Chapter 316: Chapter 316: Marrying a Young Stepmother (2)
Raymond Thorne furrowed his brow and reprimanded, "Quinn, why are you yelling at Hannah for no reason? Apologize to her!"
Hannah Lawrence quickly said, "No need, it’s all my fault for talking too much, that’s why Quinn got angry. Uncle, don’t blame him."
"Hannah, you’re really too sensible." Raymond Thorne was quite pleased with Hannah Lawrence, "The Thorne Family being able to have a daughter-in-law like you is a tremendous blessing."
"Uncle, you’re overpraising. Quinn is actually really good."
Listening to their exchange, Quinn Thorne felt increasingly irritated.
For years, he’s often thought, was the reason he and Anya had such a fallout because of this woman’s double-dealing?
This thought became unstoppable the day he seemingly saw Anya Forrest again.
He couldn’t help but wonder, if Hannah Lawrence wasn’t so deceitful, if he hadn’t been so foolish, would Anya have chosen such a resolute path?
She burned everything in a fire, refusing to leave even a single bone for him.
Suddenly, Quinn Thorne couldn’t stay any longer, he pushed away Hannah Lawrence’s hand and walked briskly outside.
Raymond Thorne’s face darkened abruptly, saying displeasedly, "This is really outrageous!"
Hannah Lawrence hurriedly apologized on behalf of Quinn Thorne.
No matter how unhappy Raymond Thorne was, he wouldn’t vent his anger on a daughter-in-law yet to join the family.
Seeing Quinn Thorne already approaching the door, Hannah Lawrence quickly said, "Uncle, let me go check on him."
"Alright."
Hannah Lawrence quickly turned around and, as she passed Raymond Thorne’s private room, subconsciously glanced inside.
She saw a young girl sitting in the room.
Her back was to the door, only visible was her long, black hair draped over her shoulders, her jade-like face slightly turned, with her small hand supporting her cheek, revealing a slender, fair arm that made the garnet bracelet on her wrist appear even more vividly red.
Hannah Lawrence’s heart skipped a beat.
Not daring to linger, she hurriedly walked away.
By the time she rushed out of the Imperial Restaurant, Quinn Thorne was already seated in the car.
Hannah Lawrence quickened her pace, opened the backseat door, and sat in.
She didn’t want to sit in the passenger seat, ever since that woman’s death, Quinn’s passenger seat had become forbidden; no one was allowed to touch it.
Hannah Lawrence didn’t want to argue with Quinn Thorne about such matters, she understood the logic that one can’t win against a deceased person.
But, after all, it’s merely a deceased person.
Once dead, everything is gone.
Hannah Lawrence leaned forward, gazing at Quinn Thorne’s profile, her voice carrying a sense of mystery: "Quinn, can you guess what I saw in Uncle’s private room?"
Quinn Thorne ignored her.
Hannah Lawrence wasn’t bothered and continued, "I saw a girl. Ever since Aunt passed away, although Uncle has had some flings, there’s never been a proper woman, he never brought any around, this is the first time, it must be different from usual."
"So?" Quinn Thorne responded, his tone mocking, "Are you worried my dad might bring home a stepmother?"
Hannah Lawrence wasn’t fazed by Quinn Thorne’s sarcasm, earnestly asking, "Aren’t you worried? Someone who can catch Uncle’s eye must not be a simple woman. If she bears a son in the future, the Thorne Family’s dynamics could change entirely."
"Oh really? That would be fantastic." Quinn Thorne finally showed his first genuine smile of the day, "That would mean all your scheming with your family was in vain."
Hannah Lawrence was finally upset, "Quinn! How can you say such things? Have my calculations not all been for you?!"
The more Hannah Lawrence spoke, the more aggrieved she felt, her eyes turning red.
Quinn Thorne remained unmoved, only showing cold sarcasm in his gaze.
