention of coming over.

Ning Wei blinked, a plan forming in her mind.

She lightly knocked on the operating room door. She herself was extremely nervous, but the person outside didn't react.

Ning Wei repeated this action several times before he patrolled, finally confirming that the man was deaf.

Finally, when the man went upstairs to patrol, Ning Wei immediately pried open the operating room lock.

This lock was even simpler than the one in the ward. It opened with a few gentle turns.

She walked through several rooms. There were a total of five operating rooms, a room for storing organs, and an office for discussions.

Ning Wei went directly to the organ storage room. Various internal organs were preserved in glass bottles, including hearts, kidneys, livers, and even eyeballs.

She suppressed her shock and carefully counted. There were over a hundred glass bottles, the meaning of which was self-evident.

She reached out and touched each glass bottle, as if they contained not organs, but living people.

When she opened her eyes again, the organs were gone, replaced by fragmented ghosts.

They were men and women of different ages.

The only similarity was that their stomachs were cut open, and their organs were missing.

This was their appearance at the moment of death. Even in death, they endured the pain of their final moments, much like the ghostly nurse who had jumped from the building, whom she had encountered on the rooftop.

Ning Wei felt their pain, and the air was filled with their agonizing cries before death. Countless images flooded her mind, forcing her to accept those unbearable scenes.

The cold operating room, cold hands, the gleaming surgical knife, pale skin, the cut skin layers, bloody organs being removed and placed in specially made boxes.

Ning Wei watched very intently. She wanted to remember these faces, these incomplete corpses.

By experiencing their pain, she could strengthen her abilities!
