Chapter 531: Chapter 531: Stoke City Scored Another Goal, Charlie Adam Scored Twice!
It was a brilliant header.
With just a flick of effort, the ball soared toward Chelsea’s goal, guarded by Courtois.
His reaction speed was already fast enough—his fingertips even made slight contact with the ball.
But unfortunately, he couldn’t keep it out.
The ball slipped past Courtois’ outstretched fingers and into the net.
3-4.
Hard work pays off.
Stoke City had successfully reduced the deficit to just one goal through a well-executed corner kick.
At the same time, inside Stamford Bridge, the atmosphere shifted.
Chelsea fans in the stands were visibly tense.
They had realized the danger.
Chelsea’s manager, Antonio Conte, looked grim.
Regret started creeping in.
He began to question his decision to substitute Su Luo with 20 minutes left on the clock.
Clearly, it had been the wrong call.
With the score now at 3-4, the pressure was squarely on Chelsea’s players.
From the dugout, Conte continuously shouted at his team:
"Hold your ground! Stay calm!"
"We’re still in the lead!"
"Slow the game down as much as possible!"
"Don’t give Stoke City any chances!"
"We can still win this!"
Conte had no other options left.
All he could do now was try to steady his team through vocal encouragement.
But unfortunately, Stoke City had already found their rhythm.
Their head coach, Mark Hughes, was fired up.
He yelled frantically at his players on the bench:
"Victory is within reach, boys!"
"Ten more minutes! Keep pushing, and we’ll find a way to equalize!"
"We can even win this and take all three points!"
In the final ten minutes, Stoke City went all out.
The players could sense the opportunity.
Then, in the 85th minute, their best chance arrived.
A costly mistake in Chelsea’s midfield.
Perhaps it was the pressure of the scoreline—Chelsea’s players were clearly nervous.
And that nervousness affected their performance.
Victor Moses, surrounded by two Stoke City players, made a careless mistake.
He passed the ball directly to Stoke City’s midfielder, Darren Fletcher!
Fletcher wasted no time.
His first instinct was to send the ball out wide to Mame Diouf.
After all, Diouf had the pace and explosiveness to break through Chelsea’s defense.
As Diouf sprinted forward with the ball, another Stoke City player, Tom Edwards, arrived in support.
Edwards had a high football IQ.
His clever movement drew Chelsea defenders away from Diouf, giving him more space to operate.
It was a smart tactical decision.
Then, suddenly—
Diouf cut inside.
At the same time, Chelsea’s defense reacted.
Two of their top defenders, Azpilicueta and Gary Cahill, stepped forward to challenge him.
In this situation, Diouf’s best option was clear—
He had to pass the ball wide.
