Chapter 1446: Chapter 1446: The News Came Too Suddenly

“Don’t let Mr. Cheney know.” Lilac Serval added a few words indifferently.

“Why…” Jasmine Yale’s palms were sweaty, and her eyes looked unnatural. She gazed at Lilac Serval, trying to read something from her face, “What are you and Charles Mcintosh planning to do?”

“Rest assured, we’re capable of handling it. You and Mr. Cheney will just be leaving for a while. Once we’ve sorted everything out here, you can come back.”

“Then why don’t you discuss it with Mr. Cheney instead of coming to me?”

“If Mr. Cheney knew that Charles Mcintosh and I took this on ourselves, he would never agree, so Charles Mcintosh asked me to come to you.”

Shock was written all over Jasmine Yale’s face.

She knew Lilac Serval wouldn’t lie to her, but…

“Charles Mcintosh has arranged the plane tickets. What you need to do is simple; just administer the medicine to Mr. Cheney, then call me. We’ll take care of the rest…” Lilac Serval was very calm.

Jasmine Yale still couldn’t believe it.

But she sorted out Lilac Serval’s meaning; the burden and risks of the Cheney Family, Charles Mcintosh and Lilac Serval would bear them.

“Sylvan Cheney won’t agree to this!” Jasmine Yale raised her voice.

“Yes, that’s why I’ve come to you.” Lilac Serval flicked a strand of hair by her ear, “Jasmine, all you and Mr. Cheney need to do is to hide away for a little while. It won’t be long before you can return.”

“And what about you and Charles Mcintosh? What will happen to you guys?”

“Don’t worry, we won’t have any trouble.”

Jasmine Yale shook her head in disbelief: “You’re lying to me.”

“What?” Lilac Serval didn’t quite understand, “The medicine? If you suspect the medicine, just give Mr. Cheney two sleeping pills. It’ll have a similar effect.”

“No.” Jasmine Yale frowned.

Of course, she wouldn’t doubt the medicine.

“Sylvan Cheney wouldn’t just walk away from this. If there’s a risk, he wouldn’t let you or Charles Mcintosh take it on. He’s not that irresponsible.” Jasmine Yale argued.

“That’s why I came to you. Jasmine, I’m telling you clearly that if Mr. Cheney stays in Landon during this time, he’ll end up in prison, do you understand?”

“But if we go into hiding, does that mean he won’t have to go to prison?”

“Yes, Charles Mcintosh and I have a plan. Jasmine, think of Chale Cheney. Can you bear the thought of his father going to prison? For ten years.”

Jasmine Yale stopped short.

Her hand holding the pill was trembling.

What Joe Heath had told her wasn’t just scaremongering.

It was all true.

A chill of desolation slid through her eyes; she felt as if she had been doused with a bucket of ice water, so very cold.

She couldn’t bear the thought of him being imprisoned for ten years.

Didn’t she push him towards Joan Harry in the first place just so that he could extract himself smoothly?

“Is there really no other way?” Jasmine Yale looked at Lilac Serval with a sense of defeat.

“As long as Mr. Cheney temporarily leaves Landon, the issue will be resolved.”

“Really?”

“Mhm.” Lilac Serval nodded.

“What plan will you use?”

“I’m not too clear on the specifics, Charles Mcintosh knows.” Lilac Serval lied, and it was unclear if lying had become habitual for her, but she did so without blushing or seeming perturbed in the slightest.

Jasmine Yale trusted Lilac Serval, and she trusted Charles Mcintosh as well.

They were both very loyal to Sylvan Cheney.

If Lilac Serval said they had a plan, then there must be one.

“So I just need to take Mr. Cheney and leave?” Jasmine Yale asked softly.

“Yes, just go into hiding for a while, not for too long.” Lilac Serval said.

The news came too suddenly.

She had thought that Lilac Serval had come to chat with her today, but she hadn’t expected this…

“Can you give me some time to think?” Jasmine Yale rubbed her head, which was aching, and her eyes were misty. “The sooner the better,” Lilac Serval shook her head.
