White Night had no reason to let such an opportunity pass. He flashed out immediately, leaping up and stepping on the axe handle. He then sprung onto the axe-wielder, pulling out his pistol and shoving it directly into the zombie's mouth.
Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang…
The axe-wielder's head was much tougher than that of a regular zombie. White Night kept pulling the trigger until all the bullets were gone. Only then did the axe-wielder's head explode, and his massive body toppled backward, crashing to the ground with a thud.
White Night wiped his gun with his clothes, then unloaded the magazine and loaded a new one. He walked over to the dying man, looked down at his wound, and saw that his intestines had fallen out.
White Night said, "Anything else you want to say?"
"Send me off…" the man gasped, "Give me a quick end, thank you."
White Night nodded, aimed his pistol at the man's head, and said, "Farewell, don't let the door hit you on the way out."
Bang!
White Night pulled the trigger, and a bloody hole appeared in the man's head. His body slowly slumped down.
White Night felt a touch of emotion, not because the man had died, but because when the axe-wielder had appeared, the man had actually told him to be careful.
This kind of thing…
It only happened when the World Battlefield had just opened. It made White Night feel a sense of nostalgia. After all, in the world ten years later, everyone's mind was filled with only one thing: killing others, snatching God Stone fragments, and then leaving this damned place alive.
Putting his gun back into its holster, White Night took out a bag of nutrient solution, opened it, and put it in his mouth. He continued his advance towards Zone C.
The appearance of the axe-wielder wasn't necessarily a bad thing. For the Umbrella Corporation, although the axe-wielder was a failed product, it had undergone mutation and was a work of great reference value.
In other words, before this base was destroyed by zombies due to a virus leak, the axe-wielder was likely housed with the Tyrant, or at least in the same area.
"So…" White Night murmured, "If the axe-wielder appeared in Zone C, could the area where the axe-wielder and the Tyrant were housed be near Zone C?"
White Night thought as he recalled the general structure of the underground base.
The outer areas were those closest to the entrance and exit, followed by Zone A. Zone A was actually a decoy; it didn't conduct virus research but operated as a normal biotechnology company, just in case the base was discovered and they could try to get away with it.
Zone B was for zombie sample experiments, which meant injecting the virus to create zombies and observe their reactions. Zone C was for virus sample experiments. Based on the original virus, Umbrella Corporation had actually developed many viruses, most of which were failures or semi-finished products. The T-virus was the most complete and the closest to a perfect foundational virus.
White Night thought as he looked at the directional signs, murmuring, "Going this way is the living quarters, the second passage is the entertainment area, turning right is the dining area…"
White Night tried his best to recall the structure of the Umbrella Corporation's underground base. More accurately, White Night was recalling the areas he hadn't visited in his previous life. Those areas might contain the places where the Tyrant was housed. Although the underground base was destroyed, the Tyrant would definitely not be able to be contained. However, the areas around the containment site would have a higher probability of finding the Tyrant.
Suddenly, White Night had an idea.
"Entertainment area?"
Since the staff of the underground base lived within the base and couldn't leave freely, places like the entertainment area were necessary.
After all, even a donkey on a production team needed to catch its breath. Working underground for extended periods without a place to release stress could lead to the researchers' emotions breaking down.
In his previous life, White Night hadn't visited the entertainment area. By normal logic, that place would have entertainment facilities and nothing to do with virus research. What could be found there?
But…
"As the saying goes, the most unlikely place is the most likely?"
White Night murmured, thinking that since he didn't know where to find the Tyrant anyway, he might as well try his luck.
White Night acted on his thoughts immediately, changing direction and heading towards the entertainment area.
Upon entering the entertainment area, White Night found that the place was indeed not simple.
Billiards, poker, arcade games, fitness, a private cinema, indoor golf – it had everything. Most incredibly, it was equipped with ecological environment projections. Despite being underground, there were windows around, and looking outside, one could see tall buildings.
White Night remotely controlled the projection, and the surrounding environment changed to a seaside, with beaches, palm trees, and bikini-clad women. Even the sound of the sea breeze was simulated.
White Night thought that the designer of this ecological environment projection clearly understood what men desired.
White Night walked forward as he thought, and then…
White Night suddenly stopped, his gaze falling to the side.
There was a crack in the sea!
The fake was always just fake. Everything around was a projection, and when the screen used for projection was damaged, the projected image would naturally show a crack.
The reason White Night felt something was wrong was…
There was wind!
Behind the screen should be a wall. Why was there wind?
Wind meant that there was space behind the screen, and air circulation would create wind.
White Night walked towards the crack and forcefully pulled the damaged screen to the side. He then poked his head inside, and his eyes lit up. Indeed, there was space behind the screen.
White Night stepped over the screen and slowly walked forward.
This space was somewhat dim. Upon reaching the end, there was an old iron ladder. When he stepped on it, it made a "creak, creak" sound. Walking down the iron ladder, White Night saw many neatly arranged glass jars.
The glass jars had iron bases underneath. Inside the glass jars was a green viscous liquid. Some glass jars were broken, and the liquid had spilled all over the floor. It was viscous and had a faint fishy smell.
Besides that, there were many corpses!
Licker corpses!
There were about ten Licker corpses. White Night went up to examine them and saw that the Lickers had many wounds from sharp weapons, with the fatal blow naturally being a penetration of the head.
It was obvious that these Lickers had been killed by someone!
"So, is this place where Umbrella Corporation manufactured Lickers?" White Night frowned. "It seems someone has already been here."
Boom!
As White Night was thinking, a loud noise suddenly came from the ground beneath his feet, and the ground began to tremble continuously.
…
