On the way to kindergarten, Jiang Ziyu sent a text message to the principal and the housekeeper in advance.
Di Mingjue tilted his head and stared at her as she played on her phone.
The setting sun shone through the window, reflecting off the screen. Jiang Ziyu noticed the gaze from the side but wasn't worried about Di Mingjue seeing.
"Do you have something to ask me?" Jiang Ziyu asked proactively after sending the message.
Anyone could see Di Mingjue's expression. He was undoubtedly curious about what the old lady had said to her upstairs.
His thoughts having been guessed, Di Mingjue felt a loss of face. He cleared his throat and turned to look out the window.
How childish! Jiang Ziyu thought with a cold sneer, not offering any explanation. She wanted to see how long he could hold out.
The car quickly arrived at the kindergarten entrance. This was Di Mingjue's second time picking up Qianqian. He scanned the parents gathered at the entrance, struggling to find Qianqian amidst the crowd.
"You wait here, I'll go get Qianqian." Jiang Ziyu pushed him to a less crowded spot, then turned and squeezed into the throng.
She had specifically asked the principal to keep the three of them separated to prevent Di Mingjue from noticing the similarities between Qianqian and Xiao Ran and Yu Ze when he saw her.
Xiao Ran was at the end of the line. Seeing Jiang Ziyu, he excitedly waved his arms and called out "Mommy."
Jiang Ziyu couldn't go over easily. From a distance, she smiled and responded to his call. Compared to Xiao Ran, Yu Ze was much more mature and composed.
In the crowd, the housekeeper spotted Jiang Ziyu. She navigated through the flow of people to her side. "Miss Jiang, you're not staying back tonight?"
Jiang Ziyu paused, then looked back and recognized the speaker. "Yes, I'm returning to the Di residence today. I'll have to trouble you with Xiao Ran and Yu Ze for these few days."
"It's no trouble. Mr. Mu will also be coming over on the weekend," the housekeeper said.
No matter when it was, Mu Liangchen would come to take them out to play on the weekends, something even Jiang Ziyu couldn't manage.
Fearing Di Mingjue was waiting impatiently, Jiang Ziyu stopped chatting with the housekeeper. She emerged from the crowd with Qianqian.
Just as she had expected, Di Mingjue was already preparing to enter.
"Why did it take so long?" Di Mingjue questioned.
Jiang Ziyu moved to the rear of the wheelchair and hung Qianqian's backpack on the handle. "You saw it yourself, so many people, how could I have gotten her out quickly?"
Her words left him speechless.
Di Mingjue, feeling indignant, looked for something to pick a fight about. "I saw you chatting happily with someone else. I didn't see anyone blocking your way, preventing you from getting out."
"You saw?" Jiang Ziyu stopped the wheelchair.
From the moment she entered the crowd, Di Mingjue's eyes hadn't left her. He could see her every move clearly from outside.
Di Mingjue let out an arrogant snort. "My eyesight is very good now, I'm not blind."
The wheelchair moved forward, and Jiang Ziyu silently moved her lips in response.
Once inside the car, Di Mingjue was displeased by Jiang Ziyu's disregard for him. "Do you know that person from before?"
"From downstairs," Jiang Ziyu replied casually.
Di Mingjue perked up upon hearing this. "Do you meet often?"
"Occasionally, we chat a few words when we meet."
"She looks quite old. Is she picking up her grandchild's grandchild?"
Jiang Ziyu eyed him with a peculiar look.
Clearing his throat, Di Mingjue continued, "Have you found out who that person is? You're living outside with Qianqian, which is different from being at home. People's hearts are hard to fathom. What if she harbors ill intentions and something happens?"
"You're overthinking," Jiang Ziyu interrupted his speculations.
The housekeeper was someone who had been with Mu Liangchen for at least ten years. They knew her character very well.
Di Mingjue grabbed his seatbelt and questioned indignantly, "You trust her this much?"
