Chapter 91: Huo Feng Teases Yue Ning

Chapter 91: Chapter 91: Huo Feng Teases Yue Ning

The kiss went on for a long time. Huo Feng finally let go of her when he saw that she was finding it difficult to breathe.

Yue Ning was breathing heavily after Huo Feng had left her. Her cheeks were rosy, her eyes filled with undisguised desire.

Huo Feng didn’t have it easy either. He had only had a taste of Yue Ning, and he was about to lose control.

"I will just freshen up while you prepare the movies." He said hastily, before he walked straight into the bathroom.

Yue Ning watched him leave, while she absentmindedly placed her finger on her lips. Her mind replayed the kiss, and something stirred in her heart.

’Are you now convinced that he likes you?’ The system’s voice finally sounded in her mind.

Yue Ning exhaled. She didn’t know about Huo Feng’s feelings, but she was sure of one—she was already in love with him.

When Huo Feng stepped out of the bathroom in his nightwear, the room was already dimly lit. Yue Ning had drawn the curtains, switched off the lights, and set the glow of the TV as their only source of brightness.

Two bowls of popcorn sat neatly on the floor in front of the sofa, and she was fussing with the remote.

Her eyes brightened when she saw him. "You’re just in time. The movie is about to start." She said naturally, not mentioning what took place earlier.

Both she and Huo Feng and a tacit understanding, and they acted like the kiss from earlier didn’t happen.

Huo Feng’s gaze swept over the scene, lingering for a second longer on her eager expression. A faint smile tugged at his lips, though he didn’t comment on the setup.

He simply sat down beside her, close enough that their shoulders brushed. The movie finally started, and just as Yue Ning had said previously—it was a horror movie.

The first few minutes were calm, but as the tension built on-screen, Yue Ning straightened, her attention glued to the TV. She tried her best to look unfaze. That was until a sudden jumpscare made her flinch and grab hold of Huo Feng’s sleeve.

He glanced down at the small hand clinging to him. "Didn’t you say you liked horror movies?" His asked her. His voice was calm, but there was unmistakable amusement and teasing laced to it.

Yue Ning’s cheeks flushed. "I—I do! I was just caught off guard." She stammered.

"Hmm." His lips curved ever so slightly, but he didn’t shake her off.

As the movie went on, Yue Ning didn’t release his sleeve. At some point, she leaned closer, her head brushing against his shoulder as if it were the most natural thing. Her heartbeat quickened, but she didn’t move away.

Huo Feng’s hand twitched at his side. After a silent struggle, he finally lifted his arm and settled it around her shoulders. The moment he did, she froze, then quietly relaxed, melting against him with a soft sigh.

The film continued, but Huo Feng barely noticed it anymore. His gaze kept returning to her face, the way her brows furrowed at each eerie sound, the faint tremble when the music spiked.

Another scare came, and Yue Ning gasped, burying her face against his chest. His low chuckle vibrated through her ear as he tightened his hold around her.

"Coward," he murmured, but there was no ridicule in his tone.

"Who’s a coward?" She mumbled against him, refusing to lift her face. "I was just... making sure you weren’t scared." She didn’t believe her words, but she had to put up a fierce expression.

Huo Feng raised a brow but didn’t expose her. Instead, he let her stay in his arms, his chin brushing the top of her hair.

By the time the credits rolled, neither of them moved. The silence stretched, heavy with unspoken words. Yue Ning finally stirred, attempting to sit up, but Huo Feng’s arm tightened, pulling her back down.

His voice was low, steady, and laced with something that made her heart skip.

"Forget the movie. This... feels much better."

Yue Ning froze, her cheeks burning. Slowly, a smile curved her lips as she nestled back against him, her pulse racing but her heart felt incredibly light.

Before long, Huo Feng heard the soft breathing against his chest. His gaze softened as he stared down at Yue Ning’s face. She had already slept off while laying on his chest.

There was a hint of smile as he pulled her closer to himself, resting his chin on her hair. They both slept this way in this position. They didn’t have dinner as well, but it didn’t matter as long as they were together.

The next morning, sunlight forced its way into the room. It shone on the couple who were laying on the floor, giving the room a soft ambience.

Yue Ning was the first to stir. Her eyelashes fluttered open, and she tried moving, only to realize that her body was firmly interlocked by a large hand.

Her eyes softened when she saw Huo Feng who was still asleep.

Her gaze traced from his eyebrows to his long eyelashes. Yue Ning felt jealous of its length. How could a male have longer lashes than a female?

Her gaze finally stopped on his lips. His lips were naturally red and full. Seeing his lips, Yue Ning was tempted to take a huge bite.

"Have you seen enough?" All of a sudden, Huo Feng’s hoarse voice sounded in the room.

Yue Ning’s eyes snapped shut without hesitation, as she pretended to be asleep.

Huo Feng saw through her actions, and he chuckled deeply, his chest reverberating against hers.

"I know you are awake. There is no need to pretend," he whispered in her ears.

Yue Ning’s heart raced, her lashes fluttering though she stubbornly kept her eyes closed. Huo Feng’s chuckle brushed against her ear, filled with richness and teasing.

"Still pretending?" he murmured. "Then I’ll just have to wake you up myself."

Her breath hitched as his fingers brushed her chin, tilting her face toward his. The warmth of his lips hovered so close that her heart leapt in panic and anticipation.

Yue Ning’s eyes flew open at last—only to meet his amused gaze.

"Good morning, coward," Huo Feng whispered, his smile filled with wickedness, yet at the same time, gentle.
