Chapter 296: Chapter 296: No Way Back (Part 2)

Foolish!

Truly a foolish man!

But it was this foolish man that dispelled her last sliver of hesitation and weakness.

There’s no way she could really watch Elias die.

Raina North’s gaze became resolute, and she picked up the vial again, opened the cap, and poured out the liquid inside.

Her hands were steady and precise, and the various liquids gradually merged together in the largest bottle. The color was indescribably strange, but Raina was more determined than ever.

...

Casper North rested his chin on his hand, his eyes wide open, watching the lab. Even though his eyes hurt from staring, he didn’t dare to blink.

Afraid that Raina would suddenly rush out from inside.

As the person closest to Raina, he certainly knew what was troubling her heart.

She always cared too much about those around her.

Sometimes this concern could trip her up, but often it helped her overcome obstacles and rise swiftly.

He hoped for the latter.

His Raina was born to be an eagle soaring in the sky; no one and nothing should be her stumbling block.

Jasper Hawthorne had been watching the time. Seeing an hour had passed, he let out a long sigh of relief, "Looks like sister-in-law has overcome her psychological barrier. Big brother and Baby are saved now."

Brolin breathed a sigh of relief and relaxed, only now realizing his back was soaked.

Casper, however, seemed dissatisfied and snorted, "I wonder who doubted my mom’s ability before? Even suspected my mom was the one who poisoned."

Jasper grinned at Casper, trying to appease him, "Wasn’t my head just messed up before? Can’t you, a magnanimous person, overlook it for your uncle’s sake?"

Casper sneered, "Uncle, why are you so disgusting."

Jasper laughed, completely unfazed, "What’s the big deal? As long as you’re not angry."

"Am I so easy to appease?"

"Then how about I transfer some money to you?"

"..." Casper fumed, "Is this about money? Really?"

Jasper looked puzzled, "Isn’t it?"

In his nephew Casper’s mind, isn’t everything solvable with money?

Casper: "..."

Even if that’s true, can’t we not be so direct about it?

Besides, this time it really wasn’t something money could solve.

He worriedly tugged at his hair, "Wait until Raina comes out; she’ll definitely skin me alive!"

His Raina was so smart; she must have long guessed that it was a scheme between him and his stepfather, and she would definitely punish him harshly.

The thought was terribly frustrating.

"It’s fine, don’t be scared," Jasper comforted Casper, "At worst, after sister-in-law skins you, I’ll get the best doctor to sew you up again."

Casper was infuriated, "Is this about sewing back together? Might as well use money to give me a golden statue instead."

Jasper was delighted, "Consider it done!"

Casper looked at Jasper’s goofy jumps and couldn’t help but retort, "Idiot uncle!"

But he was admittedly quite endearing.

Most importantly, he was as understanding as Baby Hawthorne.

Casper swore, it really wasn’t just for some lousy money.

It was mainly for the sake of Baby Hawthorne and his mom.

If, by any chance, mom couldn’t save him because she cared too much for Baby, she’d regret it for life.

If not for that, he wouldn’t have agreed to this lousy plan from his stepdad, forcing Raina.

Casper North was one of the most filial sons in the world.
