Chapter 302: Uninvited Guest

Chapter 302: Uninvited Guest

Bai Hanyun turned reflexively at the voice coming from her side. The moment she saw the young man with a hood covering half his face, her eyes flickered with recognition.

"I remember you. You are Gui Ying, right?" Bai Hanyun asked, a hint of uncertainty in her voice.

Removing his hood, Gui Ying smiled and replied, "I’m glad you remember me, Fairy Bai."

Seeing that the two of them knew each other, Feng Xiyan’s fingers relaxed slightly around the hilt of his black sword.

Narrowing his eyes, Feng Xiyan asked, "Young Master Gui, why are you here uninvited?"

Gui Ying calmly poured himself a cup of tea, took a sip, and set the cup down before answering, "Naturally, I came to meet Fairy Bai."

Hearing this, Bai Hanyun raised her brows slightly and said, "The last time we met, you told me we would see each other again in the future. Did you already know I would come here?"

Gui Ying was silent for a moment, then chuckled softly. "I know many things, Fairy Bai. Your visit is just one of countless things that I know."

At his words, Bai Hanyun frowned slightly. After a brief silence, she said, "Since you know so much, you should know that I am not a fairy from Heaven."

Tilting his head thoughtfully, Gui Ying replied, "You are not wrong, but neither are you entirely right. From your perspective, the place you come from is not Heaven. But to the people of this world, your world is indeed Heaven."

"There are countless worlds connected to one another, and your world happens to be a realm higher than this one."

A realization flashed in Bai Hanyun’s mind at his word. After a brief pause, she carefully asked, "You mean... there are parallel worlds in this universe?"

Gui Ying shook his head and patiently explained, "I don’t know what parallel worlds are, but I can tell you this—these worlds do not exist at the same time, yet they also do. The mysteries of space and time are far too profound for mere humans to comprehend."

Hearing this, Bai Hanyun felt as though she had stumbled upon a great secret, yet the more she learned, the more confused she became.

Noticing the frown on her face, Gui Ying’s gaze drifted toward the red marks on both her and Feng Xiyan’s wrists.

Seeing the mirror-shaped red marks, he added, "Since the Yin and Yang Mirrors have chosen you both as their new masters, the answers will reveal themselves in time."

Looking at Feng Xiyan, Gui Ying sighed, rubbing his stomach and asked, "But for now, Great General Feng, could you give me something to eat first? I’m starving after all these talks."

Hearing this, Feng Xiyan studied him for a moment before saying, "Someone, prepare some dishes and a bowl of rice for Young Master Gui."

"Yes, Young Master," a servant waiting outside responded.

As the servant left to notify the kitchen, Gui Ying spoke again, his tone lazy yet tinged with curiosity.

"Fairy Bai, it surprises me to see you again so soon. Did something happen to you? Something that forced the Yang Mirror to bring you here against your will?"

Bai Hanyun raised her brows slightly at his words. "Why do you ask that?"

Gui Ying pointed at her wrist with his folding fan and replied, "The Yang Mirror’s spiritual energy has been completely depleted. If not for the Yin Mirror sustaining it with its own spiritual energy, the Yang Mirror would have shattered by now."

"For the Yang Mirror to risk such a thing, despite its weakened state, it could only mean you were in grave danger at that time."

Pausing for a second, his voice grew solemn as he added, "Perhaps... it was a life-and-death situation."

Bai Hanyun couldn’t help but study him more closely when she listened to his words. After a while, she asked, "How do you know all this?"

Gui Ying shrugged and casually said, "The Yin-Yang Mirror is the Gui Clan’s ancestral immortal artifact. This young master is the patriarch of the Gui Clan, so those mirrors are rightfully mine."

"Although they chose you and Great General Feng as their masters, their bond with my Gui Clan and this young master still remains. It’s simple for this young master to sense their condition."

"If this young master wants it, this young master could even sever your connection to the Yang Mirror. But doing so would harm both you and the Yang Mirror. This young master has no interest in stealing someone else’s treasure."

Lowering her gaze, Bai Hanyun recalled her conversation with the antique mirror in the past. ’The antique mirror once told me that the man I saved from the underground prison was its descendant.’

’Now that Gui Ying claims the antique mirror is his clan’s ancestral immortal artifact, could that chained man be from the Gui Clan as well? But if that is the case, why did the antique mirror call him a descendant and not a clan member?’

Filled with questions, Bai Hanyun looked up and carefully asked, "Gui Ying, do you know someone from my world?"

At her question, Gui Ying’s eyes flickered for a split second.

This subtle change was caught by Feng Xiyan, who was listening to their conversation silently.

After a moment of silence, Gui Ying smiled and said, "Before this young master answers your question, Fairy Bai, could you answer something for me first?"

Bai Hanyun nodded. "Yes."

Gui Ying studied her for several seconds, then slowly said, "You clearly didn’t possess my Gui Clan’s blood, so the Yang Mirror shouldn’t be yours in the first place. Fairy Bai, where did you find the Yang Mirror?"

Hearing this, Bai Hanyun thought, ’He even knows I found the mirror. Since this is the case, there is no need to lie to him.’

With that in mind, she replied calmly, "I indeed have nothing to do with the Gui Clan or know anyone from your Gui Clan. I bought a small house in the countryside and found the antique mirror in the basement of my new house."

"Antique mirror? Why do you call the Yang Mirror an antique mirror?" Gui Ying asked curiously.
