Chapter 203: A slime’s life (6)

The kobolds were humanoid creatures, which meant that they could learn the language of the humans.

It was the same with the goblins, but the goblins were far more uncivilized compared to the kobolds who learned to use tools.

This one kobold, or rather the tribe that this kobold came from seemed to have learned the human language which was why I could understand what it was saying.

However, understanding and acting on these words were completely different matters.

It wasn’t as if I would just help this kobold because I could under its cry for help.

Rather, it didn’t seem like there was anything to gain from me helping this kobold other than getting involved in a bigger mess.

The world of monsters wasn’t that simple...

"Are the people of this kobold’s tribe as fluffy as it is?" I couldn’t help thinking to myself as I watched the kobold from above.

After a long silence, I finally changed forms and floated down.

"A human?" The kobold asked in a surprised voice when it saw me, but then it looked at me closer and said, "No, you’re not a human...You’re some kind of monster that can take human form?"

I didn’t deny this since the form that I currently took was a human with bat wings on my back.

One might even think that I was some kind of vampire with the way that I had bat wings.

After floating down, I asked, "Why were these goblins chasing you?"

When I asked this, it seemed like the kobold finally came back to its senses as it suddenly bowed its head towards me and said, "Please save my village and the people of my tribe."

It didn’t have any hesitation when it begged for my help and it slammed its head down into the ground as it begged, showing as much respect as it could show.

However...

"Why are the goblins attacking your village?"

The kobold was silent for a bit before it said, "Do the goblins have a reason to attack a small village like ours? They thought that we were weaker than them, so they wanted to destroy us and use us as their slaves."

I could tell that there was something off about the way that the kobold was saying this, almost as if it was hiding something.

But it wasn’t as if the goblins would actually cause any trouble for me even if there was something behind them.

After all, with all of the different skills that I had obtained from my feast, I was much stronger than some goblins. Anything that would be able to control goblins wouldn’t be my match either.

Something that would control the goblins wouldn’t be that much stronger than the goblins, or else they wouldn’t have chosen to use the goblins for their dirty deeds.

After thinking about it, I suddenly started to fly up once more.

The kobold could feel the wind from my wings flapping and it thought that I was leaving, so it looked up like it wanted to beg me once more. However, the words that had been coming out of the kobold’s mouth didn’t come out in the end when it saw what was happening.

I had transformed my legs into claws and grabbed the kobold by the shoulder before lifting it up into the air with me.

With the way that I was holding the kobold, it was almost as if I was holding a piece of prey.

But instead of wasting time chatting with it, I just said, "Which direction?"

The kobold was caught off guard by the fact that it was being lifted into the air that it didn’t seem to hear me at first, but then it came back to its senses and pointed in a certain direction before saying, "It’s that way."

I gave a nod before flying off in that direction.

While we were flying, I couldn’t help shaking my head with a faint smile when I saw the reaction that the kobold had.

Even though its village was most likely in danger, it couldn’t help looking around in awe.

It was clear that it had been amazed by the fact that it was able to fly through the sky right now.

I didn’t say anything to ruin this experience for it as I just focused on looking for the kobold’s village. It didn’t take me long since I was flying through the air, but that wasn’t the only reason.

There were flames that were burning in the forest under me.

Other than these flames, there were cries of pain that came from that place.

These were voices that were similar to the kobold’s voice.

As well, there were the voices of the goblins that were also there.

Judging by what was said, it seemed like they were laughing.

These goblins were having fun messing with the kobolds that they captured.

I was able to hear it first because my senses were much sharper than that of the kobold, but the kobold was able to hear it in the end once we got closer.

The kobold was a dog like humanoid, so it had senses that were sharper than a human’s.

Once it heard the cries of pain coming from the village and it saw the flames, it gritted its teeth as a look of rage filled its face. But at the same time, there was a helpless look in the eyes of this kobold as it knew that it wasn’t able to do anything.

So the only thing that the kobold could do was...

"Please save my village."

I didn’t say anything as I suddenly started to change forms.

The human upper body changed into the upper body of a bat, but the mouth wasn’t that of a bat. The mouth seemed like some kind of nozzle that was aimed at the goblins in the village.

"You don’t have to ask, I already agreed to do it. Just wait and see what happens."
