Chapter 224: Chapter 224: Are You Questioning Me? (Part 2)
"No, I don’t want to be kicked out of The Veridian Institute of Medicine. Cousin, cousin, I’m begging you, please say something good for me." Chloe Jarvis clutched Aaron Warren’s sleeve, pleading tearfully, "Help me."
Aaron Warren looked at Chloe Jarvis’s tear-streaked face, his brow furrowing with some disdain. Chloe Jarvis was his cousin, but only a distant relative, yet still family. He was about to speak on her behalf when he met Second Uncle Warren’s harsh glare.
Aaron Warren said with a stern face, "Enough, stop causing a scene. Today’s problems were all brought about by your baseless issues with Apothecary North! You did wrong and refused to repent, deceiving me and dragging me into conflict with Apothecary North. You’re too much!"
Chloe Jarvis opened her eyes wide, looking at Aaron Warren in disbelief, "Cousin... Cousin... clearly it was you..."
"Shut up!"
Aaron Warren rebuked sharply.
Chloe Jarvis flinched, staring blankly at Aaron Warren. If it weren’t for his repeated mentions of helping her relive her worries, she would never have clashed with Raina North. She had no enmity with Raina North.
Ignoring Chloe Jarvis, Aaron Warren turned to Elias Hawthorne, smiling apologetically, "President Hawthorne is right. The Veridian Institute of Medicine indeed needs calm. Rest assured, I will assist Director Woods in clearing the institute. Today’s events will not happen again."
Elias Hawthorne didn’t speak, merely turning his head to look at Raina North.
His intention was clear.
Aaron Warren felt a strong resentment. He’d rather kneel to Elias Hawthorne than yield to Raina North, but it wasn’t his decision to make.
He had to swallow his anger and turn to Raina North, saying politely, "Apothecary North, I sincerely apologize. I didn’t know it was Chloe Jarvis’s fault earlier, now she has been kicked out of the institute. Please be generous and spare me."
Raina North looked at the bowing Aaron Warren, then at Chloe Jarvis, who appeared as if struck by lightning, along with the pained other people and the untouched Claire North, who seemed like a pure white flower. She felt utterly bored.
Ignoring Aaron Warren, she turned to Chloe Jarvis, "I told your cousin earlier, and I’ll tell you now. I hope you recognize that we’ve never had any grievances, past or present. Think carefully about why things ended up this way."
Chloe Jarvis was stunned, unsure if she heard.
Raina North paid no attention to her, let alone spare a glance for Claire North.
Claire North’s face was pale, her expression pity-inducing, but the glimmer in her eyes was cold. That wretched woman, Raina North, dared to repeatedly throw dirt on her!
If it weren’t for maintaining her image, she would have long been unable to resist tearing into that woman.
Under everyone’s gaze, Elias Hawthorne walked up to Raina North, "Where are you going? Let me accompany you."
Raina North glanced at Elias Hawthorne, "No need, I’m still on work hours; it wouldn’t be right to wander around with you being idle."
After saying this, she tossed her head and walked away.
The remaining people were simply stunned.
Oh... my... God...
Did Raina North even know whom she just rejected!
Aidan Lynch looked at Elias Hawthorne’s somewhat darkened face, wisely retreating a few steps to distance himself, ensuring he wouldn’t get frostbitten by Elias’s aura.
However, he felt quite pleased internally. Elias Hawthorne was so formidable, even meeting the governor late at night wouldn’t be turned down, yet now he got rejected by a woman.
He really wanted to inquire about the size of Elias Hawthorne’s heart, heh...
Elias Hawthorne’s gaze swept coldly over him.
Aidan Lynch immediately lowered his head, adopting a respectful stance.
Elias Hawthorne snorted coldly.
...
