Chapter 126 Something Happens (Part 3)
Hearing what Mother Jia said, Jia Wenjun and Wu Peng both paused in surprise.
"Mom, are you saying you saw a ghost in the water room?"
Mother Jia nodded nervously.
Jia Wenjun took a deep breath. "Did this 'ghost' spill hot water on you?"
Mother Jia shook her head, shuddering as she recalled, "No, I fell. My foot tripped over my water bottle, and the hot water scalded me."
Jia Wenjun studied her mother's expression. Since her mother had already woken up before she arrived, the hospital leaders and doctors must have asked her about it. Her mother's expression didn't seem like she was lying or hiding something, so she frowned and said, "Mom, did someone deliberately scare you?"
Wu Peng also said, "Aunt Jia, there are no ghosts in this world. If there are, they're man-made. What exactly did you see at the time?"
Mother Jia's lips trembled a few times. "I... I went to fill two water bottles. When I was filling the first one, I felt a gust of cold wind behind me. I turned around and saw a woman in a red dress entering to fill water as well. Just as I was filling the second bottle, she finished and walked towards me. I turned my head and saw her face covered in blood, staring straight at me, walking towards me step by step, like she was trying to take my soul."
Jia Wenjun and Wu Peng exchanged a look, both finding the matter somewhat unbelievable.
"Did she say anything?" Jia Wenjun asked.
Mother Jia thought carefully, then shook her head. "She didn't say anything."
"So, you saw this female ghost, then got so scared that you fell, and then got scalded by the hot water from your own thermos," Wu Peng said.
"Yes," Mother Jia nodded.
Jia Wenjun knew her mother's personality. She wouldn't lie and would say whatever she saw, so this matter was likely true. She didn't believe in ghosts. Her mother was the only one who went to the water room at that time, and this "ghost" just happened to scare her.
Thinking about how her father and mother had both had accidents in the past two days, her father was hit by a car at just after 5 PM. Was the driver already drinking and driving at that time?
And her mother's situation was even more bizarre. The ghost didn't scare anyone else, but only her mother. It's said that if you don't do anything wrong during the day, you won't be afraid of ghosts knocking on your door at night. Her mother wouldn't even dare to step on an ant, let alone do anything wrong. So why would a ghost come looking for her?
Things were clearly not that simple.
Mother Jia was badly burned and couldn't get out of bed to walk. Jia Wenjun had to hire a nurse for Mother Jia and then applied to be transferred to a ward here, so she could take care of her mother and they could look after each other.
The hospital agreed to her request after learning about the situation of Jia Wenjun's family of three.
Jia Wenjun saw that Mother Jia looked distracted and told her to get some sleep. She pushed her wheelchair and went out the door with Wu Peng.
"Lawyer Wu, what do you think about this matter?"
Wu Peng paused. "Are you asking if the hospital is responsible?"
Jia Wenjun shook her head. "The hospital's responsibility is secondary. I think this matter is not a coincidence. It might be related to the yacht incident."
Wu Peng looked at her. "How do you mean?"
Jia Wenjun said with a grim face, "I can't explain it, it's just a feeling. I had this same strange feeling when I was framed on the yacht. Now that I'm finally back on shore, the other party might see that I'm still okay, so they're starting to target my family. Besides this, I can't explain why my parents have been injured one after the other in the past two days."
Wu Peng also found the injuries of Jia Wenjun's parents suspicious. He didn't understand how this family could be so unlucky, with the couple being hit by a car and encountering such a thing and being hospitalized.
If it was really as Jia Wenjun said, that someone wanted to harm her and her family, then this matter would make sense.
Jia Wenjun gritted her teeth. "The other party probably knew that there were no surveillance cameras in the water room, so they pretended to be ghosts to scare my mother."
Although Wu Peng felt that this was just Jia Wenjun's speculation, it wasn't impossible.
"You said to Lawyer Liu yesterday that the murderer was on the boat at the time. Are you saying that the murderer has also disembarked and wants to continue to persecute you, and not only that, but also wants to harm your family?"
Jia Wenjun clenched her fists tightly. "I don't know why the murderer is targeting me, but I tolerated it on the boat. Now that the other party has crossed my bottom line, I don't want to sit still and wait for death anymore."
Wu Peng looked at her. "What do you mean?"
Jia Wenjun's eyes turned cold. "Lawyer Wu, are you starting to collect materials now? I think there are some things you should know, although they have nothing to do with the ship, they are things that happened to people on the ship before."
"Things that happened before?"
"After I became the community housekeeper, I often contacted the owners, so I knew more or less about them and the things that happened to their families. Maybe you can find some relevant clues from these things."
Jia Wenjun was not a gossipy person, but the property management office was an information dissemination center, so even if she didn't want to listen, she would know a lot of news. In addition, she knew a lot of Gong Dalong's deceptions and handled a lot of owner disputes. To be honest, there were very few truly clean people on this ship.
Her life had been forced to this point, and her parents were also suffering with her. She originally wanted the police to slowly find out who the murderer was, but it seemed that the murderer was determined to cling to her.
Since she couldn't avoid it, she could only fight back.
She didn't know who the murderer was, but at least she knew who had bullied her.
She remembered those who had helped her in her heart. Those who had bullied her, she would settle the score with them one by one, and no one could escape!
Wu Peng did need to understand the people on the boat. Although he was a member of Jia Wenjun's legal team, he did not completely believe Jia Wenjun's words, because what his grandfather said and what Jia Wenjun said were completely different.
But Liu was in charge of this case, whether Wu Peng himself believed it or not was not important, his task was to collect all the useful information and organize it and hand it over to Liu.
Wu Peng took out a tape recorder. "Then let's find a quiet place to talk."
