Chapter 9 She Found Another Man While Carrying You

What would she do if Zhan Mohan saw it? How could she explain it? Who could just come and go freely in the Zhan family? Could it really be Zhan Yichen?

She had to find time to figure this out. If Zhan Yichen was really behind it, it would be too ironic.

She left the bathroom and vaguely saw Zhan Mohan still lying in bed. He had just shifted his body, his breathing steady. It couldn't be him. Zhan Mohan was paralyzed from the waist down, while the other person was agile, and even their scent was different.

Early in the morning, she got up and put a silk scarf around her neck.

Old Master Zhan had instructed her to personally prepare Zhan Mohan's breakfast every morning. She had been learning how to do it for the past few days.

The chef was explaining the key points of making pancakes to her.

"Don't use too much flour, and it has to be crispy. Mr. Zhan doesn't like it too mushy."

But as soon as she smelled the oil, Wei Yumeng's stomach churned. She furrowed her brows, covered her mouth, and ran to the bathroom.

After vomiting at the sink, she felt a little better, but the greasy smell lingered. Just thinking about it made her feel nauseous again.

It seemed her morning sickness had begun. The crucial point was that she didn't even know who the father of this child was. That night, she hadn't paid attention to his face; her mind was solely focused on getting the money quickly to save her mother's life.

What was even funnier was that fate had made her, carrying this child, marry into the Zhan family. If Zhan Mohan knew she was pregnant, the thought of his terrifying face made her tremble.

A maid suddenly knocked on the door.

"Are you done?"

She casually wiped her mouth and opened the door. "I'm coming."

The maid thought Wei Yumeng was being dramatic. Besides, everyone in the Zhan family knew she married Zhan Mohan to atone for her sins, so no one took her seriously as the young madam.

She couldn't help but roll her eyes. "So dramatic. Can't even stand this cooking smell. How will you ever take care of the master?"

Wei Yumeng had initially planned to return to the kitchen, but when she heard the woman speaking about her behind her back, she stopped.

"How I take care of the master is my business. Even if I'm useless, it's not for a maid like you to lecture me!"

The maid stared at Wei Yumeng, surprised that she dared to confront her directly.

But after reacting, the maid's imposing manner returned.

"Who in this household treats you as the young madam? Don't put on airs in front of me."

"Whether you consider me the young madam or not, I am Zhan Mohan's wife now. If you don't apologize, we'll go to Old Master Zhan to settle this!"

Wei Yumeng wasn't going to let it go. If even a maid could bully her, her life in the Zhan family would be even more difficult.

The maid hadn't expected her to actually confront her. Coupled with the firm look and tone in her eyes, it was a little intimidating.

She was also afraid of escalating the matter to Old Master Zhan. She was just a maid and needed this job. After careful consideration, she softened her attitude.

"I'm sorry."

Seeing that the maid had apologized, she didn't pursue it further. She walked past the maid and went downstairs.

After making breakfast in the kitchen, she brought it into Zhan Mohan's room. The man was already awake, sitting in a chair, engrossed in a document. Wei Yumeng didn't know why, but looking at his back, she felt a strange sense of familiarity.

It was as if she had seen him somewhere before.

Before she could ponder, the man's cold voice echoed in the room.

"What are you standing there for? Hurry up and come here!"

Wei Yumeng snapped back to reality and walked over, placing the breakfast beside him.

"Your coffee and breakfast are ready. The coffee is freshly ground, and as you requested, it has no sugar."

The man took a sip, his brows furrowed.

"The flavor isn't strong enough. Make another one."

Wei Yumeng dared not offend him, so she went to grind another cup and brought it into his room.

"It's too bitter."

"It's too hot."

"What kind of grinding is this!"

No matter how many times she tried, the man always found reasons to pick on her. Even the most patient person couldn't stand it.

When he uttered his last sentence, she simply picked up the cup in front of him and took a sip.

"It tastes good. I don't find anything wrong with it."

"Who told you to drink from my cup!"

The man snatched the cup from her hand. The deep inkiness in his eyes faded, leaving only a chilling coldness and indifference.

Wei Yumeng was stunned by his reaction. What was it about a mere cup that elicited such a strong response from him?

She choked for a long time, finally managing to squeeze out a few words.

"I'll pay for it if it's that much of a problem."

"You pay? My brother is still lying in the hospital. Can you pay for that?" The man's jaw tightened, his expression exceptionally harsh. His usually indifferent face was covered in frost, and he clenched his fists.

He brought this up again.

"I've already told you, I didn't do that. The culprit wasn't me. Someone else hit you and your brother!"

How many times did she have to say it for him to believe her?

"I have evidence. Do you want me to show you? Wei Yumeng, I advise you to behave yourself in the Zhan family. Don't cause any trouble, or your entire Wei family will pay the price!"

The man's voice was like an ice-covered millennium-old snow mountain, emitting a chilling aura.

Wei Yumeng found it terrifying to anger this man. Just his gaze and the aura around him were enough to make her back shiver and her heart pound.

At that moment, Zhan Yichen called from the doorway.

"Brother, can I come in?"

"Come in."

Zhan Yichen pushed the door open and saw them confronting each other. He walked forward and grabbed Wei Yumeng's wrist.

"You woman, you've made my brother angry again!"

Wei Yumeng felt as if her bones were about to crack from his grip. A sharp pain shot through her, and she instinctively struggled.

"I didn't anger him. Let go of me!"

Zhan Yichen stared at Wei Yumeng, then suddenly felt something was off. His gaze shifted down, and he saw the silk scarf on her neck.

In the middle of summer, this woman was wearing a scarf. He reached out and pulled it off while Wei Yumeng wasn't paying attention.

Wei Yumeng instinctively took two steps back. Zhan Yichen looked closely.

"What is that on your neck!"

She panicked...

Zhan Yichen pointed at her. "Brother, she's seeing another man behind your back!"

The marks on her neck were clearly hickeys.

"No, you're mistaken. I..."

"Wei Yumeng, how do you explain what's on your neck?"

Zhan Mohan's face tensed, his expression frighteningly gloomy, as if he were about to devour someone.

"I..."

She nervously clenched her fingers, her mind blank. How could she explain to prove that the marks on her neck were not left by that stranger?
