Chapter 201: Chapter 111: She Always Knows How to Infuriate Him

Rebecca Quentin didn’t say anything more.

Back at her rented house, Rebecca Quentin remained uneasy.

She knew Howard Geoffrey would come looking sooner or later, and she couldn’t leave even if she wanted to. She was trying to figure out a way to handle him, but she still didn’t know what he was truly planning.

Sure enough, he came again in the evening.

Christine Quinn had no choice but to let him in, so he went straight to her room.

Rebecca Quentin opened the door; she initially thought it was Christine Quinn. Seeing him, her body froze, completely unprepared.

"So, you plan to keep it from me, and raise the child alone?" he started with a question.

"Yes, I’ll do my best to give the child the best life."

At that moment, Howard Geoffrey noticed the room was filled with baby pictures, each baby in the photos was adorable.

The pictures touched him undeniably, as he looked away and refocused on Rebecca Quentin, "How can I be sure you aren’t keeping this child with ulterior motives?"

Rebecca Quentin swiftly raised her eyes, "Do you think I’m that kind of person?"

Howard Geoffrey sneered and retorted, "The Quentin family is never simple!"

Rebecca Quentin’s heart tightened, "If that’s what you think, I have nothing to say." From beginning to end, he had already labeled her. No matter how much she tried, she would never change his view.

"Aren’t you always eloquent? Why aren’t you speaking now?"

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to speak; she was afraid that in the next moment she would lose control of her emotions again, just like in the morning.

After a while, she finally said, "If you don’t trust me, we can sign an agreement. If I ever use the child to threaten or gain anything from you, you’ll have custody in the future."

"Did I ever say I allow you to have this child?" He disliked her calm tone, as if he was completely erased from her life.

Rebecca Quentin quietly gazed at Howard Geoffrey as if she’s seeing his ruthlessness clearly for the first time. "What if I insist on having the child?"

Howard Geoffrey responded coolly, "Do you want to keep being involved with me?"

For some reason, he felt an urgent need to hear her answer.

Infuriated by his words, Rebecca Quentin retorted, "Isn’t it Mr. Geoffrey who’s involving me now?" They’re already people of two different worlds; if he hadn’t come to find her, she wouldn’t have sought him out in her lifetime. Why wouldn’t he let go?

Howard Geoffrey snorted coldly, "You’re quite skilled at shifting blame to others. Was secretly having the child glorious?"

Rebecca Quentin countered, "Is it glorious when you despicably exploit my feelings and trample me?"

Howard Geoffrey was momentarily speechless from her retort.

After a silent few seconds, Rebecca Quentin slowly lowered her eyelids, fatigue emerging, "Let’s leave it at this. I don’t want to argue anymore. If you want to sign an agreement, then sign it. If not, then forget it. I won’t let you move the child half a step unless you force me to death."

"Do you think death can be the escape?"

Rebecca Quentin looked up at him, stating coldly, "Isn’t it enough, Howard Geoffrey!" Tears shimmered in Rebecca Quentin’s clear eyes, "The only two remaining in the Quentin family are in such a state. What else do you want? Why can’t you live happily? You already have a new girlfriend; you should start that beautiful future with her. Why bother with the past? Even Mr. Jones can attempt to let go, why can’t you?"

His deep eyes glistened with a shadow...

She genuinely wished these days could end!

Actually, she could understand his desire for revenge and even somewhat felt for him bearing such deep hatred for years. But since the previous generation’s grudges couldn’t be changed, why should this generation continue to bear the pain? Wouldn’t it be better to let go?

He was wealthy and powerful, had someone beautiful by his side. His future days could be as magnificent as he wished. Why interfere with her life?

If she could let go of such deep emotions, why couldn’t he let go of the vendetta?

Howard Geoffrey glared at her, his eyes very deep.

"You go your way and I go mine, isn’t that the best outcome?" Rebecca Quentin looked at Howard Geoffrey, voicing it without expression.

"You’ve changed." After a while, Howard Geoffrey finally stated.

At this moment, Howard Geoffrey looked at Rebecca Quentin with a complex expression, his brows showing a hint of contemplation.

Rebecca Quentin smiled faintly, "Really? How have I changed?" She had never changed, merely learned to smooth her edges and face everything calmly through the tumultuous past.

Her gentle demeanor attracted his curious black gaze.

Unfortunately, in her gaze, he could no longer see the depth he once saw...

Indeed, she’s changed, changed to no longer love him...

But, isn’t that the result he wanted?

Perhaps, for her, this was best, the best outcome...

Howard Geoffrey didn’t respond to her, instead flatly and indifferently uttered unrelated words, "You better not ask me for anything in the future!"

Rebecca Quentin’s heart was hurt by Howard Geoffrey’s words.

"Don’t worry, I will never ask you." Painfully raising her eyes to look at the once unforgettable handsome face, she smiled at him.

In that instant, Howard Geoffrey’s gaze flashed cold.

She held the doorknob, saying to him, "Sorry, I need to rest." She wanted to block him outside, fearing her grief might surface in front of him.

"Rebecca Quentin, I hope you can truly start your new life." Before she closed the door, he suddenly said to her.

She didn’t understand the meaning behind his words, couldn’t distinguish whether it was a blessing or a threat, leaving her frozen, feet unable to move.

He turned and left.

She shut the door, leaned against the door panel, biting her lip tightly to muffle the sound of sobs.

After Howard Geoffrey left, there was a knocking sound on the door behind Rebecca Quentin.

Knowing the visitor was Christine Quinn...

Rebecca Quentin hastily wiped the tears from her eyes, and ensuring she didn’t look too disheveled, she calmly opened the door.

Indeed, it was Christine Quinn!

Rebecca Quentin smiled, "Sister."

Noticing the redness around Rebecca Quentin’s eyes, Christine Quinn didn’t mention it, simply smiling, "He left without saying anything, right?"

Rebecca Quentin shook her head.

"Then it should be fine. With his temperament, if he truly wanted to harm you and the child, he would have already acted."
