Chapter 748: Chapter 448: Why Does She Feel That This Uncle Is Even More Powerful Than Nezha?
Thinking about Isla, Ivy Miller shook her head, "Nothing, just feeling a bit down."
"Feeling down and you turn off your phone?"
"Why not?" Ivy raised an eyebrow, "That’s what girls do these days; feeling down means shutting off."
"I think that’s a problem with girls these days. You don’t learn the good things, only the useless ones."
Ivy wasn’t pleased, "I didn’t expect you’d come looking for me. How was I supposed to know you’d return?"
"You never call me first. Last night was the first time you did, and after you abruptly hung up, I couldn’t reach you again.
If you were me, wouldn’t you be worried?
And you even mind me coming back. Should I have just left you here to fend for yourself?
What if something happened to you?"
"Even if something did happen to me, do you think you could make it back in time to help from so far away?
To collect my body? No need, okay? My parents are right in Anchester; they can do that for me."
Henry Sullivan slammed his chopsticks down on the table, glaring at her furiously.
Ivy felt a bit guilty, "Why are you glaring at me? Did I say something wrong?
That’s just how it is. You’re stationed in such a remote place.
To see you, I have to take a whole night’s bus.
Similarly, if something happened to me, you’d have to take the same amount of time to get back.
In those dozen hours, I could have had a baby, or died a hundred times over."
Henry looked at her, and in his heart, he knew she made a lot of sense.
But even if it was reasonable, she shouldn’t be saying such pessimistic things.
He stood up and went into one of the bedrooms, closing the door behind him.
Ivy, sitting at the dining table, was dumbfounded.
What does that mean? He’s unhappy and went to hide in the room?
Ivy scoffed and put down her chopsticks, thinking their reunion was totally messed up.
It was really annoying.
She hated going to bed upset the most.
Since Henry entered the room, he hadn’t come out.
Ivy thought he might be sulking, so at ten, she softly went to the bedroom, pushed the door open, and took a peek.
Turns out... the old man was asleep and snoring peacefully.
If she hadn’t had a good attitude, Ivy thought the Primordial Fire would have reduced that man to ashes already.
She slammed the door shut, grabbed a quilt, and headed to the living room. Fine, she’d sleep on the sofa.
The next day, sunlight shone on Ivy’s eyes, making her squint and wake up.
Finding herself asleep in the living room, she remembered what happened yesterday.
She sat up and rubbed her eyes, hearing sounds from pots and pans clattering in the kitchen.
The morning was a bit chilly, so she wrapped a towel around herself and walked to the kitchen door, pushing it open.
Henry was wearing an apron, cooking noodles. Seeing her, he glanced over, "Wash your face and get ready to eat."
Ivy pouted, wondering what game he was playing now, acting as if they hadn’t argued last night.
Could this guy really be more than he seems?
He made her feel like a lunatic while he acted like nothing happened.
How did she feel this guy was even more impressive than Nezha?
Nezha caused a scene and got punished by his father, but this guy seemed to defy the heavens.
"Why are you standing there? Go wash your face. After breakfast, I’ll take you back home."
"Home? Which home?"
"My home. My dad asked us to come back for lunch."
Thinking of her mother-in-law, Ivy instantly felt a headache coming on.
