Chapter 109: Task Notice
Qin Wu exited the space three days later.
Looking at her, Mo Chenxuan nodded in satisfaction.
"Congratulations." He said.
"Thank you." Qin Wu said and stood on tiptoes to kiss Mo Chenxuan.
"How did your water ability evolve?"
"The third level water is corrosive." Qin Wu revealed.
Her first level water was ordinary and drinkable.
In contrast, the second level water was poisonous while the third was corrosive.
Based on her preliminary test, the corrosive effect was enough to instantly corrode a level two ordinary zombie.
"Good." Mo Chenxuan praised.
"My space ability has also advanced. However, the advancement only enhanced my space blades and the teleportation distance."
"It’s enough."
"I also think so." Qin Wu nodded and quickly continued.
"What happened while I was in seclusion?"
"Nothing much. Everyone is doing what they are supposed to."
While waiting for the refinery mission, the members of Team Legends settled into their new roles.
In one month, Xiao Junxie recruited seven hundred soldiers and settled them in zone D.
After doing that, he and the recruits left the base and temporarily settled in a nearby village.
The village was small.
However, it had adequate space for training and living.
During the month, the soldiers trained in the morning and killed zombies in the afternoon.
As a result, not only had their individual strength increased but their teamwork improved.
Although the small army was nothing compared to a pre-apocalypse army, it was an encouraging start and Xiao Junxie couldn’t help but be excited.
Other than Xiao Junxie, Lu Hao and Lu Yanyan also accomplished their preliminary objectives.
Like the main army, the children’s team studied for half the morning and trained for the remaining half of the morning and another half in the afternoon before scattering within the base to complete missions.
However, for the time being, the missions only included walking around the base to gather information.
As for Xu Fei, he learned to efficiently and effectively distribute resources to all branches of the team while Lin Rongrong established a small clinic.
Unfortunately, the clinic only had two ordinary doctors because healers were rare and most didn’t dare to expose their identity.
Compared to their team, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu were relatively idle.
However, they didn’t waste the month.
Besides practising, they prepared everything the main and affiliated teams would need for the refinery mission.
This included food, water, and gas among others.
However, the two didn’t plan to distribute these things for free.
Instead, they planned to sell set meals for a standard price during the mission.
In this way, they would earn crystal cores and their team members would have good food while travelling.
On this day in early December, Lu Hao and Lu Yanyan came to the main villa.
"Boss Mo, Boss Qin." They greeted.
"Lu Hao, Yanyan, why did you come?" Qin Wu asked, looking at the two.
"The child stationed at the task hall has brought back news. The task has been issued." Lu Hao reported in an excited voice.
Hearing this, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu immediately stood up.
"Let’s go." Mo Chenxuan said.
Soon after, the four left the villa area and arrived at the task hall.
As usual, the task hall was crowded but today, everyone seemed unusually excited.
"Why is the task only open to tier A teams?" Someone asked in a dissatisfied voice.
"Your team is only tier D. Are you dreaming of joining such a mission?" Another mocked.
"What’s wrong with dreaming?"
"My team is almost out of gas. I wonder if the new gas will be sold to ordinary survivors."
"Probably not."
"There are too many places where gas is needed. It’s highly unlikely that the base leaders will sell the new stock to ordinary people."
"Won’t the army be able to collect more gas if they allowed more teams to participate in the mission?"
"You are thinking too simply."
"What do you mean?"
"Although YS Petrochemicals refinery is relatively close to city B, its location is not ideal. The army and teams will have to cross several zombie strongholds before they reach the refinery. What do you think would happen if weak teams were allowed to join the mission?"
"They would be wiped out and they may even affect the army."
"Exactly. This time, the mission needs teams that can take care of themselves instead of dragging the army down."
"There are currently fewer than twenty Tier A teams. I wonder how many will take the task."
"All those in the base will definitely take the task."
"How can you be so sure?"
"Haven’t you seen all the abandoned cars inside and outside the base? Almost everyone is out of gas. The big teams are no exception."
"Now that you mention it..., none of the tier A teams can afford to miss this opportunity."
While listening to gossip, Mo Chenxuan, Qin Wu, Lu Hao, and Lu Yanyan arrived at the task board.
As gossip mentioned, the task was exclusive to tier A and above teams.
Other than this restriction, the task had two other conditions.
The first condition was that the team leader had to be a level two and above superpower. Additionally, a team of ten had to have one level two ability user, a team of twenty needed two, of thirty needed three and so forth.
Second, every team must bring back at least fifty thousand litres of fuel from the refinery. Failure to do so would incur a heavy penalty whose value was at least ten times the value of fifty thousand litres of fuel.
Seeing the conditions, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu nodded but they weren’t worried since they had space and everyone in team Legends was already a level two superpower.
After checking the conditions, they checked the rewards.
As expected, the rewards were generous.
First, every ten thousand litres of fuel would generate a reward of one thousand litres. In this way, the more fuel they brought back, the higher the reward.
Also, after delivering the fuel, the teams would receive new weapons based on the amount of fuel they brought back.
Finally, the teams would receive task points based on their contribution to the completion of the mission.
’The YS Petrochemicals refinery has a capacity of more than sixty billion litres of fuel. Wu’er and I should take this opportunity to stock up and also contribute to the base.’ Mo Chenxuan thought.
