Lu Heng said nothing more, waiting for the other person to speak first, as he had already stated his reason for coming twice.
However, whether the other believed him or not, the outside was indeed in chaos.
The man was remarkably patient, staring at Lu Heng in silence for several minutes before finally speaking his second sentence of the day, "What's the situation outside now?"
"It's a bit chaotic outside. There are many zombies on the road, like those in movies. As you can see, I was able to cut my way here with this blade," Lu Heng explained.
"Mhm, we've encountered the kind of zombies you mentioned too." He then spoke with a hint of grief.
Last night, it was his turn to be on duty in their department. This morning, after waking up, he was about to go wash up when he saw the chaos in the building.
Some people were shouting inside, and he personally witnessed a colleague gnawing on another.
He had initially intended to intervene, thinking the biting colleague had contracted rabies and was acting madly.
But as he walked towards them, passing another office, he discovered that colleagues were biting each other there as well.
He immediately became vigilant, realizing something was unusual. If it were rabies, two colleagues wouldn't be biting simultaneously.
Moreover, he hadn't heard of any colleagues being bitten by cats or dogs before.
At that moment, he called out to the colleagues on duty in nearby departments. Those colleagues appeared normal, and some even tried to separate the biting colleagues.
However, he quickly called them back before they could approach.
On this floor, he was the oldest and held a higher position among those on duty, so the unharmed colleagues chose to obey his orders immediately.
They gathered in an empty office. Two brave ones even peeked towards the direction of the biting.
Of course, he was also watching, as they had never witnessed such an event before.
Previously, the atmosphere in the entire building was very positive. No one had ever had conflicts with others, and everyone greeted each other enthusiastically.
They hadn't heard of any disputes among the people who were tearing at each other.
But after a few minutes of watching, something horrifying happened.
The person who had just been bitten shakily stood up a few minutes later and, along with the colleague who had stopped biting, turned to look in their direction.
Under the bright lights of the corridor, they clearly saw the appearances of the two.
Their eyes were now grayish-white, and their skin had taken on the grayish-white pallor of the dead, completely devoid of any color.
The colleague who had been bitten looked even more terrifying. Half of his face was gone, with fragments of flesh and blood hanging from his head. The bitten area revealed the stark white bone.
They dared not look further, quickly closing the room door, locking it, and crouching quietly inside.
The shouts from a distance gradually faded, replaced by the shuffling sounds in the corridor.
They had seen similar zombie movies; those programs were disgusting, and they never imagined such a thing could happen in reality, let alone so close to them.
When it became quieter outside, some of them bravely peered downstairs. They noticed several unusual figures moving about on the street below.
The swaying figures clearly did not move like normal humans.
They, the ones on duty, did not have guns. During non-working hours, all firearms were surrendered to the armory.
They had almost no weapons within reach.
After listening to their account, Lu Heng quietly walked to the window and looked down. Fortunately, this side did not face the main entrance of the police station, or his earlier feat of killing zombies might have been seen.
Lu Heng steadied himself and said to the few police officers in the room, "It's chaotic outside now, and it will likely be difficult for you to deal with those zombies if you go out. Do you have any usable weapons on you?"
The policeman who let him in shook his head, "No, as I said earlier, we surrendered all our weapons to the armory."
Then he looked at the long saber in Lu Heng's hand, "This is an extraordinary time. You can use this long saber for now. After this is over, you must surrender it to the police station promptly. This is considered a controlled weapon."
Lu Heng's mouth twitched, and he nodded without arguing.
Seeing Lu Heng nod, the policeman felt that this person was a reasonable civilian and then said, "Since you are the only one with a weapon here, I hope you can lead us to the armory downstairs later. We need to find some guns there."
Lu Heng's mouth twitched even more severely.
"Brother, if you go there now, you probably won't be able to see anything."
Lu Heng glanced at them and said, "I still need to go upstairs to check. If there are other survivors like you, I will bring them to meet you."
The policeman pondered for a few seconds, then looked at the other four people in the room before saying to Lu Heng, "We'll go with you. After all, we've received professional training. As long as we get weapons, dealing with those zombies shouldn't be a problem."
Lu Heng hesitated for a moment, then looked at them and nodded.
"Don't make any noise. Those zombies locate humans by scent and sound."
Seeing them nod, Lu Heng no longer hesitated and quickly walked towards the door.
Upon opening the room door, the policemen, with remarkable coordination, formed a defensive circle with their backs to each other, holding umbrellas, cups, and other items, and followed behind Lu Heng.
Lu Heng raised an eyebrow at this, realizing that trained individuals were indeed different from ordinary people.
Lu Heng did indeed find two more groups of survivors on the upper floors and also killed four or five zombies.
When the policemen saw Lu Heng's swift zombie-slaying skills, they couldn't help but be startled.
The person who had been talking to Lu Heng the most couldn't help but ask in a low voice, "Were you in the army before?"
He didn't seem like it, being so young with skin that was fair from not being exposed to much sun.
Although Lu Heng had worked out before, he was also someone who appreciated appearances. His workouts were mostly indoors. Except for participating in marathons, he rarely exercised outdoors.
"No, I just enjoy working out," Lu Heng explained simply.
The others fell silent. After searching the upper floors, they quickly headed downstairs.
Lu Heng wanted to stop them as they headed for the basement, thinking they would be astonished by the armory.
Indeed, following them to the basement, the policemen saw the wide-open steel doors and rushed inside.
Then, standing inside, they were so stunned they didn't know how to express themselves.
Had their police station been robbed?
There was nothing inside except the four walls; everything was gone!
Lu Heng lowered his head apologetically, but a slight smile played on his lips. After all, he hadn't expected these people to come looking for weapons here.
But if he produced them now, would he be immediately apprehended?
Forget it.
