Chapter 90: Huo Feng Kisses Yue Ning

Chapter 90: Chapter 90: Huo Feng Kisses Yue Ning

Yue Ning didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. What sort of entangled fate was this?

She cleared her throat before saying, "He Yuchen is Huo Feng’s friend. I can assure you that he is a nice guy."

Yun Li was stunned on the other end. "You mean... what you’re trying to say is that he is Huo Feng’s friend?" She repeated.

"Yes. Do you think I’d lie to you?"

Yun Li shook her head, but realized that Yue Ning won’t be able to see her. Thus, she replied. "You have no reason to lie to me. I am just surprised by the complete twist."

"I can understand you. Can you return home now? Uncle and Aunt must be worried about you." Yue Ning tried to convince her.

"I will return home, but that doesn’t mean I agree to marry him. At least, I haven’t interacted with him." Yun Li scoffed.

"Yes, your highness. At least, do try to interact with him and see if he is good enough for you. Okay, I have to go. We will catch up later."

Yue Ning hastily said, and disconnected the call without hesitation.

"Sister-in-law, was that your friend?" Huo Yan asked.

Yue Ning nodded positively. She didn’t intend to hide anything from the girl.

"I never expected that Brother He would decide to settle down." Huo Yan chuckled.

Yue Ning raised her brows. "Why do you say so?"

"Well," Huo Yan leaned over with a gossipy posture. "Brother He has a horrible reputation with ladies. It is safe to call him a playboy."

Yue Ning burst into laughter. Huo Yan’s description of He Yuchen was quite wild. She wondered how he would react if he found out what Huo Yan said about him.

"Perhaps, this is why Uncle and Auntie decided to settle his engagement." Huo Yan murmured. "Anyways, you can convince your friend to give him a chance. Brother He is a nice person."

Yue Ning nodded. Hopefully, Yun Li would not be rash when she met He Yuchen later.

As the two ladies discussed, Huo Feng walked in, gaining the attention of the two.

"Gege, you’re back." Huo Yan’s lips curled slowly when she noticed Huo Feng.

Yue Ning’s heart skipped a bit as her mind flashed back to her mission.

"Hmm. I’m a bit tired, so I’ll be in my room for now. You can call me when it’s time for dinner." He said, and walked in the direction of the stairs.

Yue Ning sat for a while before she followed behind him. Huo Yan snickered softly.

Meanwhile, Yue Ning followed behind Huo Feng with different thoughts in her mind. She still hadn’t thought of how she could spend quality time with him.

"What’s wrong?" Huo Feng suddenly spoke up, causing her to let out a yelp.

Because Huo Feng had stopped abruptly, Yue Ning bumped into his sturdy back. Due to the impact, she took a step back, rubbing her forehead.

Huo Feng’s eyes softened, as he pulled her in his arms. He looked at her forward which had already turned red, and asked. "Are you hurt?"

Yue Ning shook her head negatively. "I am perfectly fine."

Huo Feng scrutinized hed face, and when he confirmed that she was okay, he sighed in relief while he rubbed her long, soft hair.

He felt relieved just by being by her side. She had a unique scent, and whenever he stood by her, he was completely at peace.

"Huo Feng," she started, playing with her fingers.

Seeing the nervous expression on her face, Huo Feng’s eyes narrowed sharply.

"Let’s talk in the room," Huo Feng suggested, and she hurriedly nodded as though she had been given a way out.

In such a situation, the system would have teased her, but it was unusually quiet. As Yue Ning walked with Huo Feng, she thought about the system’s silence.

They finally got into the room, and Huo Feng naturally removed his coat, while he waited for Yue Ning to speak.

"So, what do you want to say?" He asked, as he took a seat on the sofa.

Yue Ning swallowed. With each movement done by Huo Feng, Yue Ning could see his toned my muscle outlining the shirt he wore.

Despite Huo Feng putting on a shirt, Yue Ning could see his bulky figure, and heat rose from her cheeks down to the name of her neck.

Huo Feng noticed all the changes in her expression, and his heart felt good. To be able to trigger such expressions from his wife, he was naturally in a good mood, which was clear with how his smiled naturally.

Yue Ning took a deep breath, gathering courage and resolve. She smiled at Huo Feng, before announcing with closed eyes. "I want to spend quality time with you tonight!"

Huo Feng was stunned as he stared at Yue Ning with parted lips, and wide eyes. He didn’t expect her to make such a request. Moreover, it sounded weird coming from her.

He cleared his throat. "Ning Ning, are you sure you haven’t made a mistake with your request?" He asked, doubt evident in his voice.

Yue Ning shook her head frantically. How could he doubt her? She asked herself. She was being honest here, but all she got was his doubtful question.

"This is my request," Yue Ning said softly, her fingers fidgeting with the hem of her dress. "Since our marriage, we’ve faced nothing but problems one after another. We never had the chance to just... be husband and wife."

She lifted her gaze to meet his, her eyes clear but nervous. "I don’t want anything complicated. I just want to lie in your arms, maybe watch a movie together, and feel what it’s like to enjoy your presence. Just the two of us."

Yue Ning said all these in one breath. Once again, Huo Feng was left speechless by her words.

As he deliberated on her words, he realized that she was right. They got married... not out of love — but obligation.

And ever since they married, they only solved problems after problems.

Taking a sigh, he realized that he hadn’t really spent time with her, and not really given her the status of his wife.

"Fine. What do you want to do tonight?" Huo Feng asked, giving into her.

Yue Ning’s face brightened up, her expression showing genuine happiness.

She instantly took a seat beside him on the sofa as she excitedly chatted. "I have gone through a list of movies we could watch. I think horror is best. We can do so after dinner."

Yue Ning patiently explained what she had planned, her voice light and excited. But Huo Feng wasn’t really listening. His gaze lingered on her glowing face, the sparkle in her eyes, and the way her lips curved with every word.

Something stirred in his chest. It was a mix of tenderness and desire. Without thinking, he leaned in and captured her lips with his, silencing her mid-sentence.

Yue Ning froze, eyes wide, her breath caught in her throat. But as the warmth of his lips lingered on hers, her heart slowly melted, the walls she had carefully built crumbling bit by bit. For the first time since their marriage, she wasn’t thinking of the mission—only of the man before her.

By the time she realized what was happening, Huo Feng had already deepened the kiss, his arm tightening around her waist as though he had no intention of letting her go tonight.
