Chapter 5 In Desperation

He wouldn't have made me realize it if he hadn't spoken. My hair was being lifted bit by bit.

I wasn't wrong. There was someone behind me, squatting on the offering table, blowing air at my head.

The moment my body tensed, a thought flashed through my mind: That's not right. He's already cornered me in the temple. Why is he still afraid to come in?

He's afraid of the package I have. The scent on that package must have a time limit. Once the scent is blown away, he'll be able to come in.

This temple is drafty on all sides. The person outside is trying to trick me into not moving, to let the wind blow away the scent from the cloth package.

I took out the white cloth package. "You're afraid of this, huh? I'll eat it right now. Let's see how you catch me."

Without even looking to see what was in the package, I tore it open and poured it into my mouth. As soon as the contents entered my mouth, I realized they were several bead-like things.

The things in the package seemed to be coated in oil. They all slid down my throat without me even having to swallow.

I threw the cloth package away and pointed at the wall, shouting, "Come in and catch me if you have the guts!"

The person outside paused for a few seconds and then laughed. "Kid, you've really got guts, eating anything and everything. Li Chunfeng caught ghosts his whole life, and his son becomes one himself. If he weren't dead, I'd really like to see if he'd split you open alive."

I didn't understand what the other person meant, but I understood one thing: He said my dad was dead.

I almost fainted, but the other person laughed repeatedly. "Kid, if you don't die, come back and find me! In this lifetime, either we'll kill your entire Li family, or you'll come and kill us!"

Before I could understand what was happening, I felt like my stomach was on fire, a piercing pain. My vision went black, and I fainted in the Earth God temple.

When I woke up, the blinding sunlight was already streaming into the Earth God temple through the cracks in the wall.

The first thing I saw was a middle-aged man sitting in the sunlight. The light from the cracks in the wall crossed over his shoulders like two knives. The man didn't seem to notice the glaring light. He sat cross-legged in the light and shadow, lost in thought, facing the light.

As soon as I moved, I heard him say, "I'm thinking about how to deal with you."

When the man turned his head, I could see his face clearly. Three scars ran diagonally across his face, almost ruining half of it. At first glance, it was impossible not to be afraid.

The man stared at me intently. "You're Li Po, Li Chunfeng's son. I'm Qu Mo, Li Chunfeng's shixiong (martial brother). I'm the person your dad told you to find."

My first reaction wasn't to greet him but to quietly take a few steps back – this person had arrived too conveniently.

Qu Mo didn't seem to notice my reaction and said to himself, "I'm thinking about whether I should kill you."

"Your constitution and destiny already possess the extreme Yin number. Now you're wearing dead man's clothes, and you ate the Ghost King Relic in a place where the three Yin meet, which is like giving your life to the underworld. You're a ghost while you're alive. I should kill you."

"However, your lifespan hasn't ended, and you still have a human body, so you're still a person. If I kill you, it can only be considered preventing trouble before it happens. If you weren't Li Chunfeng's son, I would kill you without hesitation. But you have to call me 'Uncle.' So, I'm in a dilemma."

I watched Qu Mo quietly, without saying a word.

Since I ate the Ghost King Relic yesterday and then woke up from my coma, I seemed to have changed a lot. At least, I wasn't so afraid of life and death anymore.

Qu Mo took out a large coin and threw it towards me. "Whether or not I kill you, let fate decide! You choose heads or tails, and you flip the coin yourself. Life and death are determined by fate."

I kicked the coin away. "You're my dad's shixiong (martial brother)?"

Qu Mo's arrival was too strange. His appearance was even more sudden than the person who chased me yesterday.

At least, my dad had warned me that something would come looking for me, but he didn't say that my uncle would come looking for me.

From childhood, my dad had never mentioned that I had an uncle.

If my dad didn't have any conflicts with him, why did he never interact with him, and even never mention him?

Taking a step back, even if there were no conflicts between my dad and my uncle, I've never even met him before. How could I believe someone who suddenly appeared and claimed to be my dad's shixiong (martial brother)?

Qu Mo glanced at me. "Come with me, or I'll take your life right now."

After Qu Mo finished speaking, he walked out of the Earth God temple without looking back.

If Qu Mo was the ghost who wanted to kill me last night, I wouldn't be able to escape. If he really was my uncle, there was no need for me to escape.

After hesitating for a moment, I followed Qu Mo towards the tunnel.

Qu Mo didn't speak again until he walked into the tunnel. "Do you dare to come into the tunnel with me?"

I hesitated slightly, but still followed him forward. Qu Mo said as he walked, "The tunnel is actually the boundary between Yin and Yang. Both people and ghosts can walk through it. Be careful when you walk, and don't bump into those friends who are avoiding the sunlight."

As Qu Mo spoke, I subconsciously glanced around me. Fortunately, there was nothing around me.

But Qu Mo said, "Look back!"

When I suddenly turned around, I saw a figure squatting at the entrance of the tunnel, holding onto the ground, sniffing the cigarette butts that the driver had thrown out of the car.
