At this moment, the captain, Lin Zichen, arrived upon hearing the commotion.
Disregarding the attempts of others to stop him, Lin Zichen walked over to the young boy named Xiao Xu. Though his face remained cold, a flicker of concern appeared in his eyes as he spoke, "Are you alright?"
The young boy's face was pale. He pursed his lips uncomfortably and shook his head with difficulty, remaining silent.
Lin Zichen's brow furrowed slightly. He reached out and touched the boy's forehead.
It was burning hot!
Lin Zichen turned his head and looked at everyone present, asking, "Does anyone have a thermometer?"
The air fell silent for two seconds before a girl, about twelve or thirteen years old, stepped forward. She said, "Brother, I have one here."
As she spoke, the girl took a thermometer from her backpack and handed it to Lin Zichen.
Lin Zichen took the thermometer and measured Xiao Xu's temperature.
Watching the numbers on the thermometer steadily rise, Lin Zichen's brow furrowed even more tightly.
Lin Zichen removed the thermometer and said, "He has a fever. Does anyone have any fever-reducing medicine?"
No one answered.
In this post-apocalyptic era, fever-reducing medicine was a precious commodity. Even if someone had it, they likely wouldn't be willing to share.
The air instantly became terrifyingly silent.
Just as Lin Zichen thought no one would step forward, a fair hand holding a medicine bottle reached out. Lin Zichen looked over and saw a woman in red, looking at him impatiently.
Lin Zichen froze for a moment, not reacting.
Seeing Lin Zichen standing there motionless, Ming Li became displeased and said, "Do you want this medicine or not?"
Lin Zichen snapped back to reality. He quickly took the medicine bottle from Ming Li's hand. When his fingertips brushed against Ming Li's fair ones, the tips of Lin Zichen's ears turned red. He said to Ming Li, "Thank you."
Ming Li looked at Lin Zichen's reddened earlobes and twitched her lips.
Tsk tsk tsk! Such a pure, simple second male lead~

After handing the medicine to Lin Zichen, Ming Li stood up and headed upstairs. While she wasn't a good person, she wasn't so bad as to watch someone die without helping.
Ming Li was stopped midway.
Lin Zichen stood up and looked at the dark, lumpy thing in his hand, asking, "What is this?"
Ming Li raised an eyebrow and replied, "Medicine."
Lin Zichen: ...He was very skeptical. What kind of medicine looks like this?
Ming Li, as if sensing Lin Zichen's thoughts, said, "Oh, that's traditional Chinese medicine. It's very effective, don't worry. Nothing too serious will happen."
Lin Zichen and the others: ...What do you mean, 'nothing too serious will happen'?! It feels a bit unreliable, doesn't it?
After speaking, Ming Li ignored the colorful expressions on everyone's faces and took her system upstairs to rest.
After Ming Li left, Lin Zichen thought it over and over. In the end, he had Xiao Xu take the dark, lumpy pill.
Half an hour later.
Xiao Xu's complexion returned to normal, and his fever subsided.
Lin Zichen found Ming Li.
Ming Li's beautiful eyes held a cold glint, and her voice was chilling as she said, "Lin! Do you know that disturbing someone's sleep is a very bad behavior!"
Lin Zichen felt a little awkward and stated his purpose, "I'm sorry, I just wanted to ask where you got that medicine?"
Ming Li ran her fingers through her hair somewhat irritably and replied, "I researched it myself, is that okay?"
Lin Zichen, enduring Ming Li's almost predatory gaze, continued, "Then can I..."
"Captain! There are zombies! So many zombies have appeared! We seem to be surrounded!"
Lin Zichen's words were interrupted by Hao Rong, who suddenly ran up. When he registered what Hao Rong had said, Lin Zichen furrowed his brow and quickly headed downstairs.
Smelling the sudden stench in the air and hearing the roars of zombies downstairs, Ming Li's face turned frighteningly cold.
Damn it! Can't a person get any decent sleep?!
