Chapter 523: Chapter 523: Asura Jonah (Part 1)
"Claire North, that’s enough. I was a baby just like you back then, we were swapped by mistake, you’re innocent, and so am I. I owe you nothing. I stayed with The North Family because of grandpa, as for the family fortune, I don’t care for it." With the North Family’s negligible wealth, even the least successful company under her control was stronger, she truly didn’t care.
But Claire North didn’t think so, only believing Raina North was pretending to be aloof.
"Innocent? What right do you have to say you’re innocent! It wasn’t a swap; it was a scheme. Your unfaithful mother couldn’t bear being abandoned, so she secretly swapped us. It was you and your mother who stole the life that belonged to me, Raina. You owe me, you’ll owe me for a lifetime."
Seeing Raina frowning, Claire suddenly realized something.
"I almost forgot you still don’t know, the woman you personally sent to prison years ago is your mother. She’s also my dad’s mistress, when she was pregnant with you, my dad abandoned her, and in a fit of rage, she swapped us. Everyone in The North Family knew it, including your beloved grandpa. Otherwise, why do you think he left the good estate alone for The North Family, leaving all to you? Because you’re The North Family’s illegitimate child."
Raina clenched her fists, as if suddenly many things started making sense.
Brenda Adler and Claire North’s hatred, grandpa’s always hesitant gaze, could it be... could this really be the truth?
No, that’s not right.
She once did a paternity test between herself and Gideon North, and they were not biologically related.
Raina felt confused; things seemed to be getting more complex.
But more than the mystery of her origins, Raina was more concerned about another matter.
"The ship is about to leave soon, and we may never see each other again, Claire North, you have to tell me the whereabouts of my son." Right now, taking advantage of Claire’s arrogant attitude is undoubtedly the best chance.
"He’s dead," Claire said venomously.
"You’re lying," Raina was furious, "my son can’t be dead."
Claire had originally said it in a fit of rage, but seeing the usually calm Raina angry, she didn’t change her words.
"He’s dead. I killed him by smashing him the moment he was born."
"Shut up, shut up, it’s impossible, Bobby couldn’t be dead." Raina struggled to move forward to cover her mouth, but her poisoned body had no strength at all.
"Raina, you wouldn’t naïvely think I’d raise your illegitimate child, would you? You should’ve investigated. Has there ever been a child around me over these years that’s the same age as your short-lived son? Raina, what value do you have now that would make me lie to you?"
Raina remained silent, she’d investigated from the start.
In all of Claire North’s actions over the years, there had never been a child.
Could Bobby really be dead?
"Where’s the body?" In life or death, she needed to see. Until the last moment, Raina wouldn’t believe it.
"Oh, I heard there’s someone in Solara who likes keeping little ghosts, so I sent him over. Initially, I heard making a specimen in formaldehyde was good too, but it looked ominous, so I gave up."
"Claire North!" Raina had never hated anyone so much before.
How dare she!
How dare she!!!
Claire finally succeeded in tearing away Raina’s usual calm demeanor, feeling exceptionally pleased.
"As much as I’d love to keep watching your pitiful state, what can I do? It’s time to say goodbye."
Claire laughed heartily, pushed open the cabin door, and walked out, looking every bit the triumphant victor.
Only when she reached the bow of the ship did she realize it had already left the shore.
