"This has nothing to do with you!"
Xin Ran, however, seemed to have a belly full of grievances to vent. "Since you've already hit me, surely you won't stop me from speaking my mind."
He walked forward, grabbed Zhan Mohan's collar again, and said through gritted teeth.
"Do you know that if this child is aborted, she won't be able to get pregnant again? She won't be able to be a mother anymore!"
He had his own reasons for letting Wei Yumeng abort the child, and he wouldn't harm Yumeng.
Zhan Mohan reached out and brushed away Xin Ran's hand, saying firmly.
"Even if she can't have children in this lifetime, I won't abandon her. Having children is not important; what's important is that she stays by my side!"
Hearing these words, Xin Ran's anger became uncontrollable, and he threw a punch at Zhan Mohan.
"How dare you say such things so righteously? Zhan Mohan, ask yourself honestly, is it possible? Even if you don't mind, will your Zhan family elder agree? Since you can't take responsibility for her future, stop spewing such irresponsible words!"
The two men ended up fighting, neither willing to back down.
By ten o'clock that night, Wei Yumeng received a call from the police station and rushed over with Mu Linjing.
She hurried up the steps, with Mu Linjing supporting her. "Slow down."
The hall was brightly lit. Zhan Mohan and Xin Ran sat on opposite ends of a long bench, highlighting their mutual dislike.
Wei Yumeng saw that Zhan Mohan's face was bruised and bleeding from some wounds. Xin Ran was even worse, with a swollen and bruised face.
Mu Linjing was startled. "How did these two get so badly beaten?"
Wei Yumeng snorted. "Who knows."
She thought they were both acting crazy.
Soon, Zheng Yuanyuan also arrived. As soon as Xin Ran saw Zheng Yuanyuan, he couldn't help but frown.
Zheng Yuanyuan, oblivious to Xin Ran's displeasure, walked up anxiously, cradled Xin Ran's face, and said tenderly.
"How did you get beaten up like this? Does it hurt a lot?"
Xin Ran was flustered by Zheng Yuanyuan's enthusiastic greeting and quickly dodged her touch.
"I'm fine, don't touch me."
Zheng Yuanyuan completely misunderstood Xin Ran, thinking he was trying to avoid her because he was in pain.
"Alright, alright, I won't touch you. Let's go to the hospital first."
She helped Xin Ran, preparing to leave, but caught sight of Zhan Mohan and stopped abruptly.
"Mr. Zhan, what did our Xin Ran do to you that you've hit him time and time again? Is it worth it for a woman?"
Zhan Mohan cast a cold glance at Zheng Yuanyuan and replied arrogantly and forcefully.
"You should be grateful I didn't beat him to the point where he'd be bedridden for the rest of his life. That would have been very generous of me."
Xin Ran scoffed. "Based on what!"
"Want to try again?" Zhan Mohan looked unfazed.
Zheng Yuanyuan quickly grabbed his arm. "Alright, Xin Ran, stop arguing with him. Your mother is waiting for us at home."
Xin Ran glanced at Wei Yumeng, a hint of tenderness in his eyes.
"Yumeng, I..."
"Go with your fiancée. And since you're already engaged, please don't contact me anymore. I don't want any unnecessary misunderstandings."
Xin Ran saw the disappointment on Wei Yumeng's face and knew she was bothered by the message. He didn't want to create a rift between them; his feelings for her were genuine.
He had never intended to harm her.
"Yumeng, I was really helping you. You have to listen to me. I'll explain another day."
"I don't want to hear your explanation. I don't want either of you to dictate my life."
Her emotions were a bit volatile at the moment. The matter of the child had already overwhelmed her, and now Zhan Mohan had gone to find Xin Ran, and they had fought. These were all troubling matters for her.
Xin Ran looked guilty. He reached out to pull Wei Yumeng, but she dodged him, her expression cold, her gaze not lingering on him.
He withdrew his hand awkwardly.
"No matter how deep your misunderstanding of me is, I truly never intended to harm you. Everything I've done and thought has been for your consideration."
Wei Yumeng's attitude remained the same.
"I don't need it!"
Zheng Yuanyuan, standing nearby, couldn't stand Wei Yumeng's aloof demeanor and felt even more sorry for Xin Ran, who was speaking to her so humbly.
What made her so special?
"Wei Yumeng, can't you even tell right from wrong anymore? Would Xin Ran have fought with Zhan Mohan if it weren't for you? I don't think you should blame them. You should blame yourself. You're a jinx. Wherever you go, there's trouble. I strongly advise you to leave this city quickly, leave them both. Without you, everyone's life would be smooth sailing!"
"Yuanyuan!"
"Miss Zheng, please behave yourself."
As soon as Zheng Yuanyuan finished speaking, she was stopped by the two men. Zhan Mohan, in particular, glared at Zheng Yuanyuan as if his sharp eyes could pierce through the crowd.
Zheng Yuanyuan was furious with the two of them.
"Are you two out of your minds? What's so great about this woman that she has you two completely smitten?"
Zhan Mohan's gaze was icy, and his whole being exuded a menacing aura. Wei Yumeng knew this was a sign that Zhan Mohan was about to get angry. She turned to Xin Ran and said.
"You two should go to the hospital first."
Zheng Yuanyuan snorted. "You don't need to tell me. I'll take Xin Ran to the hospital. Zhan Mohan initiated the violence this time, so you two just wait for the legal summons. I'll make sure you take full responsibility."
With that, Zheng Yuanyuan linked arms with Xin Ran and left the police station.
In the hall, only a few staff members, Wei Yumeng, and Zhan Mohan remained.
Wei Yumeng's mood was abysmal. She never expected Zhan Mohan to go after Xin Ran and for them to fight.
She saw that Zhan Mohan's face was also not in good shape. This wasn't the first time he had fought with Xin Ran.
"Did you call Fang Xun?"
Zhan Mohan's gaze was cold. Did she mean she wanted Fang Xun to pick her up so she could leave?
How could this woman be so heartless?
He wasn't someone who lacked temper, but his temper had been suppressed ever since he met her. Now, a surge of anger flared up again, and his tone turned sharp.
"If you want to leave, no one is stopping you."
Hearing his cold tone, Wei Yumeng's expression worsened. The atmosphere between them became tense. Mu Linjing, watching from the side, felt even more awkward.
After all, she had enjoyed the delicious food Zhan had bought. It seemed like she should try to mediate.
"Um, Yumeng, why don't we take Mr. Zhan to the hospital first? Fang Xun might be busy, otherwise, he would definitely come."
Zhan Mohan's attitude was resolute, and he refused directly.
"No need."
With that, the man stood up and walked towards the door. Mu Linjing turned to persuade Wei Yumeng.
"Put aside your feelings for now. If something happens to him in this state, can you bear it?"
Wei Yumeng said stubbornly, "What is there for me to bear?"
"Mr. Zhan took care of you all night when you had a fever last time. And now he's fighting for you. We should at least be grateful, shouldn't we?"
Mu Linjing felt awkward caught between the two. When Yumeng returned, she was in low spirits but stubbornly refused to shed a tear. Mu Linjing had been worried, wishing Yumeng would cry it out rather than hold her feelings in.
She had seen the message Xin Ran sent to Yumeng, telling her to abort the child and being very firm about it.
If it weren't for so many people present, she would have confronted Xin Ran directly. If not for him, how could Yumeng and Mr. Zhan have reached this point? Now that Yumeng was pregnant, and he had a fiancée, he could disregard others' feelings and casually suggest aborting the child, as if the child wasn't growing inside her.
She could guess that Mr. Zhan went to find Xin Ran, most likely about the child. Perhaps they had a disagreement, and that's how they ended up fighting.
Wei Yumeng finally softened her heart and walked outside. Mu Linjing's face lit up, seeing that she had finally come to her senses.
Zhan Mohan had already opened the car door, preparing to get in. Wei Yumeng quickly walked over and held the door shut.
The man looked up, his eyes appearing even darker and deeper in the night. He raised an eyebrow.
"Something wrong?"
