Chapter 385 I Must See Him

Wei Yumeng, being pregnant, couldn't force her way in. Seeing the receptionist's predicament, she could only sigh.

"I understand. I won't make things difficult for you, but I really need to see him about something important. Can I wait here for him to finish work?"

She wasn't in a rush anyway. She had plenty of time and could just linger here. She didn't believe Zhan Mohan wouldn't leave the company.

The receptionist didn't say much more. After all, Wei Yumeng had worked at the company before.

"There are sofas over there. You can sit and wait."

"Okay, thank you."

She walked towards the sofas in the lobby. As she sat down, she felt a moment of dizziness, but it quickly passed. It was probably the exhaustion from the past two days, her body struggling to cope.

As soon as she arrived at the company, Fang Xun received the news. Hearing that she planned to wait in the lobby until Zhan Mo Han finished work, he shook his head helplessly.

These two were both stubborn. It wouldn't end well for either of them, and he'd be the one to suffer.

Fang Xun sighed. Being an assistant looked glamorous on the surface, but in reality, they bore the brunt of all the pressure. With these two having a misunderstanding, he had to act as a punching bag. Zhan Mo Han's temper these days was like a volcano about to erupt.

He stood at the door, hesitating for a few minutes before pushing open the office door as if heading to his doom.

Zhan Mohan was looking down at the files in his hand. The files beside him were piled up like a small mountain. It seemed true that a man who didn't talk about love only wanted to make money, which perfectly described Zhan Mo Han's current state.

He cleared his throat and said, "Zhan Mo Han, Wei Yumeng is downstairs at the company."

Upon hearing Fang Xun mention Wei Yumeng's name, Zhan Mo Han's hand, which was signing a document, paused. He looked up at Fang Xun, then back down, his expression returning to indifference.

"Wherever she wants to stay, let her stay. There's no need to tell me."

With that, Zhan Mo Han placed the file in his hand down heavily and fell silent. Fang Xun didn't dare to provoke him further and could only stand there awkwardly.

Zhan Mo Han took out his phone, not sure what he was looking for. Seeing no new message notifications, he put it down again. He didn't know what he was waiting for. The woman was waiting downstairs, yet she hadn't sent him a message.

Perhaps she also felt she lacked the confidence. The more he thought about it, the more agitated he became. He looked up and saw Fang Xun still standing there hesitantly.

"Why are you still standing here? Don't you have work to do?"

Fang Xun hesitated. As Zhan Mo Han's assistant, he shouldn't meddle in his boss's personal affairs. However, as his partner of so many years, he couldn't bear to see him in such a state of turmoil.

Zhan Mo Han and Fang Xun had collaborated for so many years. He could sense any slight disturbance.

"If you have something to say, spit it out!"

"Zhan Mo Han, Miss Wei said she'll wait downstairs until you finish work and see you."

Fang Xun spoke cautiously, afraid of angering Zhan Mo Han again.

The man raised his eyebrows indifferently. "So?"

"So, why don't we... let her come up?"

Fang Xun had an unspoken thought: if the madam were to suffer a mishap from waiting, Zhan Mo Han would be the one to regret it. This approach was like hurting a thousand of your own soldiers to kill eight hundred enemies; it simply wasn't worth it.

Zhan Mo Han stood up, his face still expressionless. Regardless of what Fang Xun said, he showed no emotional fluctuation.

"You've said your piece. Go back to work."

Seeing that Zhan Mo Han was completely unmoved, Fang Xun could only give up. It seemed the rift between these two wasn't something that could be resolved in a short period.

As Fang Xun opened the door, about to leave, Zhan Mo Han suddenly called out to him.

"Wait a moment."

Fang Xun stopped and turned back. "Does Zhan Mo Han have any other instructions?"

He glanced at the time on his wrist. It was already lunchtime. She had been looking for work all day and must be tired.

"Here's what you do. Have the receptionist order a meal for her. Don't mention my name."

Fang Xun suppressed a smile but didn't dare to show it.

"Yes, I'll go now."

As expected, Zhan Mo Han still cared about his wife, he was just being stubborn. Both of them had overly strong personalities and were unwilling to back down.

After receiving the message, the receptionist quickly ordered the meal. When it arrived, she walked over with it.

"You've been waiting so long. Eat something first. Zhan Mo Han might not come out for a while."

Wei Yumeng was in no mood to eat. The thought of not being able to find a job and having no source of income made her panic.

"Thank you, but I'm not hungry right now."

Seeing her refusal, the receptionist grew anxious. Assistant Fang had specifically instructed her on the phone to persuade Miss Wei to eat, or else she wouldn't be able to keep her job.

She persuaded again, "If you don't eat, it won't be good for the baby, and you still have to wait for Zhan Mo Han here."

Wei Yumeng still refused, "If I can't see Zhan Mo Han, I won't have the appetite to eat."

Seeing her persistence, the receptionist didn't know what else to do. She went to the restroom and called the president's office on her phone.

Upon hearing the receptionist's report, Zhan Mo Han frowned, his expression grim.

"She refused to eat?"

"Yes, Zhan Mo Han. She seems quite determined. It looks like she won't leave unless she sees you today. I tried to persuade her, but it was no use. What do you think..."

Zhan Mo Han rubbed his temples irritably. After a moment, he spoke again.

"Tell her to eat the meal, and then have her come up."

"Yes."

The receptionist also breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, Zhan Mo Han didn't blame her. It would have been truly unfair to lose her job over this.

Wei Yumeng was still sitting on the sofa, contemplating how to get Zhan Mo Han to agree to see her, when the receptionist approached.

"Please eat the meal first, and then I'll take you up to see Zhan Mo Han."

Wei Yumeng looked up in surprise. "Really?"

"Yes, Zhan Mo Han personally instructed it."

"Give me two minutes."

Wei Yumeng ate the meal box clean in the fastest possible time. She was indeed extremely hungry, but she couldn't feel at ease without seeing Zhan Mo Han. Now that she knew she could see him, her appetite returned with a vengeance.

In the elevator, Wei Yumeng took a deep breath, repeating the questions she wanted to ask Zhan Mo Han in her mind dozens of times.

However, when she arrived at Zhan Mo Han's office, she suddenly didn't know what to say.

The man in front of her was as impeccably dressed in a suit as ever, while she was heavily pregnant and had been struggling to make a living for days.

Zhan Mo Han sat behind his desk, backlit by the window. He put down his pen and looked up at Wei Yumeng.

"Didn't you want to see me? What is it, speak."

"Why are you obstructing me from finding a job? You don't need to deny it; I already know. Zhan Mo Han, I truly don't understand the reason for your actions. Are you happy to see a pregnant woman struggling to make ends meet every day?"

Zhan Mo Han frowned. "Wei Yumeng, in your heart, am I that kind of person?"
