Chapter 32 Unfathomable

"He couldn't be dead, could he? Brother Bai, wake up!" Lü Maowang shouted while kneeling beside him, completely sobered up.

Jia Wenjun was also anxious, but after the frights from Lü Maowang and Hu Sixiang, she was much calmer than them.

She put her head to Bai Maoshan's chest and listened carefully. "He's not dead. There's still a heartbeat, but it's a bit weak. His body temperature is too low. Let's get him into the cabin and warm him up."

Since Jia Wenjun had spoken, Lü Maowang immediately acted. He knelt on one knee, wrapped Bai Maoshan's arm around his neck, and put his other arm around his waist. With a heave, he lifted the one-meter-seventy-plus Bai Maoshan straight up.

It was fortunate that Lü Maowang constantly delivered water and carried water, allowing him to have the strength to do this. Otherwise, another person might not have been able to carry an adult man so easily.

As soon as Bai Maoshan was on Lü Maowang's back, the pressure on his chest and abdomen caused him to vomit.

Jia Wenjun watched as he spat out some white, fragmented objects mixed with stomach fluids, directly onto Lü Maowang's shoulder.

"Damn, how much did old Bai drink last night?" Lü Maowang didn't mind Bai Maoshan vomiting on his clothes, but he didn't expect the always-gentlemanly Bai Maoshan to get this drunk.

Jia Wenjun didn't reply, supporting Bai Maoshan from behind as the two of them carried him back to his room.

Before they even reached room number 6, they heard screams coming from room number 3.

"Open the door! Is anyone out there? Is there anyone?"

"Open the door for me! Something's wrong with the boat!" Anna pounded on the door with anxious urgency.

When she woke up, she immediately felt the ship was listing. She knew there must be something wrong and wanted to go out and check, but she didn't expect the door to be locked.

Hearing Lilli's and Anna's voices, Jia Wenjun told Lü Maowang to take Bai Maoshan to room number 6 first. She stayed behind and called out to the room, "Sister Anna, don't worry, I'll open the door for you right now."

When Lilli and Anna heard someone outside the door, they pounded on it even more frantically. "What's going on? Who locked the door from the outside?"

"Sister Anna, the door won't open." Jia Wenjun twisted the doorknob with all her strength. "Sister Anna, the ship hit a reef last night. Could it be that the doorframe is warped because the ship is listing, so we can't open the door?" Jia Wenjun couldn't think of any other reason why she couldn't open room number 3, no matter how hard she tried.

"The ship hit a reef?" Anna frowned. "How could this be?"

When she saw the ship listing, she had considered this possibility. But since the ship had radar and her sailing route avoided all kinds of reefs, and since she had dropped anchor when she stopped the ship, it couldn't have sailed itself into a reef, so she was still anticipating other possibilities.

Anna forced herself to calm down and said to Jia Wenjun outside the door, "The ship isn't listing enough for the door to not open! It must be locked from the outside! Go ask the others if anyone was drunk and playing a prank and tell them to get the key out here now!"

When Lilli heard that the ship had hit a reef and that the room door was locked from the outside, she immediately started wailing, "Who's so wicked? You heartless bastards, there's a limit to joking around. Get the key out here now. If anything happens to me, none of you will get away with it!"

Amidst Lilli's screaming, the ship made another muffled sound, and Jia Wenjun could feel that the angle of the deck beneath her feet seemed to have decreased slightly. But seawater was slowly seeping into the floor, indicating that the tide was coming in.

Jia Wenjun had observed the ship's position. The ship was currently stuck on a reef, and the hull was damaged and taking on water. She didn't know if the reef would still be above water when the tide came in. If the reef was far below the surface of the sea, then as the amount of water entering the ship increased, the risk of the ship sinking would also increase.

The two women inside the room were panicking, and Lilli started crying when she saw the seawater at her feet.

Anna was annoyed and yelled at her, "Shut up! All you know how to do is wail. What good is crying?"

Lilli's crying was cut off by Anna's words, stuck in her throat, unable to go down or come out, and she could only feel aggrieved with tears in her eyes.

In this urgent situation, Jia Wenjun felt it would take too long to search for people one by one, so she shouted loudly for Lü Maowang and Hu Sixiang to come and help.

Her voice was very loud, and soon dog barks could be heard from upstairs.

Nao Nao and Da Huang stood at the top of the stairs, looking strangely at Jia Wenjun as she rammed her thin body against the door of room number 3.

"Auntie Jia, what are you doing?"

"Auntie wants to open the door, but she can't find the key." Jia Wenjun said as she tried to pick the lock with a black clip from her hair.

"Key? I just saw Da Huang carrying a bunch of keys in the captain's room."

Jia Wenjun frowned and looked at the dog beside him. "Da Huang stole the keys again?"

Why did this dog like to steal keys so much?

"Yeah, I played with him for a while and threw the keys on the corner of the table on the second floor."

"Nao Nao, can you get them for me right away?"

Nao Nao nodded and ran to the captain's room, then ran back in a flash. "Auntie, this is the bunch."

Jia Wenjun looked at the child's ignorant expression, responded, and took the keys. She immediately saw a number 3 printed on one of them.

She quickly opened the door with the number 3 key.

As soon as the door was unlocked, Anna stepped out first, followed by the tearful Lilli.

"Who locked the door!" Lilli was furious.

But Anna didn't have time to worry about that. She needed to go to the control room on the second floor immediately to check the ship's condition.

Lilli refused to let it go, stopping Jia Wenjun, who was also about to leave. "Where did you get the key from?"

"I found it."

"Found it? Who would believe that?" Lilli's face was full of expressions that said, "If you don't tell me, you're hiding something."

"Believe it or not." Jia Wenjun shook off her hand. "The ship is about to sink. Instead of focusing on these small things, you should go tell the other owners to put on their life jackets and move all the fresh water resources to the deck."

Seeing Jia Wenjun's serious face, Lilli panicked. "Why, why do we need to go to the deck? Are we going to abandon ship? I can't swim!"

Jia Wenjun was truly stunned by her thought process. "Who said anything about abandoning ship?! The tide is coming in, and the ship is listing and damaged, so seawater will keep pouring in. Before the rescue team arrives, we need to gather all the supplies on the ship in a relatively safe place. Quickly go and tell everyone to gather everything they can use."

After Jia Wenjun finished speaking, she was about to leave. She also had to check each room to wake up the people on board who were still hungover.

Lilli also realized the seriousness of the situation and frantically knocked on each room, yelling as she knocked, "The ship is sinking! Put on your life jackets and gather on the deck!"

At this time, Anna rushed into the cockpit and was immediately dumbfounded when she saw it. All the instruments were showing malfunctions.

She was just a novice, and she had no way to deal with this situation at all. Now, facing the vast sea in front of her, Anna panicked. "How could this be? I clearly dropped anchor yesterday. How could the anchor have been raised?"
