Da Si Ma Kelly
Chapter 201 Rage
"She's in, right?" I asked her proactively.
I saw her looking at me with a strange gaze, and then she just hummed in acknowledgement.
I stared at her back. It was obvious that her attitude hadn't recovered from the conflict of a few years ago. I thought that Pei Shiyu had already let it go, but she was still stuck on that impression.
I gently pushed the door open and went in. Pei Shiyu was making coffee. Hearing the sound, she immediately looked towards me. I casually asked, "Did you have breakfast?"
"It's almost noon."
"Take a careful look at this. The engineering department will need it this afternoon." I placed the document on the desk.
Pei Shiyu, holding her coffee, sat down in her swivel chair. She didn't rush to look at it, but instead fixed her gaze on me and said, "Are you busy today?"
"Why?"
"Zhi Jiang Road needs to be cleaned up. While you're at it, find an auntie who can take care of the two of us."
"I can't get away. Your dad's not here, and there are a lot of things I need to handle," I immediately explained.
"I find it strange. You don't understand anything. What has my dad been having you do these past few days?"
"You're looking down on me," I said, pointing at her.
Pei Shiyu smiled after hearing this and said, "I remember when I first joined the company, it took me a long time to get into work mode. It seems you're better than me."
I sat down on the corner of the desk, took a sip of her coffee, and replied, "When I came on the first day, your dad told me that the company has been a bit lax recently. Your brother is gone, and your dad is away for a while, so he wanted me to keep an eye on them and act as a deterrent. As for work, I am actively learning, and I do understand a bit about engineering."
"Okay, then there's no problem with this document. The budget is already out, so it just needs to be looked over. You can sign it directly."
"You sign it."
"This is a matter for your department. Since you're sitting in this position, you have to take responsibility. Don't think that if something goes wrong, you can push the responsibility to me."
This was where Pei Shiyu's cleverness lay. She saw through my intentions at a glance. I didn't think it was a question of taking responsibility or not, but rather that such a large project was unsuitable for me to sign since I wasn't married to her yet. In other people's eyes, I was still an outsider.
"You sign it. That would be more persuasive."
"Haven't you held a meeting since you arrived?"
"I had one on the first day. Your dad already introduced me to all the departments."
"Then what's the problem? Engineering matters were originally decided by my brother."
"Can I do it?" I asked with some worry.
"Sign it. The budget department has already verified it. Be confident. My dad will definitely let you be responsible for things like this in the future." Pei Shiyu's words were quite encouraging.
After hearing that, I picked up a pen and signed my name in the lower corner of the last page, then let out a sigh of relief, as if I had completed a major task. Pei Shiyu picked up the signed document and looked at it, saying, "Your handwriting is better than mine. Did you practice?"
"Yes, I had someone design my signature specifically."
"It finally came in handy today."
"I already signed it once this morning."
When it came to work matters, I suddenly felt like an immature child in front of Pei Shiyu. It was like now, the more she looked at me with admiring eyes, the more I felt that this was an attitude to encourage me.
"Let's go out during the lunch break to take a look at the house over there. We haven't lived there in so long, and it'll be hard to find a nanny right away. Let's clean it up ourselves, and we can live there tonight."
"Okay, but I told your dad this morning that we were moving."
"What did he say?"
"He wasn't too happy." I didn't hide Pei Xianglong's attitude.
"He can move in with us."
"He thinks we're moving out on purpose and said to give him a call if we make a decision."
"Why is it so troublesome?" Pei Shiyu frowned.
"Understand the psychology of a widowed old man. It's right to take care of him. If you call him, he will definitely go."
"What's the reason for not going?"
"Don't be so serious. It's a matter of respect to give him a call now."
"He wasn't like this before."
"Now his focus can only be on you. Make the call."
Pei Shiyu picked up her phone, checked the time, and asked, "Has he gotten off the plane yet?"
"Give it a try."
"Why are you in such a hurry? It would be more appropriate to call this afternoon."
"Then I'll go over first."
"Okay, don't forget about lunch," Pei Shiyu instructed.
"Got it."
After I came out of Pei Shiyu's office, I took the document directly to Liu Nan's place. Before I even walked inside, I heard laughter. I immediately stopped in my tracks. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes today, I wouldn't have understood the meaning of Pei Xianglong's words "lax." This was an open-plan office, with about twenty people inside.
I stood at the door and listened carefully. Someone was telling a joke, and everyone inside was laughing unrestrainedly, as if they had forgotten that this was a workplace.
I took a breath, calmed myself down, and then raised my hand and knocked a few times on the door frame. The people inside didn't stop laughing because of my actions, so I walked directly to Liu Nan and slammed the document heavily on his desk...
Perhaps my movements were a bit too exaggerated. Everyone heard the sound and stopped. I swept a stern gaze over everyone present and even noticed that some of the seats were empty. A nameless fire suddenly rose in my heart...
I thought I was new, so for the first week, I had been very polite to them. But seeing this scene today, I felt that it would be my fault if I didn't rectify it.
I immediately said to Liu Nan, "The signature is done. Come to my office."
Perhaps the contrast between my current attitude and my previous one was too great. I saw Liu Nan looking at my expression carefully, and then he replied softly, "Okay, I'll send this document up first."
I didn't answer him and immediately got up and left...
Back in the office, I stood by the window and began to think about the problem. I felt that the system should be re-established. There was always a reason for the lax discipline. One reason was that Pei Shiyu's brother had left, and the second was that no one usually restrained them, or rather, the internal management had not fulfilled its duties.
Ten minutes later, Liu Nan didn't come in directly as he used to, but instead knocked lightly on the door, "Director Lin."
I didn't speak, nor did I tell him to come in, but instead looked him up and down, trying to calm myself down...
