Chapter 2 The Next Day

The next day.

When I woke up, Pei Shi Yu was still sound asleep. I dressed quietly and went to the living room.

I saw that Pei Xianglong was already up, and I immediately asked, "Dad, have you had breakfast yet?"

"Who's going to make it?"

"How about I hire a nanny to take care of you?"

Pei Xianglong was reminded by me and immediately replied, "I almost forgot about that. I could have hired one long ago, to take care of you guys too. Now we have to go outside for breakfast every day."

Remembering what Pei Shi Yu said last night, I told him directly, "We plan to live on Zhijiang Road. Are you going to move there with us, or what?"

"Whose idea was that?" Pei Xianglong was surprised.

"Pei Shi Yu said it last night."

"You're moving too?"

"Is it okay?" I asked him carefully.

"You've already decided, so what are you asking me for?"

"Pei Shi Yu said she likes living there, and I haven't been there before."

"Whatever you want." Pei Xianglong said casually, but his expression was obviously a little unhappy.

"Move there with us too."

"No, I'm fine living here."

After speaking, he immediately walked towards Pei Shi Yu's room. I quickly stepped forward and stopped him, saying, "Let her sleep a little longer. She's been working hard these past few days."

I saw Pei Xianglong stunned for a moment, and he gave up the idea in time. This action reminded me of him before. I remembered the time he beat me up. He was very decisive back then. "Are you going to the company today?" I asked casually.

"I'm going to the airport later. I'll leave the company to you these few days."

"For a few days?"

"I don't know yet."

"Should I take you to the airport?"

"The driver is already waiting downstairs." Pei Xianglong said tactfully.

I looked at the time, it was almost eight o'clock. If I didn't want to be late, I had to leave now. Pei Xianglong also saw that I was in a hurry...

"Go wash your face quickly. If you really want to move, give me a call so I can prepare myself mentally."

I suddenly felt that there was a sense of loss in his words. For us, living separately would be more comfortable, but for an old man, he might still prefer a lively atmosphere, especially a widowed old man.

"I heard Pei Shi Yu say that it's a villa over there. Move there with us too. It'll be more convenient to take care of you, and it'll be more lively living together."

"It's not up to you. If Pei Shi Yu liked living with me, why would she move back and forth?" Pei Xianglong replied seriously.

"She didn't say she didn't like living with you, she just likes it there." I explained for Pei Shi Yu.

He looked at Pei Shi Yu's door again and said, "I originally wanted to ask her in person what she meant."

"She said she wanted you to move there with her."

"She's my daughter. Don't I know her personality? She definitely said that, whether I move or not. Am I right?"

I laughed. He really knew his daughter best, even imitating Pei Shi Yu's tone perfectly. I didn't have time to dwell on this topic, so I immediately went into the bathroom to wash up.

I was a little late when I arrived at the company. After working here for a week, I was basically familiar with the front and back office. As soon as I stepped into the lobby, I heard someone at the front desk shout, "Good morning, President Lin."

This twenty-something-year-old girl has a sweet mouth and an even brighter smile. Since I introduced myself, she would greet me very enthusiastically every time she saw me.

"Morning," I replied casually.

I hadn't gotten into work mode yet, but I had adapted to the title of President Lin early on. Pei Xianglong gave me such a high position, and everyone in the company, from top to bottom, would be very diligent in greeting me.

As soon as I walked to the door of the office, I saw Liu Nan waiting at the door (everyone in the company calls him Milk). He immediately greeted me and asked, "Is the chairman not working today?"

I looked at Pei Xianglong's office. The door was tightly closed...

"Yeah, he's on a business trip out of town. What's up?"

"There's a project that needs his approval."

"Leave it with me first."

I took the document and looked at it carefully. This was a new construction project with budget targets on it.

After a while, I looked up and said to Liu Nan, "Go back first, I'll send it to you later."

"It's needed later today. The chairman was supposed to review and sign it." Liu Nan explained a little worriedly.

"Got it, I'll get back to you this afternoon."

"Okay, I'll leave this document to you then."

"I'll handle it, you go back."

After Liu Nan left, I sat down in the swivel chair and began to carefully review it from beginning to end. The project was quite large, and the various budgets were very clear. I thought that if Pei Xianglong was here, he would just sign it.

I thought about it in my heart. Although Pei Xianglong said that everything in the company was up to me, I wouldn't blindly sign it...

Pei Shi Yu called at this time. After answering, she said, "Why didn't you wake me up?"

"I wanted you to sleep a little longer, so I deliberately didn't wake you up."

"Did you go to the company?"

"Of course, you're not here, so I have to hold down the fort." I said confidently.

"I don't have a car." Pei Shi Yu's voice sounded a little hoarse, probably because she just woke up.

"Where's the car?"

"Parked at the company."

"Do you want me to pick you up?"

"Aren't you supposed to be holding down the fort?"

"Then you can take a taxi. I happen to have a document here that needs your review."

"The departments are different, handle your own affairs." Pei Shi Yu declined.

"The amount is very large, my hands will shake if I sign it." I joked with a smile.

"Then we'll talk about it when I get there."

"Okay, Liu Nan said it's needed today."

"I'm already up."

As soon as I hung up the phone, I saw Liu Nan walking in again, putting the documents directly on the table and saying, "Sign this, it's almost time to close the books for this month. I've submitted the various expenses of the engineering department."

I looked at it. They were various reimbursement invoices, such as plane tickets and meal expenses. The amount was not large, so I picked up the pen and signed it casually. Liu Nan suddenly laughed as he stood next to me. I looked up and asked, "What are you laughing at?"

"You look very grand when you sign. I like it."

I stuffed the things into his arms and said, "Haven't you seen someone sign for the first time?"

"I saw it today." He smiled and turned to leave.

He has taken care of me a lot this week, so I am very casual with him.
